Take care of food and drinks
What is a karaoke party without alcohol? Don't be afraid to offer your guests cocktails or just beer. Most likely, people will not dare to approach the microphone until they have had a few drinks. Make sure there is a variety of drinks on the table so that everyone can find something to suit their taste. For food, prepare small treats and place them separately. This way, guests can have a snack between songs without disturbing other performers. These could be chips, crackers, salted nuts, cheese and vegetable slices, olives, fresh berries or small cakes.
Karaoke entertainment
Karaoke in its pure form, when guests simply pass each other the line of performance, is unlikely to make any of the party participants bored. However, if you create an original scenario, a karaoke party can be turned into a spectacular and unforgettable celebration.
Karaoke party in the office helps to unite the team
Competitions for a karaoke party will allow you to involve the maximum number of participants in the action and will become a real highlight of the evening. Karaoke competitions are by no means limited to vocal competitions for the jury prize or audience choice. Here are just a few interesting options:
"Who will outsing whom"
— participants individually or divided into teams compete to see who can remember the most songs on a given topic.
"Twin Competition"
- participants portray the performers who own this or that composition. To prepare for such a competition, it is worth stocking up on accessories, wigs, characteristic items of clothing, etc. in advance.
"Guess the musician"
— a piece of paper is attached to each participant’s back with the name of a popular performer, whom he himself cannot see. By asking questions of other guests, the contestant must guess which singer he should impersonate and then perform his song.
"Guess the melody"
— guests must guess the composition based on several initial sounds and sing a short excerpt of it correctly.
"Imagine a song"
— several participants act out a silent scene from a famous film or cartoon, the rest of the guests must guess the intended musical composition.
All you have to do is apply a little imagination, and the karaoke party you organize will be remembered by all guests for a long time. The MojoMedia editors love karaoke. Not a single corporate event has ever been complete without the high notes struck by the author BroDude and the velvety voice of the editor-in-chief of Heroine. Thanks to this tradition, we have already formed a list of songs without which not a single “concert” takes place. We decided to share with you our top hits.
What is the difference?
To be honest, it’s a controversial name, but it’s the name that has become popular among the people. For those who understand the terminology, the phrase “live karaoke” means something like this:
- In addition to the karaoke machine, which prompts the lyrics and the moment of the artist's introduction, there will be musicians. For example, we have a guitarist and keyboard player. Of course, all the equipment is competently managed by the sound engineer, without him nothing will work!
- A singer (or even two singers) sings with you, but what would it be like without backing vocals :-). Just imagine how much richer your performance becomes
- The program is led by a charming presenter, who before each number makes original connections, talks about the song, and pompously introduces the performer.
- If you prepare well, you can organize a small stage to make you feel like a real artist
- And if you're even better prepared (I'm talking about money now), you can add stage lighting
- Finally, all this can be filmed on camera (or several cameras) so that there is a memorable clip for memory
The minimum price will be if you undertake to implement point 1. Adding each point incurs additional costs, I think this is obvious!
Corporate music party
“Friends’ Evening” is a simple and inexpensive program for a musical corporate party .
The purpose of this corporate event is relaxed relaxation, fun and communication among colleagues, friends, and partners. The optimal, time-tested scenario for a corporate party is good and varied music, an interesting competition program and, of course, dancing.
There is no complex program, confusing storyline, guest artists or performers. Everything is very simple - your company, the host of the evening with an assistant - an animator and a DJ.
All companies are different, so we will definitely coordinate the musical repertoire, the content of the competition program, and possible nuances with the Customer.
Music
Our DJs have a rich music library with a large supply of music in various musical styles. The most popular musical accompaniment for corporate parties is popular modern music, hits of the 70-90s in the original or in the form of modern arrangements, compositions from favorite films.
If your company has special musical preferences, please notify us in advance.
Sound volume is a frequent subject of dispute when organizing a corporate event. We always try to find a compromise between the volume of the music with the ability to communicate and hear each other.
Party hosts
The host is the main figure at any party. The success of the event largely depends on his or her preparation, charm, behavior, and manner of communication.
The format of a corporate holiday places increased demands on the candidacy of the Host. Experiments and holding an event in a “wedding” style are unacceptable here. That is why we are very careful in selecting Presenters.
