On the first day of summer, many countries around the world celebrate one of the most important holidays - International Children's Day. This is one of the oldest international holidays: the decision to hold it was made in 1925 at the World Conference on the Welfare of Children. The Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women in Paris officially approved this holiday only in November 1949. It was first celebrated in 1950, when 51 states took part in it. Since then, International Children's Day has been celebrated every year on June 1st.
The need to celebrate this day arose precisely in the late 40s due to the consequences of the Second World War. She left many children without parents and homes, forcing them to live on the streets. This led to theft and begging, and some children simply died from hunger or various diseases.

On International Children's Day, various events are organized in different cities around the world: exhibitions of children's drawings, performances by creative groups, competitions. Also on this day, actions are held to support children who find themselves in difficult life situations. Charity events and concerts, the proceeds of which are sent to orphanages and hospitals, have become part of International Children's Day.
For example, children with special needs need support and protection. They suffer from social attacks and the inability to receive a good education. Children with cerebral palsy, autism and other diseases suffer from misunderstanding and lack of acceptance in society, despite the opportunity to study and work. Spectators will be greeted by stilt walkers, mimes, stage actors and a cheerful, noisy company of 25 clowns from all over the world. The main symbol of the holiday is a green flag with the image of the Earth and colorful children (which symbolizes different nationalities). The figures depicted on the flag reach out to each other with their hands, which should symbolize the unity of the whole world in solving problems associated with dysfunctional childhood.
On June 1, other symbols become relevant. In particular, fundraising for the treatment of seriously ill children is carried out under the symbolic image of a white flower. Another important symbolic image associated with this day is the white lily, a symbol of reproductive medicine, which annually helps thousands of children to be born.
