13 ideas of what a child can make with his own hands and give to dad on February 23rd.
The best gift for dad is something made by a child. All the most valuable things were invested in him - time, effort and love for his father.
Starting from the age of 7-8, children can already be trusted with serious crafts and “dangerous” tools (for example, for wood carving). Some children already know how to sew.
Under adult supervision and observing safety precautions, they will be able to make a wonderful gift for dad on February 23rd.
We have collected 13 original ideas for simple crafts that children under 11 years old can do on their own or with the help of their mother and grandmother.
Gift using wood carving or wood burning technique
Stores sell special children's kits for carving or wood burning. There are ready-made templates for beginners.
The child can depict a landscape, an animal, or use a ready-made drawing.
You need to put in a little imagination and effort and, in the end, you will get a real mini-painting that you can proudly present to your dad for the holiday.
If your son or daughter has just started working in such equipment, then make sure that they do not get hurt.
Master classes on how to make a tank
I also have a lot of ideas for tanks.
For example, let's start by making such a machine from dishwashing sponges.
Or use matchboxes with a plastic lid. I loved the idea of decorating the caterpillars with buttons.
Instructions are shown in the photo.
Tanks can be made from corrugated cardboard. It is sold in most office supply stores.
I found a wonderful applique made from nuts and various screws.
Below is a selection of ready-made crafts to inspire and interest you.
Someone came up with the idea of making a self-propelled car out of egg trays. Amazing!
The craft is made entirely from scrap materials: caps from felt-tip pens, juice, soda caps and a tin can. But how realistic!
You can make such a greeting from Legos or beads.
But this work is very painstaking.
Picture of cereals
Cereals are an excellent and very budget option for crafts. The process develops fine motor skills, and the scope for imagination is unlimited.
On a thick sheet of paper you need to draw the outlines of the future design, then coat it with glue and carefully fill in the cereal with the colors you need, being careful not to go beyond the lines.
The technique is not very complicated, but it requires attention and concentration from the child.
You can use the natural color of the cereal (brown buckwheat, yellow corn), or you can take white cereal - rice or semolina and paint it with ordinary paints.
The picture will turn out bright.
Shooting gun
You will need: thick colored paper, glue gun, ruler, scissors, tape, rubber band, pencil, pen spring.
Master Class
- Take a sheet of paper and a pencil, twist the tube diagonally from the corner, then secure it with tape and pull out the pencil.
- Twist the second piece of paper around the first tube, then separate them. The second paper tube should be slightly larger in diameter than the first so that it can be used to shoot in the future.
- Secure the second tube with tape, then cut off the edges.
- Twist 2 more paper tubes in the same way.
- Cut the tubes into pieces of this length: trunk - 2 tubes 15 cm long; handle – 7 tubes 5 cm long; trigger – 1 tube 8 cm long.
- Glue 5 cm tubes diagonally to form a handle.
- Glue the 8 cm tube on top of the handle so that the remaining 3 cm protrudes to the right. This is the trigger.
- Glue two 15cm tubes together and glue them to the top of the gun as the barrel.
- Roll two thin tubes from yellow paper.
- Bend a thin tube into a “U” shape and insert one end into the trigger and the other into the upper tube of the handle. Trim off the excess. This will be the trigger.
- Make a trigger guard from the second thin tube. To do this, place one end of the tube into the handle (into the second tube from the top) and glue the rest of the tube to the bottom of the barrel.
- Roll up the pink paper tube, flatten it and tape it around the handle as shown in the image. It is worth noting that the rear hole in the trigger must be open.
- Pull the trigger out of the top tube of the handle and insert the spring. It is worth noting that the spring should rest against the tube covering the back of the handle. Reinsert the trigger.
- Roll up a thin, thick tube of yellow paper, secure with tape and trim the edges so they are even.
- Fold the edge, put on an elastic band and secure with glue.
- Insert the tube with the rubber band into the lower tube of the gun barrel and pull the rubber band forward, hooking it between the two tubes.
- Roll paper bullets, load the gun and fire.
The paper shooting gun is ready! I recommend watching the video master class!

Figured cookies
If the child is small, you can prepare a gift for dad together. Mom will knead the dough, and the baby will cut it into shapes using special molds.
You can also trust him to decorate cookies - sprinkling with powdered sugar or chocolate chips is not at all difficult, and the child will show his imagination.
If dad has a favorite cake, this is also a great gift idea. Mom bakes cakes - her daughter coats them with cream and decorates the top with liquid chocolate, cream roses, and fruits.
It will make a delicious and beautiful gift.
Plasticine airplane for children 5-6 years old in step-by-step instructions
Plasticine is very convenient for crafts. Let's invite the kids to make fast planes out of plasticine for February 23rd. Such gifts are suitable for both very young children 2-3 years old and older ones. Step-by-step instructions will help you quickly make the components for the flying objects, and once you connect them, try with all your might to hold them together. In practice, such airplanes quickly pick up speed and fly high in children's hands.
