LATINA PARTY
Quite a popular and fashionable trend in organizing events.
Having quite a lot of experience in the Russian event market, we can safely outline several main components of the success of a themed evening:
- Decor and design
- Welcome part
- Entertainment part
- Interactive part
- Finale of the event
So, have you decided to organize a party in Latin style and immerse your guests in the haze of a real Caribbean breeze? Let's get started!
Mexican style party
What we're throwing: a Mexican-style party. Mexico is a bright, sunny country with very cheerful, temperamental and sociable people. Cacti, ponchos, maracas, tequila... So many attractive things! If you want to visit Mexico, you can go to a travel agency or throw a Mexican party. The Mexican theme will raise the temperature of any holiday, making it hot like chili, fiery like Mexican dancing, and hot like the temperament of the Mexicans!
What we celebrate:
In fact, a Mexican theme can be chosen for any holiday: be it a birthday, New Year or a corporate anniversary. And if you don’t need an official reason to throw a party, you can organize a Mexican party on any weekend or choose one of the Mexican holidays for this event.
For example, on February 5 you can celebrate Mexican Constitution Day , May 5 - Victory Day at Pueblo , September 16 - Mexican Independence Day , November 22 - St. Cecilia's Day, a holiday of Mexican musicians , December 25 - Catholic Christmas . Before the Great Catholic Lent, a carnival week takes place in Mexico - what is not a reason for a Mexican party?
Where we celebrate:
Where it is convenient to celebrate: at home, in a cafe, in the fresh air.
How we hold a party:
1. Theme and name of the event
Mexican style party. A Mexican party can have an original name: for example, “Hot Maracas”, “Mexican Party”, “Crazy Fiesta”, “Tequila Boom”, “Party on the Hacienda” , etc.
2. Setting for a Mexican party
Interior. To decorate the venue for a Mexican party, you can use:
* tablecloths and other textiles characterized by bright colors. Striped and patterned fabrics are suitable. Actively use orange, bright yellow, blue and green colors, combining them. Remember the striped homespun runners and woven rugs of our grandmothers? If you find these, be sure to use them;
* multi-colored satin ribbons - they can be hung anywhere and tied however you like;
* flowers with large, bright buds. These can be homemade paper flowers;
* cacti. Of course, what would a Mexican party be without cacti? Cacti can be real, if, of course, you manage to collect them. But you can buy fake cacti or toy cacti - plastic or plush. Very beautiful figures of cacti are made from balloons - for this you need to turn to the services of a company specializing in balloon decoration. Posters, pictures, photographs and panels depicting cacti will also be useful;
* fruit baskets, especially limes or lemons;
* numerous sombreros hanging on the walls and ceiling. Sombreros can be made from cardboard and painted with bright colors;
* wickerwork: baskets, fruit bowls, boxes, lamps, pieces of furniture, dishes on the table.
Well, all sorts of Mexican “stuff”:
* maracas; * chili peppers, for example, in the form of a garland; * guitar (if you find an old guitar, you can brightly paint it and hang it in a prominent place, and for a large party you can order “guitars” made from balloons); * Mayan hieroglyphs; * Mayan pyramids in miniature; * “pot-bellied” vases with bright multi-colored paintings; * Mexican flag and/or garland of balloons in the color of the Mexican flag, etc.

Cactusomania in Mexican style
The music at a Mexican-style party should also be special - in the Latin style.
Dress code for a Mexican party. If you want your guests to express themselves, you should simply set “Mexican-style clothing” as the dress code. Eh, what can they come up with! However, you can also be more specific: for example, “Poncho and sombrero”, or “Chaps and only chaps”, “Seven colors in clothes” .
In general, get creative! For guests who come without hats, you can prepare a mini sombrero made of cardboard the size of a saucer - such hats are held on the head with a thin elastic band.
A girl can come to a Mexican party like this:
Or like this:

Or like this:
Preparing props for the start of a Mexican party. Place a tray with shot glasses filled with tequila and a plate with lemon slices on a separate table - all according to the number of party participants. You will also need badges (you can take badges or paper medals on a string) with the inscription “I am Mexican” or “I am Mexican,” followed by any name typical of Mexico. For example, “I am Mexican Pedro” or “I am Mexican Juanita.” Names should not be repeated. Place the badges next to the tequila tray, separated by male and female names.
