For a 5 year old child - how to decorate a room with your own hands?

What can you say about this age?
These are no longer kids who prefer to be spectators rather than active participants, but they are also not nimble preschoolers who already have the skills to participate in team games and individual competitive tasks. I do not recommend holding competitions in which there are winners and losers - there will be a lot of tears and resentment. What to do? I chose feasible tasks for children 5 years old, which are carried out with the participation of adults. If you prepare well, your home party will be great.

As at all children's parties, competitions and games alternate with refreshments at the table.

If there will be children of one age at your party, I advise you to look at other competitions for children's birthdays. Here is a convenient list of my scenarios for children: quests, selections of games, etc.)

If your birthday is at the end of December or beginning of January, take my scenario for the quest “Santa Claus’s Magic Clock” as a basis.

General recommendations

A five-year-old child is already old enough to appreciate your efforts to decorate the interior of the nursery. But you shouldn’t involve him in the process for two reasons:

  • The effect of surprise will disappear, and boys and girls love surprises!;
  • Your design concepts will probably not coincide - your child will place the decor according to his preferences. There is no question of choosing a color scheme or distributing accents;
  • There is a possibility that the child will soon get tired;

Send the hero of the occasion for a walk with grandma, without telling him what you plan to do in his absence - you will save your nervous system.

Please note that the birthday of a 5-year-old child is always a stormy celebration. The kids will not sit decorously at the table; very quickly they will want to frolic and play pranks. Therefore, it is better to zone the room, allocating places for meals, outdoor games, and a photo zone.

As for the decorations themselves:

  • Materials must be safe for children;
  • The elements are easy to assemble and hang;
  • There is no point in buying expensive materials. Children will definitely break something. Choose budget options so you don’t have to worry about their safety during the holiday fun;
  • A 5-year-old child will love large jewelry in catchy colors.

Colored paper, cardboard, whatman paper and paints, balloons, cute toys, family photos, a stapler with staples, bright table napkins - this simple set will help you decorate your child’s birthday room quickly, cheaply and tastefully.

By the hands of a master

You can decorate a boy’s room for his 1st birthday by inviting professionals from the entertainment sector.

There are some interesting scenarios here too:

  • You can hire a team that will bring a carload of balloons and inflate them using a powerful gas cylinder, and turn the baby’s room into a kind of Fort Boyard.
  • You can cover all the walls with special large vinyl stickers, which will turn the nursery into something completely different - a spaceship, a prehistoric cave with a mammoth, or Aristotle’s elk house with a Tuktuk woodpecker.
  • You can rent a cart with a cotton candy machine, hire a cotton candy collector, and start photographing happy children yourself. But this option is more suitable for decorating a room for the birthday of a 4 or 5 year old boy, since few people give kids a lot of sugar. And the cart itself will become both an entourage decoration and a fun attraction.

Air balloons

They have long become a symbol of the holiday and are dearly loved by children. But the main advantage of balloons is their availability: they are cheap, but they look catchy and elegant. Some kids are afraid of loud pops when balloons burst. If your child is definitely not going to cry from such a nuisance, use this traditional decoration:

  • Place balloons inflated with helium and tied with long ribbons under the ceiling.
  • To turn the plastic tape into a beautiful curl, run the blade of a pair of scissors along it. The number of balls depends on the size of the room - for a small room 10-15 pieces are enough;
  • Order or make your own balloon arch, combining two or three colors. The arch will successfully perform two functions - it will decorate a child’s room and serve as a photo zone;
  • Place several balls on the walls, collecting them into spectacular “daisies”. For fastening, use buttons or nails; the tape is almost impossible to unnoticeably tear off from the wallpaper;
  • If the room is spacious, collect figurines of animals or people from balloons; 5-year-old children really like voluminous decorations;
  • Decorate the dining table with helium balloons, tie them to the backs of chairs and write the names of the guests. This way, each child will find his place, because many children at the age of 5 already know how to spell their name.

You can place small prizes inside the balloons for holiday competitions, and then the sound of the bursting balloon will be greeted with delight.

Garlands and streamers

Garlands made with your own hands from available materials will be an excellent addition to the formal interior of a child’s room. The variety of suitable materials is limited only by your imagination; colored paper, cardboard, and textiles are considered traditional. The shape is not important - triangles, circles of different sizes, flags.

We recommend deciding in advance where to place the garland so as not to miss its length. Typically, hanging decor is attached above the door, on windows and walls, and to the ceiling above the table. You can lay out figures with a long garland, the name of the child on the wall. Measure the required distance with a centimeter, and based on the measurement results, cut off the strong twine, adding 20 cm for freedom of fastening.

Next, it’s a matter of little things - paper and textile blanks are strung on twine. It is not necessary to glue or sew a hem for the rope being threaded; you can get by with a stapler with small staples, saving a lot of time.

If you don’t have time to make a garland with your own hands, buy a ready-made one at a holiday supply store or choose a suitable one from New Year’s decorations - colored lights are good at any time of the year, your child will definitely like this solution.

Using the principle of a garland, it’s easy to make a banner inscription: write large letters on sheets of colored cardboard, assemble them into words, and hang them on the wall. Standard options are the name of the birthday child, the inscription “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations.” From small letters you can make short wishes and greetings to guests.

Happy Birthday greetings to your daughter in your own words in prose

My dear, precious daughter! So you have become a year older. On this day, I wish you good health, bright emotions, and the fulfillment of all your plans. Stay as beautiful and sweet. May all doors be open for you. Be happy, self-sufficient and successful. Know that you can always rely on me. I will support all your endeavors and efforts.

