Quite often, the theme for a party or any other event becomes a color scheme or even a specific color. The palette chosen by the organizers is supported in the hall design, decor, and sometimes in the dress code.

Today, to help event managers, we have collected interesting ideas for creating events and reviewed the most beautiful events of recent years, decorated in a stylish and timeless white color.

Joffrey Ballet Spring Ball in 2010

The Joffrey Ballet's 2010 Spring Ball was all white. An interesting decorative solution by the designers of the HMR Designs studio was the division of space between the cocktail and dining areas of the hall using abstract sculptures and fabric structures.

Scripts for children

If there will be adults with children at your event or you are simply organizing a party for children, make sure that the little ones have fun. Namely: put on the cartoons “Mole and Panda”. In general, it is ideal to decorate a party in the style of the cartoon “Mole and Panda,” since the Panda is all black and white and can become the main character of the evening, whom people will discuss, want to play and have fun. To entertain the children, you can add computer games or games on tablets. Try playing The Sims 4 or another version of this game together.

ELLE magazine party in 2009

The dining area for one of ELLE magazine's 2009 events at the Four Seasons in Hollywood was decorated with crisp white furniture, tablecloths and glassware. The only splashes of color came in the form of red floral arrangements in the centerpieces of the tables.

Party Invitations

Invitations are an important element of the holiday. The original option is an invitation with a photo. You can post a photo of yourself, a photo of a invited friend, or a photo of a star from that era. Invitation cards can be ordered at a printing house, where text will be printed in white paint on black cardboard, which will be simple and elegant. Or you can do it yourself by taking black cardboard and a silver gel pen. It is not necessary to make invitations on a black background. White will look no less elegant. Take a white piece of cardboard and black silk ribbon (or patterned). Write the text of the invitation in beautiful handwriting with monograms and decorate it all with a bow. If you are having a funny party, then the invitations can be in the shape of a zebra or decorated with polka dots. Don't forget to include your phone number and address, and make a note that black and white is the dress code.

Music

The ideal musical accompaniment would be jazz . Twist and foreign rock and roll are also suitable. The music should be light, relaxed, but at the same time fun and captivating.

Why not throw a gangster-themed party?

Menu

This is where things get a little more complicated, but it's not all that complicated. If you want to serve only snacks , then sandwiches decorated with black olives or black caviar, tartlets with white cheese (brynza) are quite suitable.
Sweets : candies in appropriate color wrapping, cakes and cookies in black and white glaze, rolls, waffles and the like. Chocolate fondue can be served as an exotic dish. In which guests can dip cookies, marshmallows, and coconut.

If you want to serve hot , it can be white fish, with white sauce, or also decorated with black caviar. Or white meat, such as chicken with gravy.

If you are having a non-alcoholic party, then you can choose dark and white hot chocolate.

An alcoholic party option might consider an olive martini or golden champagne in neat glasses. The table can be decorated with contrasting greenery.

A composition of fresh white flowers in the center of the table will also look great.

rolls and sushi as party treats - they are also designed in dark white.