Hide ten replicas of various fruits around the party venue. You can also take real fruits, making marks on them (so as not to be confused with fruits prepared for the treat). You need to hide the fruits so that finding them is not difficult. For example, hang a banana on a string on a curtain, put a lemon under one of the chairs, hide an apple on a chandelier, etc.
3. Progress of the event “Party in Mexican style”
First, everyone who comes goes through the procedure of initiation into Mexicans . To do this, you need to drink tequila, eat a slice of lemon and get a badge. The icon is selected randomly (they can be flipped in advance). It is only important that the name matches the gender.
Then guests can be invited to either a Mexican bar or Uncle Pedro's hacienda - it depends on the place where the party is held and its decoration. And, of course, it depends on the wishes of the organizer. In essence, guests are invited to the tables.
Next, the Host (this could be the same Uncle Pedro, Mother Choli or Anna Rosita Juanita Sanchos Parero) initiates the newly minted Mexicans into the secret and thereby outlines the idea of the event:
— Uncle Juan Carlos (former owner of a hacienda, if it is a hacienda, or former owner of a Mexican bar) hid a box of tequila and sweets somewhere nearby. I can guess where the box is hidden, but I will only exchange this information for a dozen bananas and other fruits for my monkey. You find the hidden fruits, and I tell you where Uncle Juan Carlos's box is. In the meantime, you can have a light snack and drink.
A few minutes later, the Host announces that he will allow the search for fruit only after the guests have entertained him. Then various games, competitions, and entertainment are held, after each of which the participants find one hidden fruit. When all ten fruits are found, the Host will give a hint to the location of the box with tequila and sweets. Guests find a box and sit down at the table to drink tequila, eat hot food, and then dance and have fun in every way.
Mexican party: games, competitions, entertainment
First entertainment: “Guess the song”
The presenter reads a line from a famous song. Only this line is an alteration in the Mexican style, and sometimes also a reversal. If guests cannot find the answer, the Host can give hints. The guest who gives the most answers can be awarded a prize. At the end, the Leader offers to find the first fruit.
Mexican adaptation:
* “The tornado squealed a hymn to him: sleep, cactus, go to sleep...” (The blizzard sang a song to her: sleep, Christmas tree, bye-bye...).
* A caballero walks full of strength along the Colorado River (a young Cossack walks along the Don).
* Marianna, Marianna, this state of Guerrero is yours and mine (Alexandra, Alexandra, this city is ours with you).
* And I strum the guitar in full view of the senors and senoritas (And I play the harmonica in full view of passers-by).
* Juan Carlos brought canoes with shrimp to Acapulco (Kostya brought scows full of mullet to Odessa).
* Don’t get sick, have a lot of tequila in stock, and we went home, to our hacienda (So be healthy, live richly, and we’re going home, to the hut).
* A conglomerate of disparate states was united forever by small Mexico (the indestructible Union of free republics was united forever by Great Rus').
Changelings in the Mexican style:
* “Caballero, caballero, burst into tears, because tears are a symbol of the desert!” (Captain, captain, smile, because a smile is the flag of a ship!). * “Oh, the agave is withering on the ground by the ocean” (Oh, the viburnum is blooming in the field by the stream). * “On the prairie the bush dried up, on the prairie it did not grow at all” (A Christmas tree was born in the forest, it grew in the forest). * “And the senoritas are all the same: white, black, green” (And the girls are different: black, white, red)
Second entertainment: Mexican proverbs
The presenter distributes paper sheets to the participants on which Russian (or well-known in Russia) proverbs, sayings, catchphrases, and memes are written. Task: change the phrase, introducing a Mexican flavor into it. First, the Presenter can read out ready-made modified phrases as an example:
* The sombrero gets in the way of a bad caballero * If you are afraid of coyotes, don’t go to the prairie * There’s no point in blaming the moon if you sat down on a cactus in the dark * You can’t even pull a cactus out of the sand without difficulty * It’s siesta time, it’s time for tequila * The caballeros cried, shot up, but continued to press tequila * Your poncho is closer to your body * The lucky caballero was born wearing a sombrero * Juanita - from the balcony, it’s easier for Carlos * A cactus is close, but you won’t bite * Looking for a needle in the cactus thickets * According to Haun and the sombrero * Storks bring some people, but Mexicans are in cacti they find * You can’t hide a skunk in a bag... * The beauty will look - as if she’ll give her a peso.
