I have long had the idea of ​​having a nautical-themed birthday party. I thought it would be a “trip to Hawaii,” but in the end the theme for Sonechka’s holiday was mermaids. My daughter has been dreaming for several months that she will have a cake with Ariel, and I have long had the idea of ​​a fairy tale about Sofia’s journey to the island of mermaids. The artist, Elena Novoselova, with whom I have been collaborating for several months, drew beautiful, kind illustrations for my fairy tale. Fortunately, I managed to type out the book and send it to print literally two days before we left for my parents. And my mother, who sews cute tilde dolls, knowing what the fairy tale would be about, made the little mermaid Marilena, the main character of the book, for Sofia. Of course, after Sonechka.

So, the guests gathered and our sea holiday began.

1. I told the children that since Sofia lives near the sea, our holiday today would be dedicated to the sea, and then I suggested that they get a little into the sea spirit and play the classic “The sea worries once.” The children were a little shy, so I got the best figures.

2. While our sea was agitated, it washed a chest onto the shore. And in the chest there was this letter. By the way, the day before I tried to age the paper a little by burning the edges and smearing it with tea. For the first time it turned out quite well.

3. As the little mermaid Ariel advised us, we decided to eat before departure (the experience of previous holidays showed that it is better to feed children first) and went to the kitchen. There were already mini-pizzas ready, which Grandma and Sonechka had made before the guests arrived. In addition, I offered the guests chopped fruit and wooden skewers to make fruit skewers. Some preferred pizza, while others were carried away by kebabs.

4. Having refreshed ourselves, we followed Ariel's instructions, took nine steps to the northwest and turned left. There we hoped to find the next letter, but we came across a pirate. The pirate, played by my mother, was very natural, not at all evil, but at the same time he managed to scare the only man on our team with his appearance.

   After our 3 year old was calmed down, the pirate offered us a game to play in exchange for a letter. This game is called “Sea-Land”. To carry it out, you need a rope (or a belt, in our case), which must be laid out on the floor in the shape of a circle. There will be a sea inside the circle and dry land outside. When the leader says “sea”, everyone jumps inside the circle, when “land” sounds, everyone jumps out of the circle. Gradually the pace quickens, and the presenter begins to confuse the players by repeating the same word several times in a row. You can play for the winner, excluding erring players from the game. I liked this game because even the little ones can play it, since the rules are simple. After the end of the game, the pirate happily gave us the following letter and expressed a desire to go with us. Here's what the next letter said:

5. Since my parents have their own home, we took advantage of everything to celebrate the holiday. We moved from the house to the street. The path leading from the house to the summer kitchen (the bathhouse is also located there) became a mountain path. Our path was blocked by an obstacle, which was a rope stretched across the path. There were toys tied to it with strings. They had to be cut off with scissors, after blindfolding them with a scarf. Since the children were small, we, of course, helped them. I really love this game. We always played it at my birthdays and everyone was happy. Even adults will love it, the main thing is to tie age-appropriate little things to the threads.
6. Our next destination was hot Africa. My daughter, of course, immediately realized that this was a steam room. Grandma heated it in advance. We needed it for a couple of seconds to get the last letter out of there, but it also came in handy later, when we were warming up the children after swimming in the pool. And here is the letter:

7. So, we went to meet a treacherous, but very pretty mermaid. I think my sister pulled off this look wonderfully. We wrapped large garbage bags around her legs; it was her tail. She stood in the water, in the pool, which, in turn, stands on an open veranda area, which can be accessed through the bathhouse. The insidious mermaid asked the children quite a lot of riddles in verses on a sea theme, and all of them were solved almost without the help of adults. I found riddles on the Internet, choosing those that corresponded to the age of the children.

8. No matter how sorry it was for the mermaid to give away the treasures, she had to part with them. The treasures were hidden in a bag underwater. They got a little wet, but it’s not scary, I specifically chose gifts that are not afraid of water.
9. And then there was swimming, cake with Ariel, which Sofia was looking forward to. We also bought special pencils for drawing on faces, which the children really liked. The treasure hunt itself took us about half an hour. The children were not tired and were very pleased with the game and gifts. I deliberately selected competitions and tasks that were very easy, because the youngest guest was only two years old, and she took part in the adventure from beginning to end.