All our Presenters have significant experience in conducting corporate events. This helps to take into account the peculiarities of the corporate culture of the Customer’s company.
At the Customer's request, CVs of the Presenters can be provided.
How to host a karaoke party
Table singing is no longer in fashion, but solo, duet or group singing accompanied by a soundtrack is popular again. Moreover, in Moscow, themed karaoke parties are in vogue, where singing is the main part of the entertainment. How to organize a karaoke party?
Equipment for karaoke parties
The most important thing in such an event is the appropriate equipment. For a small company, this is a special karaoke player or DVD player with this function. But if a large party is planned, professional equipment is required, for example, a computer karaoke system.
It is very important that the sound equipment is loud enough. An amplifier may be needed to help music and singing cover the general noise. The next required attribute is microphones. At a minimum, you need two of them, and if there are a lot of guests, then four, and it’s better to have wireless ones so that no one gets tangled in the wires.
A karaoke-style party is unthinkable without soundtracks. In specialized karaoke systems there are a huge number of them in any musical style. But for the player or player, prepare DVDs with backing tracks of hits from different years and genres, so that each guest can find their favorites.
Karaoke party scenario
If you let the holiday take its course, giving guests the opportunity to have fun on their own, not everyone will have fun. The party will turn out to be interesting and memorable if it is held according to a pre-planned scenario.
In addition to traditional karaoke competitions with singing for prizes from the jury, there are also more original entertainment.
- "Who will win". The task of the singers, individually or in teams, is to remember and sing as many songs as possible from a particular artist or on a given topic.
- "Doubles". A very fun idea with dressing up and parodying hit singers (requires a supply of accessories, wigs and outfits).
- "Guess the melody". Participants compete to see who can recognize a song from just a few notes.
- "Who sings?" A piece of paper with the name of the star is cling to the back of the contestants, whose song must be performed, having first guessed who he is. To do this, the participant asks questions to the guests.
- "Pantomime". The team must silently depict a scene with a song from a movie or cartoon, and when the guests guess right, sing it.

Music of my soul: How karaoke clubs make money on the festive atmosphere
Sunday is the most difficult day for a karaoke owner. Iliodor Marač opened five karaoke shops in his life, two of which are still in operation (“Hysterical” and “Spotlight”). Every Sunday he solves problems that arose after unbridled fun on Friday and Saturday: someone got punched in the face, someone was threatened with a gunshot, someone's girlfriend was given an inappropriate compliment.
Marach will not be surprised by the news from Breakingmad: “An Ulyanovsk resident criticized a girl’s singing in karaoke and received a head injury.” “Karaoke is the most controversial business in the entertainment industry in Moscow. There aren’t that many fights in nightclubs, stripteases or restaurants,” he says. — People come here to actively drink and show off their talents. There are many factors that can make them angry: the queue for a song, bad singing of others. Or there was another case in my practice - one general got into a fight with the guys performing a composition in Greek. He approached them and said: “Are you not patriots? Are Russian songs not enough for you?” It ended in a fight."
Marach has been doing karaoke since 2000 and promises not to open another similar establishment - the business is too difficult and unpleasant. To an ordinary Muscovite, and not a bar owner, the first thing that may seem unpleasant about karaoke is the price tag: the average deposit for a table in the capital’s karaoke is 20,000 rubles.
“The Secret” figured out how the karaoke market works in Moscow and why residents of the capital continue to leave half their salaries for the opportunity to sing “A Glass of Vodka on the Table” in public.
What types of karaoke are there?
Karaoke "Yan-Pen" on Pokrovka, which opened in 1998, is one of the first typical Asian karaoke clubs in the capital. It has several small rooms rented by different companies. The cost of renting a room for eight people here will cost 900 rubles per hour, for 15 people - 1,500 rubles. On Friday and Saturday, an additional deposit is charged - 5,000 and 10,000 rubles per room, respectively. The number of Asian karaoke venues in Moscow is dwarfed by the number of American-style establishments, where guests line up to publicly perform on stage in front of other visitors.
