The Bright Resurrection of Christ is a family holiday and it is customary to celebrate it in the family circle, together with all household members. Easter is also a reason to have a picnic in nature. And if for adults this is a reason to cook porridge over a fire, chat, and breathe fresh air, then children prefer active leisure, so it’s worth thinking in advance about what Easter games you can organize for children.
And to make this task easier for parents, we will give several examples of children's Easter fun - both traditional and new, original. Almost all of the competitions and games described below require a minimum of props, which means they are simple to prepare. And, to put it mildly, dragging a lot of things into the forest or to the river is not very convenient. But there are also those that are easier to organize at home - the choice is yours.
Fight with paints
Everyone knows this fun and it’s hard to imagine Easter without it. The point of the game is to hit your opponent's egg with your egg so that yours remains intact, but the opponent's testicle cracks.
But you can diversify this game somewhat by, for example, assigning small prizes to the winners - then the kids will be more interested in the process itself and they will be interested in winning.
You can compete in such a battle either alone or in a group. For the company, they choose a driver who beats the eggs of other participants in turn until his testicle is broken on both sides, after which the driver becomes the one on whose testicle the previous driver broke his own. This continues until the eggs of all participants are broken, and the owner of the last intact Easter symbol receives a prize.
Egg games for girls
"Heaps"
This game is played mainly on the street. One of the girls turns away, and the other buries the egg in the hole, but makes two piles, one of which should confuse her rival. If the second girl guesses which pile the egg is under, she takes it for herself. If she doesn't guess right, she now hides the egg. If you play this game at home, then it’s good to hide the “dye” under a mug.
"Egg Breaking"
A group of girls of 5-7 people chooses a “slaughterer” and gives her one testicle, which will be the “slaughterer”. The girl takes it in her fist, “nose” or “heel” up, and goes around all the players with it in turn. Whose testicle is broken, the “slaughterer” takes it for herself. It must be said that all girls must hold their testicles according to the rules - in a fist and with the side up, which at this moment is with the driver.
Egg games for boys
“Rink”
This is one of the variations of the game of rolling an egg down a gutter. All participants freely lay out their “colors” at a distance of 25-30 centimeters from the slide. One of the boys places his testicle at the top of the chute and rolls it down. The “pysanka” it touches becomes the property of the “katala” and he has the right to one more move. If the boy is unlucky, he gives way to another player.
"Put it on your butt"
This is a variation of egg rolling, where the egg needs to be turned so that it stands upright. This is called “getting on your butt.” The whole secret is in the position of the hand and in the way the egg is launched during torsion.
Game of Kono
Small holes called “maidans” are dug in the ground in a semicircle and eggs called “pysanka” are placed in them. Participants in the game take turns trying to knock the eggs out of the holes with their testicle (small ball), which they roll down a slide. If you knock it out, it’s yours, if not, you leave yours on the Maidan.
This, of course, is not all Easter children's games. You can come up with others. The main thing is for it to be fun, and for the children to remember what particular holiday was the reason for the fun.
Easter coloring pages
Gurneys
Another traditional fun. It will require a small gutter, which was previously made of wood, but in modern conditions it can be built from a piece of cardboard.
And the competition is held like this: small souvenirs, sweets, and toys are laid out on a flat surface. A trough is installed at a short distance, and the children take turns rolling their eggs along it. Whichever prize the egg catches, the child takes for himself.
Another variation of this fun is for children to roll eggs not for accuracy, as in the previous version, but for distance - whose egg rolled further wins.
Fight, don't be afraid
Guests are divided into pairs. The host asks riddles to each pair, and whoever guesses first gets the right to be the first to beat the egg. Riddles can be very different, depending on the age and circle of guests, for example: the sun is shining brightly and birds are singing around, everyone has red ... (testicles) on the table today; painstaking work before the holiday in the oven to bake delicious and rich miracles - ... (Easter cakes); Everything in the house is clean, but my soul is joyful, like in a fairy tale, because everyone is prepared for... (Easter) and so on. Then, in pairs, the participant who first guessed the riddle beats his partner’s egg. Whoever's egg remains intact has the right to make a wish, which the guest grants, with a broken egg.
Easter Quiz
In addition to active competitions, it will be useful for children to compete in intellectual fun. Moreover, such a quiz will help them learn the history of Easter in a playful way.
For the quiz, you should prepare a list of questions in advance, as well as many small pleasant prizes. The prizes can be the paints themselves, as well as small cakes in the shape of Easter cakes, other sweets, small books, calendars, keychains and other little things.
And here is the list of questions for the quiz with answers:
- How do you greet each other on Easter? (Christ is risen!)
- How is it customary to respond to such a greeting? (Truly risen!)
