We measure the box in height. Cut a strip of gift paper 2–3 cm wider. We paste this strip around the box, not forgetting to tuck 1 cm under the bottom, 1-2 cm inward. Naturally, remove the lid. Cut out a circle or oval from wrapping paper slightly smaller than the bottom. Glue it to the bottom of the box so that the folded seam allowance is not visible.

With the lid it's the other way around. Cut out a slightly larger circle or oval, glue it and the seam allowance on the sides, making neat folds. We cut out a strip of paper 1 cm wider than the height of the lid. Glue it flush with the top of the lid, folding the protruding seam allowance inward.

How to transport books?

Paper is a fragile cargo that requires careful transportation. When loading boxes into a truck, you must be careful:

Place the container on a flat and clean surface;

There should be no liquids in the body that could wet the cardboard and damage the volumes;

Do not stack more than three boxes on top of each other; the weight of the paper may deform the bindings.

When transporting over long distances, create a dry microclimate in the transport, so choose cars with installed air conditioning systems, humidifiers or a heater. If this is not possible, use silica gel. Place the bags in each box; the substance will absorb excess moisture and protect the paper from dampness and mold.

The boxes must be secured inside the body to eliminate unnecessary shaking and prevent the container from moving. Hitting the machine, each other, or hard objects inside can damage the paper.

We pack a square or rectangular box

First, let's learn how to properly pack a gift with your own hands if it is in a square or rectangular box.

  • packaging paper
  • ribbons, cords for decoration
  • tape measure or centimeter
  • scissors
  • tape (preferably double-sided - ordinary tape will be too noticeable, and it remains to be seen whether it will be possible to disguise it accurately enough).
  1. Cut out a rectangle from the paper of the selected type. Its width is calculated as follows: we measure by applying a tape measure or tailor's tape, all four sides in sequence; add 2-3 centimeters to the hem. The length is determined by the formula: two heights of the box plus one of its length.

If you’ve never even heard of how to properly wrap a gift before, practice on some paper that you don’t mind. On a newspaper, for example. You will immediately see if you have guessed the dimensions, what the folds will look like, and where the tape will go.

Wrap the box in paper as tightly as possible, stretching it slightly so as not to wrinkle. Remove the protective film from the tape and glue the folded edge.

We make sure that the edges of the paper protruding from the sides of the box are the same size. Fold the remaining piece of paper on top. Press it tightly against the end of the box.

Bend, pressing, the sides of the paper rectangle.

We bend its lower part and press it tightly against the side edge of the box. We bend it back and bend it again approximately in the middle. We paste the tape and glue it to the end. We repeat the operation on the other side.

Eco-materials

How to arrange a gift according to European standards? Recently, non-traditional materials for gift wrapping have become very popular. Such modern and non-standard solutions are increasingly in demand among progressive people who keep up with the times. We suggest paying attention to sisal, decorative mesh, burlap, organza, and felt. The gift can be simply wrapped in a classic package.

However, the gift will look bright and advantageous if you put in a little effort and some effort. We recommend making bags in the French style and decorating them with ribbons or other artificial accessories. The main thing is not to overdo it and not to complicate the packaging decor. Colorful eco-friendly material will definitely give any gift a luxurious look. This concludes the main stage of presentation design. The gift has been prepared and is waiting for its owner. All that remains is to present the gift in an original way. And everything will be covered in chocolate.

An envelope for you! Scheme without tape

Surely you remember what an envelope is - on the back side of it there are four triangles combined together.
How can you wrap a gift in gift paper using the same principle?

First, you should look at the item that you are going to present: if it has the shape of a square or rectangle, then you can prepare a ruler and scissors.

How do you need to do the work to get such an unusual package?

  1. First of all, on the gift itself you need to draw two lines diagonally that will connect the opposite corners. It will be best if you do this with a pencil or chalk, in which case the lines can be easily erased later. As a result, you have formed four triangles.
  2. Next, you need to put the present on wrapping paper and draw an absolutely identical triangle on each side, but it should be reflected upward.

  3. Then the vertices of the resulting triangles are connected by a line. As a result, you should get something resembling a rhombus (if the shape of the thing is a square).
  4. At the next stage, two to three centimeters are added on both sides of the drawn figure and again outlined with lines. After this procedure, cut off the excess.
  5. Next, one of the triangles is bent onto the item that we are packing - the workpiece will be slightly wider than the sides of the gift. First you need to iron the fold line at the top and then along the sides. Fold the triangular piece that appears at the top upward.

  6. Now it’s the turn of the two side triangles. Take them, bend the sheet towards your gift and iron the fold line thoroughly. Then, from the lower end of the triangle, turn the edge diagonally outward and then bend it inward. The fold now begins exactly in the corner. All is ready! The same procedure must be done on the opposite side.

Attach double-sided tape to the finished triangle lid. Twine, stamps and sealing wax are usually used to decorate the resulting packaging. It is also worth adding the surname with initials and address of the hero of the occasion.

An updated version of the classic version

The only drawback of this wrapping method is the “raw” edge, which has to be hidden under a beautiful ribbon.

How to pack a gift so that all the cuts look neat?

You just need to slightly change the wrapping process itself.

  1. First of all, we unfold our wrapping paper, and in the middle we place a box with a gift. Next, on both sides, set aside a value that will be equal to the height and width of the box; from the top and bottom edges, this value should be equal only to the height. Next, trim off the excess.
  2. At the next stage, you need to place the part of the paper that is on the left on the gift box and secure it with a small piece of regular tape.
  3. The right half of the paper is also placed on the box, but is not secured. The fold line must be ironed well. If you turn the sheet over, you should see the following: the fold strip is clearly visible and divides the paper into two parts, unequal to each other. Next, you need to mentally divide in half the part that is larger and make pencil marks at the edges.
  4. Now we bend the corners inward from the middle of the height of the sheet to the marks that you made in pencil. Be sure to secure the corner that you receive in the end with small strips of adhesive tape and cover your gift with it.
  5. At this stage it was the turn of the side panels. We bend the top part of the wrapping paper inward, creating beautiful “ears” shaped like a triangle.
  6. Now bend the resulting triangles and secure with tape.
  7. That's all, there is very little left - we turn the edge at the remaining lower part, put it inside and secure it again with tape. On the other hand, we do everything absolutely the same.

And you can also decorate the wrapped gift with cards, ribbons and other decor.

If wrapping paper alone seems not enough for you, then it is quite acceptable to tie a beautiful ribbon on top of it or add some other decoration.

Custom size

Sometimes gifts have a non-standard shape, which makes the packaging process a little more complicated.

In this case, you can resort to the following tricks:

  1. Cut out a base from thick cardboard, the size of which should be equal to the diameter of the gift.
  2. Using the same principle, cut a strip of corrugated paper or polysilic, adding a margin of 2 cm.
  3. Make a 1 cm bend along the side edge, and glue double-sided tape on top without removing the protective layer from the top side.
  4. Secure the bottom edge of the paper at the bottom in the center of the prepared base with adhesive tape, creating decorated folds.
  5. Place the box with the gift inside and seal the edges on the side, placing the prepared fold on top.
  6. Tie the top of the wrapper with a colorful ribbon.

If the gift is small

If the gift fits in a small box, then you shouldn’t overly burden it with wrapping.

It is better to use the following packaging option:

  • Cut a square from gift paper, the length of the sides should be 2 times the height and width of the gift.
  • Place the box in the center across the paper.
  • Raise the ends of the material up, connecting them in the center.
  • Secure with thin tape and carefully straighten the edges.
