Games for the whole family

They unite, make holidays and family evenings bright and memorable, lift spirits and develop abilities, promote the development of creativity, the ability to manage one’s behavior, rejoice and empathize with each other.

Cup of peanuts

This competition involves teams with the same number of people (can be divided into juniors and seniors, or women and men, it all depends on the wishes of the family). Team members sit at the table opposite each other (rivals against rivals). In front of each participant, there is a glass at the same distance and a bag with the same amount of peanuts, for example. At the command “start”, participants take one peanut each and try to throw it into their opponent’s glass. The game lasts a minute or two. At the end of the game, the peanuts in all the individual team's cups are counted. In the end, the team that has fewer peanuts (that is, the opponents were unable to throw more peanuts) will be the winner.

Summer games for adults and children

Summer is a period of active recovery from the winter cold and boring evenings at home. At this time of year, many parents have the opportunity to spend more time with their children. When the summer school holidays begin and the first storm of emotions from the coming summer passes, you will most likely be thinking about what to do with your child. If your children are already tired of swimming and playing football, offer them new and interesting activities that will unite your whole family and provide you with warm memories for a lifetime. Spend this time doing activities that the whole family can participate in. Do you know what to play with your child in the summer?

Let's play travel

If the whole family is going to visit another region or another country, start your summer vacation by turning part of the house into the place where you are going. Study this country or region, find 2-3 distinctive features of this area and reproduce them at home. Plan daily educational games at home with your children on these imaginary journeys.

Let's have a picnic together

Even picnics can be turned into family games for children. For them it is always a small interesting and fun journey. And if you take with you not only your parents, but also your friends and their parents!... If your child goes to the senior group of a kindergarten or elementary school, contact the parents of his kindergarten or school friends and organize a joint picnic. Arrange for everyone to bring a blanket, various toys and, of course, something tasty. Before this activity, you and other parents should find out if any of your children have food allergies.

We organize a photo hunt

For older children or those interested in photography, organize a photo hunt. Prepare a list of items found in your yard or area. Take pictures of these items with your child, and then upload the pictures to your computer.

Celebrating Nature Protection Day

Your children and their friends can take part in environmental activities with you. Come up with 2-3 activities that help the environment, such as planting young trees and watching them grow over the summer. Collect old clothes and use them as work shorts and cover-ups. Let the children act out skits in their new outfits.

Gardening

The most interesting thing about the idea of gardening is that it is a very long activity that requires careful preparation, because you need to start taking care of the plants in early spring. Before you start organizing even the smallest vegetable garden or garden, look at catalogs and useful websites with your children, write down ideas, and then decide what you want to grow - flowers or vegetables? Children will love to monitor any plantings, and the harvest of vegetables will also come in handy in the kitchen. In the spring, go shopping for seeds and fertilizers, and in the summer, tend to your garden. Distribute the responsibilities for caring for the plants in the family, who will water and who will clean the garden, discuss the successes achieved together, and the fruits of your joint labor will bring great pleasure to the whole family.

Radio controlled models

Radio-controlled helicopters, cars, tanks or boats provide an excellent opportunity for exciting family competitions. Organize radio-controlled car races for speed, tank races with overcoming obstacles and hitting a conditional target, or helicopter flights along a given route and landing as accurately as possible. Determine the conditions for the competition and the criteria for identifying winners in advance with the whole family. Of course, such competitive battles on the ground or in the air will appeal to both children and adults.

Ice cream fights

The Ice Cream Fight game is similar to water fights and kids will love it on a hot summer day. Buy a few kilos of cheap ice cream, large spoons and go into the yard to have a fun sweet battle. Pay attention to the children's clothing - it is best to play in swimsuits. A prerequisite for the game is to clean your yard together at the end of the battle.

Reading competition

This is a very useful option for playing at home on the eve of the new school year. Pick a topic that you all would like to study. For each family member, select age-appropriate literature (books, magazines, newspapers, Internet sites) and help younger children read the material. On the board, write how many books each of you should read, and then write the name of each book or magazine you study under your name. Determine your reward system for reading more books and organize an award ceremony for the winners. A good idea before traveling anywhere would be to read literature about a new place and plan a travel and excursion route with the whole family.

Bicycle washing

You can arrange a bicycle wash in your yard using the example of a car wash. Prepare a sign with the words “Bicycle Wash”, collect water, cleaning products and sponges and invite the children to wash their bikes first, and then your neighbors may ask you to wash their bikes for a minimal fee. For your children, this activity will be a good example of how money is made in the family. Spend your entire joint salary on sweets for the whole family or put it in a common piggy bank.

Heirloom

Each family member receives a piece of paper and a pen. The family name is written on the piece of paper in letters in a column, for example Sidorov (a). At the command of the presenter, each participant begins to decipher his surname (write a characterizing word for each letter), thereby explaining the value of his surname, principles, morals, and so on. For example, S - Strong personality, I - intelligentsia, D - dignity and honor, O - responsibility, R - determination, O - ennoblement, V - will and bright mind. There are no limits to imagination, who can do what. Then each family member reads out and explains the meaning of their last name. Based on applause, the most creative and interesting transcript is selected, for which participants will receive prizes.

