A businessman is the same specialty as a doctor and a teacher. Representatives of this profession have their own professional holiday. Entrepreneur's Day is a very young holiday that appeared a little over 10 years ago.
Holiday traditions
On this day, entrepreneurs, their subordinates, friends, relatives and loved ones gather around the tables. The heroes of the occasion accept congratulations from colleagues and employees, toasts are made, ending with the clink of glasses. Wishes for health and success in difficult activities are pronounced.
Television and radio stations broadcast programs dedicated to finance and the private sector. The difficulties and success stories of their founders and leaders are described. Public organizations hold exhibitions. Conferences on industry issues and seminars on starting your own business are organized.
Russian Entrepreneurship Day 2022 is marked by speeches by top officials of the Russian Federation. In their speeches they mention the event and emphasize the importance of business for the state’s economy.
For some businessmen, this holiday does not have a solemn connotation. Some view the event as a manifestation of hypocrisy on the part of the Russian government. Critics of the date point out that it is extremely difficult to operate profitably. Private entities face enormous pressure from corruption and excessive regulation by regulatory authorities. The authorities are often accused of creating a monopoly position for individual firms in many sectors of the market and being close to them.
When is Entrepreneur's Day in 2022?
The holiday, like most professional events, has a fixed date and does not move to a different date every year. The event also does not depend on the day of the week, and is celebrated regularly on May 26, and the year 2022 will be no exception. At the end of spring, all businessmen and those directly related to private activities should be congratulated. Although entrepreneurs have their own day with state status, this does not make it an official day off.
In 2022, Entrepreneur's Day in Russia falls on Thursday, May 26.
Since this will be a weekday, nothing should change in the usual working rhythm of many Russian businessmen. But in your busy work schedule you need to find time to go to entertainment events. In the evening, entrepreneurs will most likely prefer to have a feast with family and friends.
The choice of a holiday date is not accidental and spontaneous, because it was on May 26 that the official entrepreneurial era began in our state. In the USSR in 1968, the Law “On Cooperation” was signed, which became the impetus for a new economic direction and development.

Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the Moscow economy
Today, hundreds of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses operate in the capital - this is about 13 percent of all small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia. Every third city resident is employed in this area—more than 3.5 million people, including individual entrepreneurs.
“After all, 800 thousand entrepreneurs in Moscow are strength!” - noted Sergei Sobyanin.
Creating infrastructure for business is one of the key areas of development of the capital. According to him, today the city boasts a surplus of both retail space and offices.
“Even 10 years ago, Moscow was five to six times smaller than European cities in terms of the number of multifunctional premises for retail, restaurant business, and area. Today we have more of these areas, we have made a breakthrough, you feel it yourself. The areas have become qualitatively different, there are much more offers on the market - this means a direct impact on both rent and price,” added Sergei Sobyanin.
At the end of last year, the contribution of small and medium-sized businesses to the capital’s budget revenues exceeded 24 percent and amounted to 560 billion rubles. In addition, in 2020, for the second year in a row, Moscow became a leader in the National Rating of the Investment Climate in the Subjects of the Russian Federation.
And this despite the restrictions introduced last spring, which, according to Sergei Sobyanin, primarily hit business. “Large machine-building enterprises, energy companies - they will survive these difficulties. But the loss of almost half of all tourists in a year, and mostly foreigners, has become a very serious problem. And the biggest blow fell on the service sector: trade, catering, hotels, tourism business,” he said.
In the World Bank's Doing Business ranking, Russia has moved from 120th place, which it occupied in 2012, to 28th. This figure is 70 percent dependent on Moscow.
Also, at the end of last year, the capital entered the top 25 global cities of the future , attractive to foreign investors. It ranked second among the world's largest cities in terms of foreign investment promotion strategies. This rating was compiled by the analytical division of the Financial Times - fDi Intelligence.
Moscow also entered the top 10 largest cities in the world in terms of such indicators as a favorable business climate, developed infrastructure, a comfortable level of costs for doing business and human capital.

Story
Entrepreneurship Day is a holiday that arose quite recently. Therefore, it is too early to talk about any history of its implementation. The right of citizens to engage in entrepreneurial activity was approved at the legislative level only in 1986, and this area began to actively develop after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Before this, running any business by a private individual was considered a crime and was punishable by the state. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, a lot changed in the country, many ideas and long-established stereotypes were destroyed. In 1991, a law was approved allowing businesses to be run individually or with hired labor. Entrepreneurship has become a respected and profitable business. In 2007, President V.V. Putin signed a decree that officially introduced a professional holiday dedicated to entrepreneurs.