How to make a military plane from plasticine
Give your children a special delight from modeling from such an interesting and practical material. For a military aircraft, simple plasticine will do. But it is quite hard, so you will have to first knead it in your hands for further comfortable work.
There is also soft or airy plasticine that can be used in crafts for younger children. But domestically produced plasticine makes the figures stronger and more durable. Therefore, we will make a military aircraft from it.
In order to obtain military coloring and smooth transitions at the borders of colors, you need to roll up thin flagella of blue, green and yellow. Then wrap it around the finished part, knead and roll until the desired effect is obtained.
We sculpt the fuselage, wings, propellers and cockpit separately. Afterwards we simply connect the parts together.
By analogy, you can make a fighter like this:
Or a military plane with shells
But children in kindergarten make such crafts.
You can make a plasticine applique as a gift.
Or make the fuselage from a pine cone or an Activia bottle.
If the kids really like helicopters, then offer to make such an aircraft from light plasticine as a gift for dad
And the latest model of an excellent aircraft.
How to make a tank from plasticine
Sculpting a tank from plasticine is very interesting and entertaining. And how much pride increases when the powerful Soviet T-34 tank appears in your hands. What about the guys when they can make such serious equipment themselves? Now we'll look at a few things that will make the tracks and wheels look like the real thing.
First of all, knead the plasticine well so that it becomes softer and more flexible. If you want to achieve a protective color, then we use the same technique as with the plane above. Knead light brown and dark green colors and lightly mix with the main color until we achieve a smooth transition.
First of all, we form the body of the tank. We will proceed from its size with other details so that the proportions are respected. We also immediately make the tank’s turret, slightly narrowing at the front.
Next, we roll 4 small balls, which will later take the place of the running wheels, and ten large ones.
The next step is to flatten all the balls to make wheels 0.5 millimeters thick. In order to make supporting knitting needles and screws from the side, you can either use the edge of a plasticine knife to make cuts from the center or push it with the tip, applying the knife sideways. In the photo you will see different options.
Let's make a caterpillar belt. To do this, we roll out a long strip of black plasticine and make notches at equal distances to simulate the fastening of the track parts. Now we distribute the wheels: two small ones at the edges and five large ones in the middle. Our tank must be powerful and passable! We go around them with a caterpillar belt and repeat all the same steps for the second chassis.
Next we connect it to the body. You can simply press it, but if there are doubts that the structure will withstand further pressure from hands, then insert toothpicks or matches into the body on the sides and fasten the wheels to the protruding tip.
We will make protective tank wings from thin strips to prevent dirt from getting into the tracks. And of course the gun. A simple wooden skewer is suitable for this. Cut it to the required length and coat the entire surface with plasticine. Then we install it in its place and our tank is ready for battle.
Here is another master class in pictures on how to make a tank from plasticine. We make the wheels in the same way as in the first option. Also the caterpillar belt.
We use a cast assembly with an elevation. This will be our KV series tank. His tower is high. We make protective equipment from a contrasting color.
Picture frame
Let's make a real man's frame. We will stick nuts, small bolts, screws, washers and other hardware around the perimeter.
To avoid accidentally upsetting your dad, try not to borrow “decor” from his toolbox. It's better to ask grandpa for help. He will definitely find a lot of interesting details in the pantry for your gift.
Don't forget to frame your photo!
Children's holiday crafts
Children 3 years old should have their own gift options. Children, as a rule, of this age are restless and cannot do the same thing for a long time. Therefore, making a gift should not take much time.
A card or simple craft is best for this age. Prepare everything you need in advance, cut out the parts if the child does not know how to do this yet.
Mug stand
A stand for a hot cup for dad can be made using the decoupage technique.
You will need: varnish or glue for decoupage, a ceramic or wood base, felt for the “legs,” napkins for decoupage, scissors with rounded ends, a brush for applying glue and varnish. Usually stands are 10x10 cm in size.
If you choose ceramic tiles, then before work you need to degrease them. Glue the pattern cut out from a napkin onto the prepared surface using a brush and glue.
It is best to start from the middle, because once the paper pattern gets wet, it may begin to stretch. You need to act carefully.
After gluing, we coat the entire tile with varnish two or three times and let it dry. The gift is ready!
Star with patterns
Now a capacious section about the stars.
Let's start with a very beautiful, but rather simple present.
Cut out a part from thick cardboard. Below are two star templates, choose any one.
We make a St. George ribbon from thin strips. But you can replace it with the colors of the Russian flag.
We make a tank using the quilling technique. We roll up three rolls and wrap them with a strip of paper - this is the “caterpillar” of the tank.
