Mother's Day: how to prepare for the holiday in a couple of weeks

How to spend Mother's Day

On this day you need to do everything that your mother loves. Who knows your mother better if not you? Semitsvetik offers its own version of celebrating Mother's Day.

  • It’s better to start the holiday with a call or personal congratulations. You will find the truest words to say to your mother in your heart.
  • Be sure to give your mom a bouquet of her favorite flowers. Delicate roses, sunny gerberas or fragrant chrysanthemums in a combination of pastel shades and bright flowers will delight your mother.
  • After presenting gifts and flowers, we recommend taking a walk to the places where you walked together as a child. Or just sit together with a cup of delicious tea or aromatic coffee. Remember bright moments, laugh at your childhood antics, have a heart-to-heart talk with your mother.
  • If you give your mother tickets to the theater or a concert, the opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon or swim with dolphins, warn her about all the nuances and take her to the event yourself. In this case, it would be appropriate to keep mom company, or give her two tickets so that she can invite whoever she wants.
  • A beautiful ending to a day dedicated to mom will be dinner at a restaurant that serves her favorite cuisine. Find out in advance that this is a decent place and book a cozy table. All close relatives can attend such a celebration. Make sure that it is convenient for everyone to gather on this day. After dinner, take your mother home.

How to celebrate Mother's Day in a special way?

The closest person

Mom is the most dear and important person in everyone’s life. As a child, this truth is undeniable, and it doesn’t take much to snuggle up to your mom and tell her how wonderful she is. Growing up, we tell her unforgivably little about our love and rarely find time to just be close. But there is one day a year when we become children again and, without shyness of sincerity, are ready to shout to the whole world about our feelings. This day is the last Sunday of November - Mother's Day.

How is it customary to congratulate mothers?

Similar holidays exist all over the world, and the traditions of their celebration are generally similar. On this day, children and adults make postcards, give gifts to their mothers, and hold festive concerts. But the goal of absolutely any event for Mother’s Day is recognition of merit and worship of the one who gives life and, without sparing herself, invests in her child to the last drop. We try to congratulate our mother in an unusual and sincere way, so that she does not forget: we are grateful to her for everything she has done for us. And in this article I want to share with you my ideas for congratulating Mother’s Day, implemented and still planned.

Idea 1. Morning

Morning. Bouquet of flowers. Mom lowers her feet from the bed and sees paper trails on the floor that lead her to the door from the apartment. There is silence in the house. Family photos are hung on the walls, reflecting the happiest moments of life. An envelope with a deliberately childish inscription “MAME” is attached to the handle of the front door. The envelope is opened in the hall, because it is lighter and more convenient there. Flocks of bright leaves spill out of an envelope onto the table, and on each one there is an inscription why we love our mother. There are 100 statements in total. My brother and I composed them for almost 2 weeks. They, of course, were repeated, but mom was happy to once again receive confirmation of our love.

Idea 2. Noisy

The phone rings and mom’s voice on the phone: “Hello.” In response, my cheerful: “Mommy, look out the window!” And outside the window I am with children and balloons against the background of a huge chalk drawing on the asphalt. They drew with excitement and pleasure: the sun, birds, trees, grass, flowers, and in the center of all this is the giant figure of MOTHER, who holds the hands of small crooked aliens, in which my sons stubbornly saw the figures of children. And on top in large letters “May there always be a mother!” My mother most likely did not hear my congratulations on the phone, as the children squealed so much, waving their hands at her. The balls soared into the sky, we shouted in unison that we love her, and passers-by applauded.

Idea 3. Gift

No matter how many beautiful words you say, you still want a tangible memory to remain about the holiday. For Mother's Day, we made newspapers with funny life stories, gift albums with photographs, and even wrote a song and sang it together with enthusiasm. Believe me, any gift made with soul and with your own hands will be as dear to your mother as it is to mine. She kept the candy bouquet for almost two years, carefully and discreetly removing candies from the wrappers so as not to disturb its appearance. But this does not mean that a beautiful ring or a beauty salon certificate will please her less.

Idea 4. Dreamy

Every mother has a dream. Mine is a trip to Prague. And I already know exactly what we will give her not for her birthday or New Year, but for Mother’s Day, as soon as we reach the required amount. After all, it is so symbolic to fulfill the dream of the one who has been fulfilling ours all her life.

Idea 5. Banquet

We so rarely go out with my mother. And when we invited her to take a walk together, she happily agreed. And so our noisy group, walking through the alleys of the city, “accidentally” turned into a cozy cafe, where a separate niche with a set table awaited us. True, her grandchildren helped a lot with luring my mother to the cafe; she flatly refused to go there. In the end we had a wonderful evening. We organized an impromptu karaoke concert, tried interesting dishes, and no one was frying at the stove or sink. The holiday was a success! I wish the same for you.