Then the participants get to work on their own. Humor and creativity are welcome. You can offer several options. When everyone has completed the task, you can choose the best option by voting and award the author a prize. Then the Leader suggests finding the second fruit.
Third entertainment: A small table game of words “Sombrero and his amigos”
The presenter shows the sombrero, talks a little about its history and significance for the Mexican, and then offers to remember and name the “relatives” of the sombrero - that is, any headdresses, including those that are part of the folk costume and those that have fallen out of use. Participants in a chain name one headdress at a time; they cannot be repeated. Whoever calls last is considered the winner and receives a prize, and all participants together are awarded the right to find the third fruit.
Fourth entertainment: Game "Cactus"
Several volunteers are called. Each person is given a large fresh cucumber (hard, elastic) and a dozen toothpicks. At the leader's command, participants must insert all the toothpicks into the cucumber, making a cactus. Whoever does it faster gets a small prize. However, the presenter does not let the participants go, but invites them to remove the thorns from the cactus - that is, take out the toothpicks. But this should only be done with your teeth. Whoever is faster wins and receives a prize. After that, everyone is looking for the fourth fruit.
Fifth entertainment: Game “Abrasador Macho”
Volunteers are called (preferably men). In front of each person, the presenter places a plate with ten lemon slices. Participants, at the command of the leader, must first put one circle in their mouth and, without swallowing, say: “Abrasador macho.” Then, without removing or swallowing the first slice of lemon, you need to put the second one in your mouth and say again: “Abrasador macho.” You need to do the same with the remaining lemon slices. However, the time is strictly limited - exactly a minute. Whoever has the fewest lemon slices left on the plate wins. Then the Host invites all party participants to find the fifth fruit.
Sixth entertainment: Game “Sharp Mexicans”
An inverted sombrero is placed on the floor. Those who volunteer to participate receive a set of items: 3 playing cards, 3 coins and 3 beans. Participants take turns throwing one object at a time, trying to hit the sombrero. The distance should be at least one and a half meters. The leader counts who hit the target how many times. As a result, the most accurate person who throws the most objects into the sombrero wins a prize. Then comes the search for the sixth fruit.
Seventh entertainment: Game “Mexican Chef”
The presenter concludes: “In Mexico they love and value beans very much - almost in the same way that Italians honor their pasta, and we value buckwheat. Boiled beans require careful handling. Let's see if any of you could work as a Mexican chef? Two containers are placed in front of each participant: one is empty, and the other contains dry beans. Participants need to imagine that it is not dry, but boiled. A tool is also provided - tweezers or any forceps. Task: transfer the beans from one bowl to another as quickly as possible, without touching the product with your hands, but using only tweezers. Whoever is faster gets the laurels of the winner. And the fastest one can be presented with a diploma as a Mexican chef. After this, the guests look for the seventh fruit for the Host's monkey.
Eighth entertainment: Comic bullfight
The presenter talks about how people in Mexico love bullfighting no less than in Spain. A bull-torero pair is selected. You can put fake horns on the bull's head. A torero is hung on his back with a piece of paper with some Mexican-themed word written in large letters.
The bull's task: read the word on the bullfighter's back. The bullfighter's job is to stop the bull from doing this. You cannot push or grab each other with your hands. Only hugs are allowed, but not too tight. The presenter puts on a musical composition during which a bullfight takes place. Several pairs of bullfighters and bulls can participate simultaneously. If the bull can see and read the word on the back of his bullfighter, then the prize goes to him. If by the end of the song he could not do this, then the bullfighter becomes the winner. The results are summed up, after which the search for the eighth fruit begins.
