(Song “Take care of animals!”)
- Guys, we are starting our class hour! What touched you about this song and video? Today the topic of the class hour will be: “World Animal Day,” which is usually celebrated on October 4th.
— Why do you think such a day appeared on the calendar?
World Animal Day was proclaimed at the International Congress, which was organized and held by supporters of the movement to protect nature. This congress took place in the Italian city of Florence back in 1931. Animal Day was set for October 4, because the Catholic Church on this day honors the memory of St. Francis of Assisi, and he is considered the patron saint of animals; he died on October 4, 1226. Churches in many countries around the world hold services on October 4 or a day close to this date, dedicating them to World Animal Day.
Russians learned about this holiday relatively recently. For the first time in Russia, Animal Day was celebrated only in 2000, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare took the initiative to popularize this day in Russia.
— Guys, what do you think is the purpose of World Animal Day?
- in order to attract public attention to environmental protection issues;
- in order to increase people's activity in protecting animals.
- Tell me, children, what can people do to preserve nature and animals? More nature reserves need to be created
- Protect rare animals
- Don't cut down forests unnecessarily
- Maintain cleanliness (pick up trash in the forest, don’t light fires)
- Plant new forests
- Do not release harmful substances, etc. into the atmosphere.
Guys, now let's play with you! Now we will find out which of you knows more about animals.

- The score table can be drawn on the board.
Conditions of game 2

—
What do you guys think, from whom should domestic or wild animals be protected?
(From human cruelty to animals, from natural disasters such as fires and floods)
—
Why is it necessary to preserve the planet's fauna?
You should always treat life with reverence and care in any of its manifestations. Imagine for a moment our planet without the singing of birds, without animals, without communication with them. Imagine that there are no more dogs and cats in our homes and you can only see animals in pictures. Such thoughts do not bring joy, right? What animals can be called human helpers and friends? They save people like real heroes, showing miracles of loyalty and devotion to man. And, of course, in gratitude for the invaluable help, these noble and selfless animals were immortalized by man in monuments.
- In London on Park Lane there is a monument to the animals who died in the battles for England. The inscription on the monument reads: “They had no choice.” This monument is dedicated to all those animals who fought and died alongside British soldiers and their allies throughout time.
- There is a monument to a dolphin in Japan. It was installed by fishermen, thus thanking their waterfowl assistant named Olo. The dolphin helped find schools of fish and warned fishermen about shallow waters.
- The common sparrow was also awarded a monument. In Boston, USA, a monument to this bird was erected in gratitude for saving gardens and crops from the invasion of caterpillars.
Of course, the record holder for erecting monuments is a dog.
- In Paris - to St. Bernard Barry, who saved 40 people during snowdrifts in the Alps;
- In St. Petersburg - Pavlov’s dog, serving science;
- Monument to the dog Balt, who brought a vaccine for terminally ill children and saved his owner.
- A monument to the cosmonaut dog, a husky named Zvezdochka, was unveiled in Izhevsk.
But it also happens that monuments to animals appear in connection with the cruel actions of humans towards their devoted four-legged friends.
- Let me tell you a story.
A mongrel dog named “Boy” lived in the passage near the Mendeleevskaya metro station for more than five years, and appeared as a puppy. The dog was distinguished by charm and good-natured disposition. He was fed by stall sellers and station workers. One day, the dog caught the eye of a young girl walking along the passage with a fighting dog, which she set against the peacefully standing mongrel. The dog could not be saved.
The circumstances surrounding the dog's death outraged the entire public. Cultural figures appealed to the management of the Moscow metro with a request to give permission to install the monument. The opening of the sculpture took place in 2007. According to the authors, this is a monument not so much to a specific dog, but to all animals that have suffered from human cruelty. The figure of the dog, both in appearance and size, is similar to “Boy”. The dog lies on a granite pedestal with the inscription: “He needs to be petted.” The author of the monument, sculptor Alexander Tsigal, asked police officers and metro employees to allow them to take photographs, place children on the bronze dog and even place bags near it: “Let the Boy protect them, continuing to participate in people’s lives.”
The monument also has a name: “ Dedicated to the humane treatment of animals.”