Who is this?

Another game somewhat similar to crocodile. The game requires 1 leader who will think of different words. It is best if it is a creative person. So, 1 participant stands in front of the other players, the leader whispers a word to him quietly, and this player must depict what the leader wished for him. He cannot say any words or sentences out loud. The other players must guess what word this player is depicting. The one who guessed the hidden word goes to the leader and he guesses the next word for him.

Keep it up

Everything that the elders in the family say, the younger ones must heed. This game involves couples (for example, grandfather and granddaughter, mother and son, father and daughter, grandmother and grandson, older sister and younger brother, and so on). Each pair receives two spools: one with thread and the other empty. At the command “start”, the older ones in pairs take full spools in their hands, and the younger ones take empty ones and begin to wind the threads from full to empty. The couple whose threads are rewound from a full spool to an empty spool faster than the others will be the winner.

Words

This game can also be played in different ways. It will help develop vocabulary and show ingenuity.

  • The first participant names a city, the second determines which letter the word ends with and names the city starting with that letter.
And so we play in a chain. Minsk—Krakow—Warsaw…
  • You can select a series of words starting with the same letter.
Specify in advance the condition that it must be a noun (verb, adjective) and you cannot think for more than 10 seconds. And then you choose a letter and start listing all the words starting with that letter one by one. K—room, chest of drawers, fire, jelly.

In a certain order

For this competition, the family must be divided in half (two teams with the same number of people). Each team selects one participant - the captain, who will take active action in the game. The presenter takes turns setting certain situations, and the captains place the members of their team in order in accordance with the given condition. For example, by age, starting with the youngest; by the amount of clothing worn at that moment; by the number of languages spoken by participants; by the number of changed professions (places of work) and so on. The team whose captain can handle each situation faster than his opponent will be the winner.

Find the number

This game will appeal to those who love attention tasks. Each player takes a sheet of paper in a box and draws a rectangle measuring 10*10 cells. This rectangle is filled with numbers from 1 to 99 in random order. You give this sheet of paper to your neighbor, and he gives you his sheet of paper with numbers. Then you say the number that your opponent must find. While he is looking for the hidden number, you put dots in each cell. The winner is the one who fills the entire sheet with dots.

The family understands you perfectly

For this competition, you will need a responsible presenter who must prepare notes with words in advance. The words will refer to the same topic. The presenter will take turns placing notes with words on the participants’ foreheads. For example, the topic: dacha, and the words could be: swing, watering hose, barbecue, vegetable garden, seedlings, greenhouse, curious neighbor, and so on. The participants of the game stand in a row - one after another. The presenter takes a note from the bag and attaches it to the forehead of the second participant, without showing it to anyone. The first participant turns to face the second participant with a note, reads what is written on his forehead and tries to explain in words what exactly it is. For example, if the word “hose” is written, the participant explains: it is long, it can be black and blue, or maybe a different color, it crawls around the garden, bubbles with water, and so on. And the participant who has this very note with the word on his forehead must guess what it is about. The presenter announces the topic on which the words will be written to family members in advance. When the second participant has guessed correctly, the presenter places a note on the forehead of the next participant. And the one who guessed now explains. And so on down the chain. At the end of the game, the smartest and fastest players will receive prizes.

  • New Year's quiz “In what words does the spruce grow?”

The festive feast is conducive to quiet games at the table. And even at the most fun and noisy holiday there will always be a place for such games. You can, for example, play “words”. One by one, remember and name the words within which “a spruce grows.”

Despite the fact that there are quite a lot of such words, it is not so easy to play such a game without preparation, so do not introduce any additional restrictions when naming the word (number of syllables, location of “spruce” in the word, etc.).

The only condition is that you need to name common nouns in the initial form.

The participant who cannot offer his own version of the word (of course, it is impossible to repeat himself) is eliminated from the game or gives away his forfeit, which will later be played together with others.

Words: “blizzard”, “caramel”, “jelly”, “dolphin”, “orange”, “writer”, “driver”, “delta”, “teacher”, “carousel”, “ashtray”, “furniture”, “gorge”, “loafer”, “drops”, “briefcase”, “stranded”, “target”, “panel”, “rail”, “housewarming”, “potatoes”, “mill”, “dumpling”, “Monday” " and etc.

Games, quizzes and fun competitions that you can spend on New Year's Eve at the table with your family.

Know-it-all

Another game that is somewhat reminiscent of the game “Who is it?” and "Crocodile". One participant thinks of a word, gives a brief description of this word and indicates how many letters it consists of. Another participant tries to guess this word. Every time the guesser makes a mistake, the first participant draws a sketch of the Know-It-All man. This little man can consist of 8-10-12 parts. It turns out that the player has the right to make 8-10-12 mistakes. Once the Know-It-All is completely drawn, the player loses and the game starts over. The game is perfect for both 2 participants and a large group (but you will have to choose a leader who guesses the words and draws the Know-It-All).

In addition, there are many other interesting games where you will need cards or other board games. Remember that spending time together is necessary to unite the family spirit, communicate, and exchange ideas. Some parents notice that children become more open, sociable and more willing to share their problems with their mother or father.