Ninth entertainment: Game “Mexican Ribbons”
You will need ribbons approximately 20-30 cm long. There should be as many ribbons as there are guests. The color of the ribbons should be different: one third of the ribbons should be red, the other third should be white, and another third should be green. The presenter should emphasize that these are the colors of the Mexican flag.
Three volunteers are called. Each person is given ribbons of the same color. At the command of the host, the players begin to tie one of their ribbons on the wrists of the guests. But if you already have a ribbon of a different color on your wrist, you cannot tie your own. This means that you need to act quickly in order to have time to “tie” as many guests as possible with your ribbons. When someone runs out of ribbons or there are no guests left untied, the results are summed up: whoever tied the most ribbons is the winner. Next is the presentation of the prize and the search for the ninth fruit.
If the company is small, the competition can be changed: not three participants are called, but six. Divided into pairs. Each pair is given ten ribbons of the same color. One of the couple must tie all the ribbons on his partner’s body as quickly as possible. The couple whose ribbons are tied the fastest wins. Immediately after this, you can hold a competition for the fastest untie of ribbons.
Tenth entertainment: “Total Recall”
The presenter asks to remove the badges (badges, medals) that were distributed during initiation into Mexicans. The badges bore various names. Now the host will check how attentive the guests were and what their memory is. He calls one guest at a time and asks the others to remember what name was on his badge. Everyone who remembers gets a small prize. Then the icons can be returned. After this, the guests look for the last, tenth, fruit.
The host takes ten fruits for his monkey and gives a hint to the guests where the box with tequila and sweets is hidden. You can give a map that will help guests find the “treasure of Uncle Juan Carlos” or give a clue with a riddle. When the box is found, everyone sits down at the table. The found tequila is poured and served hot. The Mexican party continues.

MEETING WITH GUESTS
At the entrance guests are greeted by (optional):
- a group of mariachi musicians (trio) in traditional costumes
- Cuban or Brazilian couple
- bartender or hostess - a restaurant employee in stylized clothing greets guests, offers drinks and national snacks
National snacks at WELCOME
- dried fruits
- fried banana
- papareyena (potato zrazy with meat)
- Mexican chips with sauce
- Rum on WELCOME 50 g (poured by the bartender or glasses already poured)
Party location
For a party on a Brazilian scale, you need an appropriate place, it’s best if it’s
- night club with a long podium and dance floor.
- You can also organize this event in some spacious restaurant,
- in a community center or even
- outdoors, naturally, if you plan to hold the party in the summer.
So, if your choice falls on a nightclub, then you need to think about the surroundings of the room.
- To make the party fully bright, hang many, many lamp garlands from the ceiling,
- You can also use neon lights.
- It’s good if palm trees are placed around the perimeter of the room; real ones are better, but artificial ones are also quite suitable.
- Cover the podium where your mini-carnival will take place with a large number of pink petals.
- Alternatively, tables at a party can be decorated with flower garlands flowing from the edges of the tablecloths.
- In the background of the podium, it would be nice to put a large screen on which video clips of luxurious and large-scale Brazilian carnivals would be shown.
- Fireworks can be another addition to a Latino party; you need to be very careful with them, so here you need to enlist the help of pyrotechnicians, otherwise it is better to avoid using fireworks.
ENTERTAINMENT PART
The basis of any party is the host and musical accompaniment. Show groups also play an important role, filling the program with relevant thematic performances. But first things first.
LEADING is a vector that sets the direction and tone. His task is to consolidate, unite and immerse the evening's participants in real Latin America. With the help of competitions, games, and quizzes, he unobtrusively introduces guests to the national culture, involving everyone in an exciting journey through the countries of the Caribbean.
MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT is an aspect to which special attention should be paid. It is a huge mistake to invite an instrumental national group to the whole evening. We must not forget that we still live in Russia, and our ears are somewhat unfamiliar with folk Cuban or Mexican instruments, so it’s not worth boring the audience for 7-9 hours with archaic compositions. We recommend 2 options: an instrumental Latin American group + Russian vocalists (or just a DJ) or a universal international group with a diverse repertoire from the 70s to the 2000s.