And now I invite you to remember works that deal with animals.
Verse by E. Asadov “Red mongrel”.
The owner stroked his shaggy red back with his hand: “Farewell, brother, although I’m sorry, I won’t hide it, But still I’ll leave you.”
He threw his collar under the bench and disappeared under the echoing canopy, where a noisy human anthill poured into the express cars.
The dog did not howl even once, and only two brown eyes followed the familiar back with almost human melancholy.
The old man at the station entrance said: “What, left, poor fellow? Eh, if you were of a good breed, Otherwise, you’re just a simple mongrel...”
In the carriages, having forgotten the troubles, They joked, laughed, dozed, Here you can see about the red mongrel. They didn’t think, didn’t remember.
The owner didn’t know what was coming next, A dog running out of breath along the sleepers Behind the red flickering light.
Stumbling, he rushes again, his paws are broken on the stones into the blood, and his heart is ready to jump out from the open mouth.
The owner did not know that the strength suddenly left the body at once and, hitting its forehead on the railing, the dog flew under the bridge...
The waves carried the corpse under the snags... Old man, you don’t know nature. After all, the body may be a mongrel, But the heart is of the purest breed.
— Man often unwittingly becomes the cause of animal suffering. For example, a forest fire caused by a carelessly thrown cigarette or an unextinguished fire takes the lives of hundreds and thousands of living beings.
— Animals die very often through our fault if we do not know how to properly care for our four-legged and winged pets. Your dog or cat refuses to eat, walk, or play; her eyes are watery or there is pus in the corners of her eyes. The animal has diarrhea, vomiting or constipation. The animal lies down, reluctantly responds to the call, and limps. If your pet shows any signs of illness, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
— Many diseases of dogs and cats are the same as those of humans. A dog, for example, can get sunstroke if it is kept in the sun for a long time in the heat. There are many cases where a dog was left for a long time in a closed car parked in the sun. This caused the death of the animal. If a dog walks for a long time on a hot day wearing a muzzle, it should be spacious so that the dog can breathe with its tongue out, since it does not have sweat glands, and breathing with its tongue out serves as protection against overheating of the animal. Pets need to be fed properly, walked, and the right place to rest - not in a draft, for example. And a bird in a cage cannot be kept near the stove in the kitchen.

Stray animals. A sore point for many states and cities. There are also many stray dogs and cats in our city. Where do you guys think stray animals come from?
(We need to bring the kids to the conclusion that most stray animals appear because their owners throw them away and this is the result of human cruelty and negligence.)
You need to responsibly treat an animal that becomes a member of your family if you take it into your home.
— What ways do you know to protect homeless animals? How should their fate be decided? After all, it is now clear to the entire civilized world that killing stray animals, first of all, is cruel. Moreover, the number of stray animals cannot be regulated in this way. After all, dogs and cats will fight, like any species, for existence.
Let's guys think about what a dog and cat shelter is.
These are clean and comfortable cages for animals, which should be provided with water and food, and warmth in the winter. The cages need to be cleaned, the animals must be examined and treated, they must be vaccinated against various diseases so that there are no epidemics. Animals need to be walked. Their shelter allows you to take an animal home. A purebred dog is expensive, but you can adopt a dog or cat for free at a shelter. At the shelter, one could learn to train a dog, listen to conversations on how to care for it. If parents are against keeping animals in the house, you could come and talk to the animal at the shelter. The shelter thus benefits both animals and humans.
In our city and in many others there is an Animal Welfare Society. Community members do a lot of work to protect homeless animals and create shelter for them. There are many animal protection sites on the Internet.
What if there are still no shelters, and you come across homeless animals on the street? What should I do?
First of all, don't offend them. Don't be afraid, but also be careful. If you encounter a pack of barking, aggressive stray dogs, try to avoid it.
If you pet a homeless animal, wash your hands.
It’s good if you can figure out whether the animal is lost or has become accustomed to the street. If lost, it behaves insecurely, frightened, and seeks help from a person. If you can, help him. Write an ad or pay attention to ads about lost animals. Indicate the area where you saw the animal, signs of the dog or cat - coat color, breed if you know.
- Summing up our class hour, I would like to say that you are all great and know a lot about our smaller brothers - animals. Today you have learned a lot of new and interesting things about Animal Protection Day, about cats, and in general about animals themselves. Treat animals with care and love, and they will definitely reciprocate your feelings. Now, guys, you can come up to the board and look at the interesting collages that you brought.
Poem (read by student)
...Only to kings by birth, As in everything, preference,
We know the queen rose
lion-king, and the king-bird.
And of course it is alarming that sometimes we shamelessly do not preserve what we have, we do not spare what we regret. We are not responsible for anything, It’s as if we have only a little to live and rule on this planet. It’s not like they are masters, This is how we destroy our property, But we are proud of nature and love the Fatherland.
The world community is committed to protecting the rights of fauna representatives
Despite the fact that the problem of the destruction and extinction of animals, as well as the destruction of their natural habitat, has existed for many centuries, people began to take real actions to improve the situation only relatively recently. Moreover, activists of animal rights movements are increasingly drawing public attention to the fact that not only wild animals, but also domestic animals need human participation, since cases of cruelty to them have been increasing recently. It is no coincidence that most European countries have long recognized that pets are a full-fledged part of the family and, as a result, have exactly the same rights as the rest of its members.

An important tool for the protection of rare animals in Russia is the Red Book of the Russian Federation. It includes over 400 species of animals that need protection and are at risk of extinction. These are the polar bear, the Amur tiger, the bison and other well-known representatives of the fauna. In our country, special federal laws, which are constantly being supplemented and improved, are called upon to radically change people’s attitudes towards the environment.
