International Rural Women's Day was first celebrated in 2008.
The idea of creating a holiday arose during a women's conference held in Beijing in 1995, but only 12 years later it was officially approved. Living in a city is certainly more comfortable than living in a village, so many people dream of moving from their homes closer to “civilization.” But a city cannot survive without a village; someone must grow wheat in the fields, care for garden trees and vegetable gardens, work in poultry farms and livestock farms.
Therefore, the priority task of the state is to ensure normal living conditions in rural areas. Rural residents must have access to necessary services - medical, educational, informational, banking, etc. If life in a village is not significantly different in terms of comfort from life in the city, then many rural residents will not want to leave their homes. Many reorganizations have affected all large and small villages. Accordingly, they also affected women. In war and post-war times, for example, they took on an unbearable burden, restoring their region, their villages... It was not at all easy...
In short, the International Day of Rural Women calls on others to respect everything they have done over the years, and what they continue to do today.
How is the holiday celebrated?
There are no specific traditions in celebrating Rural Women's Day. Therefore, rural administrations and women's councils independently decide how to celebrate this important date in accordance with local conditions and customs.
As a rule, ceremonial events are dedicated to this day, where women are honored by presenting them with valuable gifts and, of course, flowers. After the ceremonial part, festive and entertaining events are organized - concerts, performances by artists, dance evenings, etc.
The holiday of rural women is also celebrated in cities. Photo exhibitions of portraits of rural women, fairs, competitions, festivals - all these events are aimed at once again reminding us that rural women make a huge contribution to the country’s economy with their work. In addition, the purpose of the events is to popularize life in the village and return poetry and attractiveness to the image of the villager.

Features of the holiday in Russia
The Russian Women's Union actively cooperates with international women's organizations. The idea of holding a holiday dedicated to rural women was actively supported in Russia. After all, in our country, more than 21 million representatives of the fair sex live in villages and villages.
Among rural women are agricultural workers, teachers, doctors, service workers, signalmen, salesmen, etc. Women can also occupy leadership positions in the countryside, heading rural settlements and agricultural associations.

A little history
Life in the countryside in Russia has never been easy. For several centuries, peasants lived under serfdom, which is a milder form of slavery. Then the country was rocked by revolutions and wars. Men went to the battlefields, all the burdens of peasant labor and village life fell on fragile women's shoulders.
Despite the fact that a significant part of the population lives in the village, rural women had their own holiday quite recently - in 1995. The idea of holding a holiday honoring village women was first voiced at the fourth women's conference, held under the auspices of the UN.
The idea received warm approval from the conference participants, after which a new holiday was founded, which is celebrated annually on October 15 .
Events for Rural Women's Day in the libraries of the Barysh district

Those who gathered for the event learned the history of the holiday, discussed the role of rural women in society, her rights and opportunities. The head of the library reviewed books describing village life and rural life. 15 people were present.
In the Kaldinskaya rural library
a book exhibition “About you, rural woman!” was organized. The librarian told those present about the works in the genre of “village prose” presented at the exhibition by writers F. Abramov, V. Rasputin, B. Mozhaev, M. Alekseev, V. Shukshin and others. The book exhibition interested not only the older generation, but also younger and middle-aged readers. 18 people were present.