DISCO LATINA ALANSHOW is the only VOCAL-DANCE Latin American group on the Russian stage with an unchanged composition, combining the most fashionable styles of Western pop music and a colorful performance of a dance-interactive program with elements of ACROBAtics! (photo in black and white suits)
THE BRAZILIAN SHOW is a luxurious, unique splendor, a breathtaking spectacle with fantastic performances and sparkling costumes! This is a show that has no equal, featuring participants in the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo carnivals, as well as winners of international dance competitions!
THE CUBAN DRUM SHOW is a fiesta full of the fiery rhythms of Liberty Island, frantic rumba and conga rhythms that embody an exciting, dynamic, live performance!
AFRICAN DRUM SHOW - a carnival drum-ethnic dance show, a bright performance with national costumes and instruments, involving the viewer in the original traditional African rituals with drum rhythms!
CAPOEIRA is a shocking form of martial art combined with acrobatics and dance. Brazilian music, drumming, crazy acrobatic stunts performed by luxuriously built capoeirists bring the viewer into indescribable delight and trigger a storm of thunderous applause!
Entertainment
Live Latin American music will not allow guests to sit still - be sure to organize dance competitions! Dance samba and cha-cha-cha, rumba and lambada, jive and paso doble. So that guests don’t feel embarrassed, turn on a video of dancing in the background - this way your friends will quickly figure out what’s what. More ideas:
- Cut out large comical sombreros from paper. Let the couples dance in such a way as to crush the unfortunate hat with their bodies as much as possible;
- the most passionate invitation to dance (a test of artistic talent for men);
- the most dancing belly (and this is an “exam” for ladies);
- play “Limbo” (to the music, while dancing, walk under the crossbar, which drops lower and lower);
- dance forfeits (coconut or any fruit, a list of playful wishes). Guests dance, passing an object from hand to hand, the DJ sometimes stops the melody. The one in whose hands the fruit remained during the pause selects a card from the tray and performs a forfeit.
Diversify the scenario with games not related to dancing - guests will be able to take a break from the active fun. Any fun will do, within the framework of the morals of your company.
Examples:
- catch the egg. Two teams, one has eggs in their hands, the other has hats. At the leader’s signal, the eggs fly towards the “goalkeepers”, who must catch them with their hats. You need to blow the contents out of the eggs through the holes, but it is not necessary to inform guests about this (especially those who have to catch);
- pink relay race (not very hygienic, so only for real friends). Guests are divided into two teams and line up in two lines. The goal is to pass the rose (without thorns!) from the first participant to the last, holding the stem with your teeth;
- competition for couples “Eat it”. As a prop - a banana, tangerine or candy in a wrapper. The guy and girl must unwrap (or peel) the treat without using their hands and eat it faster than their opponents.
The bright end of the scenario will be a rain of streamers, sparkles and candies, pouring down on the guests from a huge colorful piñata!
INTERACTIVE PART
A cigar show (tobaquero) is a unique entertainment for guests - the production and tasting of freshly rolled cigars. In front of the guests present, the torcedor - a professional cigar roller - will demonstrate his skill: turning tobacco leaves into a real cigar!
TEQUILA GIRLS - beautiful seductive girls parading around the hall and offering different types of tequila, in cowboy clothes - a must-have element of the party. Each guest is always pleased to receive a portion of heady tequila from the hands of a hot beauty, isn’t it?
Cocktailero - right before each guest, a virtuoso Cuban bartender will demonstrate the skill of preparing exotic cocktails and reveal the secret of national recipes!
Decor
Latino is a popular theme for parties, and all decorations can be purchased or rented. Or make it yourself by cutting it out and assembling it from bright paper:
- decorate the ceiling with colorful garlands of flowers hanging vertically down;
- place tubs around the hall with lush palm trees or fruit-bearing citrus trees (artificial or paper, you can borrow house plants from friends);
- hang pictures or photos of dancing couples on the walls;
- cut out maracas, guitars, banjos, drums and other musical instruments from thick cardboard;
- put fruits in the sombrero or place exotic flowers;
- for draping furniture, buy fabric with bright multi-colored stripes or red thick satin;
- decorations from hot pepper pods and corn cobs will give the hall a special, folk flavor;
- lush bright feathers gathered into “peacock tails” will remind guests of the Brazilian carnival.