My dear daughter! We love you very much and are glad to see how you become more beautiful and successful every day. Be healthy, happy, loved. May there be only happy and joyful moments in your life. We wish that all your deepest desires come true. May your life be accompanied by love, happiness, luck and prosperity. Happy birsday, my dear!

Pompoms and numbers

Bright paper pom-poms came to us from Asian culture with its lush carnivals. Making them with your own hands is easy:

  1. Fold several sheets of corrugated or plain colored paper like an accordion with a fold of about 2 cm;
  2. Round the edges of the accordion with scissors;
  3. Bend a small piece of wire in half, tighten it exactly in the middle of the workpiece;
  4. Spread the accordion with your fingers, forming a voluminous pompom.

Attach the finished pompoms to the ceiling so that they hang freely without touching the walls or furniture. Paper pinwheels are made in a similar way: you will need 3 sheets of paper, a stapler and 5 free minutes.

In recent years, it has become fashionable to decorate the room on a child’s birthday with numbers that emphasize the age of the birthday person. Usually they are made by hand something like this:

  1. Cut out a wide number from thick cardboard;
  2. Use colored table napkins to make many pompoms using the method described above, but use a stapler instead of wire. At this stage, involve the child in the process;
  3. Attach the pompoms to the workpiece, placing them tightly so that there are no gaps.

To make a number, use napkins of several colors, then it will seem more voluminous. Don't forget to take a photo of your child next to the symbolic craft.

Wall newspapers, photo collages, posters

Preschoolers love to brag about their achievements, pets, and everything in the world. Give your child his finest hour on his birthday - make your own collage from his most successful and favorite photographs. Try to cover all areas of your child’s life: family, friends, sports, creativity, four-legged pets. Come up with funny comments.

Photos of the child can be arranged in chronological order or placed randomly. The main rule is to put on public display only those photographs that the child himself approves, otherwise insults and quarrels cannot be avoided.

A wall newspaper dedicated to the birthday of a 5-year-old child is also designed with minimal use of text: perhaps little guests do not know how to read. Comics with short remarks or just beautiful pictures depicting characters from your favorite cartoons and books are suitable.

Give all guests the opportunity to participate in drawing a holiday poster: attach a blank sheet of Whatman paper to the wall, and place a pack of felt-tip pens nearby. Let each child write or draw a wish for the hero of the occasion. By the way, you can save such a poster and decorate your room with it for your next birthday.

Interesting ideas

To make your child’s fifth birthday memorable forever, try to decorate his room in an unusual way, using non-standard solutions or themes that are pleasant for the baby.

Girls aged 5 usually dream of princesses and corresponding paraphernalia. Great, create a fairy tale for your child with your own hands - hang posters with illustrations of your favorite fairy tale on the wall, build an impregnable castle from large cardboard boxes, place beautifully dressed dolls in its window and doorways. Well, prepare the dress for the young princess-birthday girl.

Boys are more often interested in technology - cars, trains, or the adventures of pirates and robots. We take the same materials and use the same techniques: posters, three-dimensional decorations. The pirate theme can be complemented by a chest of sweet “treasures”, especially if it is well hidden, and the child is offered a simple map.

A universal idea - a throne for the birthday boy. You will need a comfortable chair with a back, a little imagination, paper flowers, and brightly colored fabric. Drape the throne with material, decorate it with flowers, place it at the head of the table, and seat the hero of the day. The child will feel like a king at a feast dedicated to him. By the way, if you wish, you can also prepare a crown and a royal robe.

The tree of surprises will also not leave the child indifferent: it is easy to create a real miracle from a dry branch and a flower pot. Wash the branch, dry it, and cover it with spray paint. Place the workpiece in a pot with soil, hang a bag of surprises on each shoot.

Spare no time and effort to lovingly decorate your child’s room for his birthday with your own hands - happy childhood memories received at 5 years old will warm him all his life.

How to decorate a newborn boy's room

Everything is very simple here: in the first days of life, the baby only needs his mother, and his vision, purely physiologically, is very limited.

Therefore, we decorate the room for mom: we choose our favorite fresh flowers and some nice gift for the birth of the baby.

The hypoallergenic plush toy itself will be a good decoration for the crib and will arouse interest in the newborn, while he simply will not notice other elements of the holiday decor.

The only thing is that you shouldn’t decorate the room with a bunch of balloons, because when they burst, they make a loud, scary sound, and the kids wake up unhappy.

For two year old

How to decorate a room for a 2 year old boy's birthday? All of the above options are suitable here, but you should be concerned with the fact that the baby already walks and runs confidently, so do not install anything sharp or with corners.

He will also enjoy balloons, peeling napkins off numbers, and eating cake with his hands (by the way, this is also a very good and photogenic way to decorate this day, the room, and relatives).

For a three year old

In the future, the question arises of how to decorate a room for a 3-year-old boy.

Here you can already use more adult gifts that differ in functionality, for example, a folding wigwam. They assembled the structure while the child was sleeping, tied some bright flag to the top, even from his father’s Navy from his time in the army, and made his son happy in the morning.

A sports complex or a Swedish wall, which can simply be entwined with bright ribbons, will also be enthusiastically received. It’s better to save the balls for competitions with friends.

And the walls should be decorated with something anti-vandal and harmless, since during the holiday the little guests will take everything away for souvenirs.