We prepare the remaining elements.
We assemble the tank and decorate the star.
You can stick a strip of magnet on the back side if you wish.
As promised, here are two star templates.
You may also need a star using the origami technique in your creativity. And so I’ll give you some step-by-step instructions for folding them.
Option known in the USSR.
A beauty with a through center.
This applique option is also suitable for younger children. It consists of two sheets of paper. A drawing is applied to one of them and cut out along the lines. On the second background. And both sheets are glued together.
You can also decorate the applique with letters and inscriptions.
Postcard in the form of a shirt
On this holiday, I want to say a lot of nice words to dad. And it’s best to write your wishes on an unusual postcard made by yourself. Then they will be preserved for many years.
An interesting option is a postcard in the form of a shirt with a tie.
You will need 2 types of colored cardboard, 2 buttons for the collar and glue. First we cut out a rectangle, then we make cuts on top and fold them into a collar.
Glue buttons to the edges of the collar and attach a pre-cut tie. It is made from cardboard of a different color.
Now all that remains is to write congratulations and wishes.

On this day, themed gifts would be an excellent choice. A man who went through the army will remember this period of his life all his life. Let's make a funny smiley. Everything you need can be found in a craft store.
To make it we will need flex material, a sheet magnet, scissors, eyes, and a marker. Cut out a circle, glue on a nose and eyes, draw a smile and glue the finished smiley face onto a magnetic strip.
A cheerful magnet can be used to attach a postcard to the refrigerator with congratulations to dad for the holiday.

Notebook or notepad
Dad will definitely love a creative notebook or diary made especially for the holiday. It is better to buy the base of the notebook in a store, and work on the cover yourself.
There are several design methods. You can glue thick paper over the main cover and decorate it with an applique or design. An interesting option is to cover a notebook or diary with fabric and attach clasps or a lock to it. Huge scope for imagination.
On the finished cover you can write or lay out a congratulation or wish for dad from cardboard letters.
Handmade soap
Let grandma give you shaving foam, and mom and I will make our own soap. Here, of course, the help of an adult is very important.
It’s great if mom supervises the work – when making soap, it’s important to maintain proportions.
To work, you will need a soap base, food coloring, essential oils that dad likes to smell, and molds. In special stores you can find creative forms for soap in the form of shoulder straps, tanks, and pistols.
A detailed recipe for making it can be found on the Internet.
For a child, this will be a wonderful experience in making not only a beautiful, but also a useful gift with your own hands.
What to give dad on February 23 from his school-age daughter
Most school-age girls love to make various crafts, both themed and useful.
On February 23, my daughter can give dad a wicker keychain for a mobile phone or keys.
Girls who know how to knit can knit a long wide scarf or comfortable indoor slippers for their dad on February 23rd.
And it’s impossible to ignore delicious gifts. Moreover, you can make a themed tank or plane from candies and sweets, or decorate jars of sweets in an unusual way. Dad will be simply amazed by such a surprise.
You can please your dad with homemade goodies. A girl can ask her mother or grandmother for help to prepare gingerbread cookies decorated with icing for her dad.
Or bake Dad’s delicious favorite cake. Recipes for classic cakes can be found here.
It would be nice to take part in preparing a festive table for men. Moreover, the girl can make cool, delicious sandwiches on her own.
And also a man’s favorite salad, which can be decorated with tomato stars.
Or from boiled beets.
Children's gifts are so heartwarming and cute.
When a child or teenager presents his father with a present in which a piece of his soul has been invested, it is impossible to say that it is a trinket or an unnecessary gift.
Such gifts are stored for a long time or must be used for their intended purpose.
Felt phone case
It is very easy to cut out such a case. Just place the gadget on the fabric and trace its outline.
Add a 1.5 cm seam allowance along the edge and you can cut it out.
Before sewing the parts of the cover, they need to be decorated. Sew on buttons, embroider dad’s name or monogram, decorate the case with colored felt figures.
When the decoration is finished, carefully sew the two parts together and the unusual gift for dad is ready. A case like this can be made not only for a phone. It is also suitable for keys, headphones and other small but necessary things.
Master class on making an airplane
Now we will talk throughout this section only about airplanes and helicopters. Let's start with an idea made from clothespins and popsicle sticks.
We have a lot of different round and oval toy packaging. You can use them too. And for the propeller and tail, take all those hedgehog ice cream sticks.
A helicopter was made from straws, a tennis ball and a plastic bottle. Original and unusual.
Using the same matchbox and cardboard, make an aircraft.
Ideas from a plastic bottle are simply captivating. Someone came up with the idea to use it.
Paper models can be of different configurations and volumes.
For such an application, take the template located immediately below.
You need to make cuts along the lines in the middle.
