It is no secret that the regional Veterans Council has many excellent chairmen of primary veterans’ organizations. You could write a novel about each of them. My short story will be about one of these people. It is not by chance that we remember this wonderful man. On November 25, Valentin Mikhailovich Khudyakov celebrated his anniversary birthday.
70 years old. Is it a lot or a little? “A lot,” says the one who is 17. “Few,” the one who is 80-90 years old will answer. Where is the truth? And she's in the middle. There, childhood, adolescence, youth are left behind... It's a pity! Of course it's a pity! But does the candle of life go out at 70? No, it burns and flames, illuminates and warms.
Already 70 years have passed since the time when a boy named Valentin was born in Siberia, where he spent a carefree and amazing childhood, the memories of which are saturated with the brightest colors. After all, in childhood, life seemed somehow easy and everything that happened around did not matter much. It's time to go to school. School time is full of knowledge, discoveries and dreams! Valentin dreamed of a heroic-romantic profession; in particular, he wanted to become a sailor and continue the maritime dynasty, since his father served as a sailor on the Baltic Sea.
It's already fifth grade - new subjects, new teachers. It’s sad to say goodbye to a carefree, happy childhood, but a new part of life is coming - the romantic time of youth. Youth comes somehow imperceptibly, leaving childhood dreams, you feel the world around you in a new way. Youth fills life with new sensations and aspirations. Many peers, after Yuri Gagarin’s flight, practically switched to astronautics, but our hero remained true to his dream.
After 7th grade, the family moved to the Caucasus, to the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. There, in 1964, Valentin completed eight classes and began working as an assistant projectionist. In 1966, in the direction of the military registration and enlistment office, he completed driver courses.
Every person at a certain age begins to think about his future. About what he will do in the future. So thoughts begin to appear about what profession to choose. At this time, the older brother was demobilized from the ranks of the Soviet Army, who served as a driver and told a lot of interesting things about this profession. And our hero chose to become a driver. This profession is not only interesting, but unique in its kind. The road stretches endlessly in the summer through the thickets of Ivan-tea, and in the winter it shines with the whiteness and greenery of pine trees. You travel to different cities and see different people, discover new places.
In 1967, Valentin was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army as a special purpose unit. After demobilization, he returned home and got a job as a driver on the railroad. While working on the railway, he went to study at a technical school, after graduation he received a specialty in mechanics and worked first as an equipment repair engineer, and then as a safety engineer at the MRO Selkhoztekhnika.
While working as a civilian, Valentin met a pretty girl, Alevtina. First friendship arose, and then, as they say, a spark flashed and the flame of love flared up. It was the most memorable, dear and happiest day for him, when love came like a flood. In a word, the young people became spouses. Soon children were born - daughter Natasha and son Mikhail. In 1982, he and his family came to Vuktyl, which he had heard about for a long time. His wife’s mother, Maria Abramovna Shveikina, worked in Vuktyl since 1971. Several times the young couple came to visit their parents. The young people here really liked the nature, but they didn’t dare to come right away because they had small children. The children grew up and once again Valentin and his family came to visit. His father asked Valentin to work as a driver during his vacation. Our hero agreed and became attached to the north. In 1984, a daughter, Vuktylochka, was born. This city truly became a small homeland for him. Here he was hired as a 1st class driver in the tower assembly office of the Komigazprom association. And from that time on he worked as a simple driver. The life of our hero of the day is directly connected with intersections, traffic lights and road signs. After all, the profession of a driver is life on wheels. Having chosen his profession, Vladimir Mikhailovich remained faithful to it throughout his life.
Wherever he worked, he invested his irrepressible energy everywhere. Energy and optimism allowed him not only to work successfully, but also to conduct active social work. The hero of the day is a person with the highest sense of duty, with the same sense of humor, good attitude towards the world, he attracts people of all ages. He can find a common language with everyone, this is a special gift that is not given to everyone.
A man is judged by his deeds. For his active and conscientious work, Valentin received awards: numerous certificates of various levels, was awarded the “Winner of Socialist Competition” badge (1975, 1976, 1977), has the title “Shock Worker of Communist Labor”, was awarded the “Veteran of Labor” medal. All this is evidence of his professionalism . But his main reward is the respect of people. And he achieved all this through hard work. In life, our hero is used to relying only on himself, but he believes in kind, reliable and decent people.
After retiring, he was unable to leave public affairs and in 2007 he was elected chairman of the primary organization of UTT and ST veterans of Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta LLC in the city of Vuktyl and works to the present day. His energy does not allow him to remain aloof from the veteran movement. For active work in the veteran movement he was awarded the medal “Honorary Veteran of the Komi Republic”.
In the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears,” the heroine said that at 40, life is just beginning. Real life begins after 70 years. At this age, wisdom and experience reach their peak, the children have already grown up, there is no need to build a career.
Valentin Mikhailovich arrived at his venerable age and remarkable 70th birthday in full bloom, with irrepressible energy that would be the envy of young people.