You can find karaoke in almost every second establishment in the capital, but in most cases these are restaurants that have purchased inexpensive equipment for additional entertainment for guests. Real karaoke bars are a completely different business. “Buying a karaoke machine for a million does not mean opening a karaoke shop,” says Alena Diamond, creative director of the event marketing agency SmartMotion. According to her estimates, investments in full-fledged karaoke range from 4 to 20 million rubles and more. One equipment now costs from 4 million rubles.
There are about 500 full-fledged karaoke places in the capital. Among them there are inexpensive clubs, where the average bill barely exceeds 1,000 rubles, but the bulk of the market is premium establishments with a deposit of 15,000 to 250,000 rubles per table. Such clubs include karaoke “Gelsomino”, Who is Who, Voice, Dorffman, “Leps”. Eight to ten people can sit at a table for 25,000 - 30,000 rubles. The cost of a table depends on the class of the establishment and the day of the week. Inexpensive karaoke places are mostly located outside the city center. On Friday and Saturday there is always a deposit, but on weekdays each establishment determines its own conditions. According to Alena Diamond, depending on the season, the turnover of the premium club averages 5–12 million rubles per month. Sometimes you get lucky and you can earn 4 million rubles overnight thanks to your broad Russian soul.
The main working days for karaoke are Friday, Saturday and sometimes Thursday. Rare establishments earn something on other days. People come to karaoke late, sometimes after having dinner and drinks at home or in a restaurant, and sit until the morning. To cover the costs of rent, electricity, a kitchen, night shift staff, a sound engineer, and a band performing during breaks, you need to earn as much as possible from a limited number of visitors in a limited time. In profitable restaurants, a 900-1500% markup is a common thing, says Diamond: “You can come to a restaurant and take 100 g of fruit for 400 rubles, but at karaoke you will most likely pay 2500 rubles for the same fruit.” In addition to the deposit, karaoke visitors are often offered to pay for the performance of a song - 500 rubles. For an additional 3,000–5,000 rubles you can sing without waiting in line.
During the crisis, karaoke began to earn a little less. In the premium segment, the average bill decreased by 10–20%; in the Lubyanka karaoke cafe, where the deposit is 1,000 rubles per person, one visitor on average began to spend 35% less. “But the number of people hasn’t changed much. I go to other karaoke places, and, of course, they are too expensive. We have reasonable prices, which now allows us to compete with our neighbors, where deposits are 15,000 - 30,000 rubles per table,” says Christina, manager of the Lubyanka cafe.
Who goes to karaoke
“I am a musician myself and love to sing. My friends and I used to often go to karaoke, but there were almost no establishments in Moscow where we wouldn’t be ashamed to appear. I had to open my own,” recalls Iliodor Marach. He calls himself the founder of fashionable karaoke in Moscow and tells how in 2000 he opened the Japanese restaurant “Yellow Sea” with karaoke, which immediately became popular, and then the no less popular karaoke PradoCafe. At the same time, other places with a price tag above average began to appear: “Gelsomino”, “Duets”, “Courchevel”. People with money went to karaoke.
Most karaoke visitors are people over 26 years old. Those who already earn money come here. “In the 2000s, Muscovites hung out in clubs, it was fun, there was a holiday. Then they grew out of the clubs, the clubs closed. But the habit of going out somewhere remains, they still want it to be fun. Once a month they go to karaoke and are willing to pay for the atmosphere,” says Nikita Tataev, manager of the Kadrille karaoke club.
In addition to the wealthy Muscovite, one more typical visitor to karaoke is the karaokeer. “Karaoke is a drug. When you sing, something is produced there and you experience euphoria, I know from myself,” admits General Producer of the Russian Karaoke Championship Mikhail Bebing. Every Monday he and his colleagues hold a competition in one of the capital’s establishments. In premium-segment establishments, karaokeers are treated with skepticism. Their main difference from Muscovites who come to relax is the size of the check. If a karaokeer can take a pot of tea and sing all night, ordinary guests sometimes leave more than 100,000 rubles per night. “Professional karaokeers do not bring income to the establishment. We cherish and cherish the paying public,” says Alena Diamond from SmartMotion. She explains that the deposit level serves as a face control: “Those establishments that form their own specific audience survive. If a table costs 80,000 rubles, only those who can afford it will go there. The clubs themselves determine the visitors they want and those they don’t want.”