Conclusion

Make your moms happy. And it’s better not only on Mother’s Day. Give them a holiday at least once a week or month. They will appreciate it. Remember that no one will ever love us the way our mothers do.

How to celebrate Mother's Day at home

An integral part of Mother's Day celebrations is a festive dinner. You can't let mom do the work herself. Most likely, mom will take the initiative anyway, but it’s up to you to organize a feast.

  • Buy everything for snacks and light salads, mom’s favorite sweets, fruits and drinks.
  • Set the table yourself and do the bulk of the preparations for the holiday.
  • It will be a pleasant surprise for mom if you invite her favorite friends. Mom will certainly appreciate how much effort and attention was paid to her holiday, and will be very touched.
  • At the end of the feast, it is better to give a gift - this will be a pleasant end to the Mother's Day celebration.

However you decide to celebrate Mother's Day, the main rule is to do everything your mother loves. In this way, you will say better than any words or gifts how much you love her.

Mother's Day: how to prepare for the holiday in a couple of weeks

In our country, Mother's Day has been celebrated on the last Sunday of November since 1998. Traditionally, the mission of the holiday is to convey to the children an understanding of how important the role of mother is in the life of each of us, and why you should always be sensitive to the most important person in your life - both in ordinary gray everyday life and in the happiest moments of life. Congratulating your mother (and at the same time your grandmother!) on this day means expressing your love, devotion and desire to be around more often, to care and help.

Try planning a party with your elementary, middle, and high school kids. Invite the most active schoolchildren to a discussion. Discuss the timing of preparation, the location of the holiday, appoint responsible children from each class and curators-teachers. Don't forget to make a list of the most active mothers who deserve to be awarded. However, on such a day you can please all mothers - so it’s best to come up with different nominations.

Advice:

think over nominations for grandmothers and guardians - what if someone’s mother cannot come to the holiday or one of the children has a single-parent family.

If you or any of the teachers and children have the time and desire, use the free Canva service to prepare invitation flyers and postcards for the party - no matter in what format it will be held. In electronic form, postcards can be sent out via instant messengers (or better yet, just post a link to the flyer in a general chat), and in paper form, they can be distributed to the children so that they can give them to their mothers. Write down the exact date, time, format, theme, rules and other nuances of the holiday.

Event in the school library

Any idea from our library selection can be turned into a themed one for Mother's Day. Conduct a library quiz, make a special book advent calendar with a selection of children's publications about family values (why not time the celebration to coincide with the New Year, since there is nothing left!), organize a book club meeting (this option is suitable for high school students).

Even more ideas

Decorate the library with paper lanterns, colored homemade garlands and flags, and hang illuminations.

Festive concert

The concert can be arranged both in person and online. It will be interesting for everyone to participate: kids, middle schoolers, and high school students. Each class will be able to prepare a creative performance: dancing, vocals, acrobatic performances - all, of course, on the theme of love for mother.

A week or a few days before the concert itself, hold a rehearsal in which all the guys will participate. Choose the format of presentations - face-to-face or online - depending on the epidemiological situation in the school and city. Don’t forget - every creative team must have a name.

Video congratulations

Each class can record their performance - and it can be anything - on video. Then you just have to glue all the videos together and you’ll get a big movie postcard!

Photo gallery

Organizing exhibitions of photographs from family archives is a great holiday tradition. This idea is very popular in the corporate culture of many companies. And the school holiday with it will definitely sparkle with bright colors - the children’s kind and happy memories will awaken the most tender feelings! The task is simple: let everyone bring to school the happiest photo (or several), in which the student will be with his mother or with his entire family.

Setting up an exhibition is simple, but it is important to follow a few rules. Firstly, it will be better if the guys bring scanned photographs - so as not to spoil the original photographs, and secondly, it is important to sign each photograph according to the general template:

  • Last name, first name of student, class
  • Description of the photo
  • Year of the photo

The gallery can stand until the next holiday or at least one or two weeks.

Literary club meeting

Another idea for a themed intellectual party is to organize a celebration at a literary club. Haven't you done this kind of practice yet at your school? In vain! We invite you to look at our selection for ideas, and at the same time gather the first listeners and participants for the festive meeting. The theme of the books is family, about the importance of parents in a child’s life. There can be several formats and internal subtopics - it all depends on the age of the children and literary preferences.

Class hour

The good old format, which can be diversified with all the previous ones - arrange, for example, a festive concert, or hold an event in the format of a conversation before opening a photo exhibition. Everything is simple here: tell the children about the role of mother in the life of every person, explain why they need to please loved ones more often. And sometimes it’s not to make you happy, but just to be there and not make you sad. In a word, always be open, ready to help and strive to do more good deeds!