All reviews about the movie The Party

"The party was a success. Instead of toasts and clinking glasses, there is a scandal and broken glass. The action is intriguing in its development, taking place in the confined space of one apartment. This is less a film than a theatrical production, successfully rendered in monochrome so that nothing distracts from the characters and their multi-layered witty dialogues. The film is billed as a comedy. However, this is less humor than sharp satire, but you don’t need to be aware of English political intrigue to grasp its meaning. The main character is Janet, brilliantly played by Kristin Scott Thomas. A politician, feminist and career woman gathers close friends to celebrate her next success. The guests gather slowly, showing themselves in all their glory. Janet's friend is the slender and witty April (Patricia Clarkson), a razor woman who responds to any remark accurately and harshly. The director's projection is captured - April always enters the action with an assessment of what is happening. With her is her husband, the soft and meek German Gottfried (Bruno Ganz), who speaks in platitudes. Specialist in Eastern practices. A pillow that takes blows during the action. Lesbians Martha and Ginny (Cherry Jones and Emily Mortimer) struggle to be the perfect couple. Into all this complacency bursts financier Tom (Cillian Murphy), the husband of Janet's deputy Mary Ann. Unlike the others, he is excited and clearly wants to disrupt the holiday. But he pretends to be calm with all his might. But it all starts with the main character’s husband, Professor Beale (Timothy Spall). Having been in the shadow of his successful wife all his life, he had no intention of standing out at the holiday. However, it was Bill, who was quietly getting drunk when the guests arrived, who suddenly becomes the center of events. And instead of a festive feast, the guests are prepared for a feast of revelations, which, as usual, are made inappropriately and at the wrong time. A drama ensues, but the laughter in the audience continues to increase. Director Sally Potter brilliantly finds humor in the seemingly tragic, mixing a high-grade cocktail of irony, self-irony and cynicism. Willingly drinking this mixture, the viewer watches the rapid tearing off of masks and the exposure of hypocrisy. The plot moves are unpredictable, the action, which slowly accelerates in the first part, rapidly accelerates towards the end. Going nowhere. Fortunately, satire remains satire without degenerating into moralizing. Everyone will draw their own conclusions; it is a rare case when the director leaves the viewer freedom of choice. It is especially worth noting that the film was shot by the famous Russian cameraman Alexei Rodionov; in his performance, the black and white style of the film adds expressiveness to the story, making it rich in contrasts. What the locations lack in variety, they make up for with inventive camera angles and deft camera movements. “The Party” lasts only 71 minutes, which is becoming a rarity in these endlessly lengthening film narratives. Just like a movie that doesn’t stuff you with a variety of attractions, but speaks with a cheerful smile, without denouncing anyone, that life is valuable in truth and sincerity.

The designers of the Nikki Beach hotel brand organized such a relaxation area for VIP guests at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009. Truman Capote's Black and White Ball

Against the backdrop of general hysteria, I want to read more creative and entertaining posts on Gossip. I want to share with you the story of one of the noisiest and most glamorous parties of the 20th century. Sometimes one night of celebration can become the party of the century. And it's not just about the guest list, decorations or menu. Truman Capote planned to bring all of secular New York to its knees. Not getting to his ball meant oblivion. After the stunning success of the novel In Cold Blood, which brought the writer fame and profit of $2 million, Capote decided to throw the biggest party. It was 1966, the place was the famous Plaza Hotel.

Truman bought a notebook and personally wrote down the names of all those invited. The hotel lobby can accommodate 540 people - this became the final figure for the writer in choosing guests. He would later say that “this is how I made 540 friends and 15,000 enemies.” By the way, he did not invite President Harry Truman, because he believed that “Truman should be alone at the party,” but at the same time he invited his daughter and the daughter of President Roosevelt, crossing out Winston Churchill. He rewrote this list at least twenty times. Before the ball, he organized test parties - dinners to which he invited unreliable guests to decide whether they were suitable for his event.

(Actress and model Candice Bergen) The evening, for which Capote had been preparing for a whole year, he dedicated to Katerina Graham, the most influential woman in America at that time. She was friends with John and Jackie Kennedy, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Lyndon Johnson and Robert McNamara. She owned a print empire, including The Washington Post and Newsweek. She was the country's media mistress, and, of course, Truman could not pass by. “There was some crazy excitement around this party. And yet there was no more or less reasonable explanation for all this,” Katerina Graham told Vanity Fair in 1996.

(Truman Capote and Katerina Graham) The theme of the ball was the famous gavotte scene from the film “My Fair Lady,” which was costumed by dandy and socialite Cecil Beaton. To match the theme, Capote asked the ladies to come in a black or white dress, and specified classic black tie for his companions. And everyone, without exception, had to wear masks. After the invitations were sent out, the accessory was pulled off the shelves at Bergdorf Goodman. Then the department store's atelier opened a list for custom tailoring - in-house hatter Adolfo Halston worked day and night for the sake of the social life of New York. Truman bought his mask at FAO Schwarz for 79 cents. The writer spent $16,000 to organize the event.