If you don’t have time to fuss with paper and scissors, rent a room decorated in bright rich colors. Hang colorful balls from the ceiling, place clay vases with flowers, several silhouettes of dancing couples on the walls - you're done!
All the mentioned attributes and associations are suitable for an invitation. For example, a postcard in the shape of a hot pepper or a bright striped sombrero, a silhouette of dancers or a musical instrument. Or make a flyer using a printer and suitable images.
COCKTAIL CARD
- Mojito: a drink made with rum, soda, sugar, lemon juice, ice, and mint. This was the favorite drink of the famous writer Ernest Hemingway.
- Daiquiri: Drinks made with rum, ice (frappeado, or chunks), lemon juice and sugar. — This is a traditional drink in a bar. There are several variations of this cocktail, like Daiquirí Floridita, Hemingway Daiquirí, Banana Daiquirí or Strawberry Daiquirí.
- Cuba Libre (Cubata): a cocktail resulting from a mixture of rum and Coca-Cola. In Spain it was called Cubata, and this is a middle name that it no longer recognizes. The drink is very refreshing, include a few drops of lemon and a few ice cubes.
- Pina Colada: Despite the fact that this drink was not born in Cuba, it is already part of the tradition of the Caribbean islands, because you cannot visit Cuba without drinking the delicious combination of pineapple juice and coconut milk.
- Chairman: This refreshing cocktail should be prepared with a measure of vermut black, white rum, a few drops of Grenadine, small pieces of ice, and finally should be served in a glass with a cherry and orange peel
- Saoko: drinks made from coconut water and sugarcane vodka or rum
- Cuban Ginger: drinks made with non-alcoholic apple liqueur and ginger ale. Recommended Rum Havana Club Anejo 7 years old.
- Havana Mad: A fantastic cocktail made with Havana club rum and rich tropical fruits.
- Krem-Pt: A soft drink made from condensed milk, syrup, egg yolk, vanilla, white rum and vodka.
Dress code for Latin parties
Perhaps for this party, each participant in the action can choose or create a unique outfit. This is especially true for girls. Would you like to appear as a hot Brazilian? Then wear:
- long skirt with ruffles and a deep slit from the hip,
- complement your outfit with a bright top with a spectacular neckline,
- and gather your hair into a puffy ponytail.
- Apply bright makeup, focusing on your eyes and lips, and cover your body with shimmering gloss.
- Brave girls can wear a real carnival costume: super-short skirts, the upper part of the costume is made in the form of a bra, embroidered with beads and sequins, and don’t forget about feathers!
- Feathers are an integral part of accessories for decorating the head; they are also used to decorate the back, making designs of a peacock tail or angel wings from multi-colored feathers.
- Of course, in both the first and second versions of a women’s costume, do not forget about breathtaking stiletto heels; choose high-heeled sandals with a platform. Shoes should be bright and eye-catching.
Men's suits are also varied
Latinos love to dress up outrageously and brightly.
- The simplest version of a men's suit can be satin black trousers and the same satin shirt, only in a bright color; the shirt should be wide-cut, perhaps even with flounces on the sleeves.
- Another option for a Latin American suit for a man is black trousers with gold stripes,
- a bright silk shirt, a black vest and, of course,
- sombrero with ethnic patterns on the brim.
- Also, instead of a vest, men can wear a bright poncho.
How to decorate a room
To create the atmosphere of a party, especially a themed one, you will need to slightly modify the room in which the celebration will take place. For a Mexican-style party, you should take into account the colors of this country - these are green, red and white, the colors of the flag. You can drape chairs, tables, and a bar counter, if there is one, with pieces of fabric. You can also hang ribbons of these colors or attach them to guests’ clothes, but more on that later.
What is Mexico without cacti? They must be present at your party and the more, the better and not necessarily alive. Cacti can be ordered from balloons, or cut out of cardboard and poked with toothpicks. You can hang chili peppers, guitars, sombreros on the walls. The dance floor can be covered with gold sparkles or confetti, thus simulating sand, of which there is plenty in Mexico.