- On what day after his death was Jesus resurrected? (on the third)
- Which of the disciples betrayed Christ? (Judas)
- What is the name of the mountain on which the Son of God was crucified? (Calvary)
- What does the Easter Easter symbol mean? (Body of Christ)
- What other symbols of the Resurrection of Christ are there? (eggs, cross, fire, rabbit, wreath and others)
- Who met the women in the cave who came on the third day after death to anoint Jesus’ body with perfume? (angel)
- What is customary to do on Maundy Thursday? (wash, clean the house)
- On what day of the week is Easter celebrated? (on Sunday).
Treasure Hunt
You can play this children's Easter game both at home and in the forest or near a river. We hide eggs or toy bunnies in the area in advance - whoever finds the most is the winner.
The game can also be organized in the form of a mini-quest, drawing up a search plan and at each stage asking a riddle or giving some kind of task.
Another option is to unwind a ball of thread on the way to the “treasure”. It is better if the threads are thick and knitting so that they are less tangled. The child, gradually winding the thread into a ball, reaches the hidden egg or rabbit.
Easter coloring pages
You need to prepare for this entertainment in advance by printing out coloring pages. Here are a few templates for Easter coloring pages (save to your computer and print):
You will also need to take pencils or markers with you. Each child is given a coloring book, and his task is to color it within the allotted time. The winner is determined by general voting. It is still better to organize such fun at home, although it is quite possible to carry it out in nature if you have a level table.
Easter relay
When organizing Easter competitions for children, do not forget about such popular entertainment as the relay race. There can be a lot of options for the Easter relay race, the main thing is that it includes eggs, Easter cakes, rabbits and other items associated with this bright day.
Here are some ways to run the Easter relay:
First , the participant is given a tablespoon containing paint. His task is to carry the spoon from start to finish and back without dropping the egg. If the valuable cargo still falls, the participant returns to the starting line and starts over.
The second is for children to roll an egg using their hand or spoon to the finish line and back.
Third - near the finish line we place a plate with chopped Easter cake. The child runs to the finish line and eats one piece. Here it is worth clarifying that the pieces should be small, and place a container of water or compote near the plate so that you can wash it down. Also, before the start, we instruct children not to run until they have chewed, otherwise they may choke.
Fourth - kids jump on one leg with an egg in a small basket or bowl. The task is to jump the distance without losing the load.
You can come up with a lot of similar relay races, based on the availability of the necessary props, as well as the age of the participants - easier for kids, more difficult for schoolchildren.
A breath of sunshine
Easter is a bright holiday on which you need to forget everything bad and enjoy the sunshine, life, and surrounding beauty. Each participant receives the same orange, knife and deep plate. At the command “start,” participants cut their orange in half and squeeze orange juice into their plate, symbolizing sunlight. Once all the guests have squeezed out the juice, the winner of the first round is determined who has the most juice. Then the second round begins - each participant must drink his juice without using his hands or any other objects (like a cat at her bowl). Whoever drinks the “sunshine” first will win the second prize.
Let's color the egg together
Props: a paper egg template, the size of a regular plate, and pencils. In the absence of a template, it is quite possible to use a disposable cardboard plate, just draw on the reverse, non-laminated side. The first participant paints the top of the “pysanka” and bends it so that what is painted is not visible. Then he passes the template to the next one, who also paints the strip and folds it. So we pass the template around until it is completely colored.
Advice - take several templates at once, depending on the number of participants. Each participant begins to color his own template, and then the children exchange templates with each other and continue to color them. At the end of the process, we unfold the templates and vote for the best Easter egg. But since the work is joint, we declare all the kids winners.
Interesting story or song
Each of the guests takes turns writing on a common sheet 3 words that he associates with today, for example, holiday, joy, eggs, and so on. Then the presenter announces that it is the turn to write a story or sing a song, that is, each of the guests, only in reverse order from the beginning of the sheet (from the first words), must make up sentences from which the Easter story will be built. At the request of the guests, you can make up not a story, but sing a song, whoever is good at what, in general.
Mini golf
You will need several wooden Easter eggs and tablespoons. We dig holes in the ground, and the players' task will be to get the egg into these holes, pushing it with a tablespoon.
Why wooden eggs? Because it’s somehow inappropriate to roll a holiday symbol on the ground, and wooden Easter eggs are easier to direct towards the goal, it’s easier to give them the desired trajectory. For kids we organize a simplified version - we place the hole close, make it large, and for schoolchildren and teenagers we complicate the competition by digging a smaller hole and moving the starting line further away.
These are just a few options that can be used to entertain the kids on this bright day. Perhaps, using these ideas, you will come up with your own, no less exciting Easter game.