(Truman Capote)

(Henry Fonda and Shirley Mae Adams) Among the guests were Henry Fonda with his wife Shirley Mae Adams, Lee Radziwill - Jacqueline Kennedy's sister, editor-in-chief of French Vogue Francoise de Langlade with her husband Oscar de la Renta, Henry Ford II, Andy Warhol, Sargent Shriver - American politician, founder of the Peace Corps - and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

(Frank Sinatra and his wife Mia Farrow)

(Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta with his future wife, editor-in-chief of French Vogue Françoise de Langladie) Many guests asked if they could bring one more person with them. Capote was relentless - only husband or wife. Even Andy Warhol, who never appeared in public without an entourage, was forced to comply. By the way, only Warhol was given a discount: the artist appeared at the celebration without a mask.

Only television producer Mark Goodson turned out to be principled. He will call an emergency meeting of his directors and inform them that he actually has an invitation to the “Black and White Dance” (on the invitations there was the word Dance instead of Ball), but he will not go there of his own free will. The directors will breathe a sigh of relief - they were sure that Goodson had called them to fire someone. There were also those who tried to buy themselves access to the ball. According to Capote, he was approached by a representative of Charles Revson, owner of the Revlon company, with an offer to cover the costs of the ball in exchange for an invitation. Capote refused, explaining that he did not know Mr. Revson personally, and therefore could not invite him to his party.

But even among all the abundance of beauty and luxury, some managed to stand out with the originality of their masks. Interior designer Bill Baldwin carried the golden head of a unicorn, writer Isabella Eberstadt carried the intricately intertwined necks of black and white swans, and the creator of The Addams Family, illustrator Charles Addams, wore an executioner mask. But the future supermodel, 16-year-old Penelope Tree, received the most attention. Her outfit, which consisted of transparent tight trousers and a dress with more cutouts than fabric, literally made the nanny who accompanied her to the ball cry. Cecil Beaton and Richard Avedon, who danced with her that evening, immediately offered the girl a photo shoot. In a year she will be no less famous than Twiggy.

But, despite all the pathos of the event, the ball ended like an ordinary party. One of the main guests, Frank Sinatra, said at 2:45 that it was time to change places and headed to the after-party at his favorite bar, Jilly's. After this, the rest of the guests began to disperse. By the beginning of the fourth morning the ball was almost over. When Capote finally touched his head to the pillow, the image of “a galaxy of black and white masked guests having the best time of their lives in the most beautiful hall in the city” flashed through his mind.

“The Black and White Ball received more media attention than The Beatles did in 1964 when they came to film The Ed Sullivan Show and stayed at the Plaza,” hotel historian and VIP manager Curt Gathje commented on the ball's excitement.

Celebration dinner at the National Ballet of Canada in 2009

For the National Ballet of Canada's White Hot gala in 2009, they placed cone-shaped plexiglass lamps and white mannequin heads on the dining tables. In the dining area itself there were huge pedestals on which stood girls dressed in white suits and wigs.

Scenario of the Black and White Party

When choosing a theme for a holiday, you want, first of all, to surprise your guests and create a cozy atmosphere. A great option is a black and white party. It will create the feeling of the last century, when people still watched black and white films, when color contrasts were not very popular, and people’s emotions and feelings, their sincere smiles and laughter, tears and sadness came to the fore. These are the times of Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Audrey Hepburn, when their images shone in black and white films and the public admired them. You may want to take note of this.

Party decoration

There are only two colors in this range: black and white, but you can create many style options from them. First, let's talk about the decorations. The room should be white or black. Black in this case will not look gloomy, since it can be interrupted by white curtains and furniture.
But if there is no suitable interior, then there is no need to make urgent repairs. You can order a banquet hall or arrange an open air (open-air party), rent another room, for example, a children's camp, office, ship, club. The decor can be any and varied. The simplest would be a large and fluffy white curtain. A cheap option for party decoration is black and white balloons , ribbons and crepe paper. You can place balls and ribbons both on the ceiling and on the walls. If your furniture does not match, you can throw fabric over it, which will also preserve the upholstery after the holiday. Details will help you add black and white contrast: lamps, candlesticks, dishes, vases, flowers, and, finally, dishes and desserts. Some details may be silver, this will dilute your range of black and white colors. You can make hand made decorations and arrange or hang them. The silver starry sky on black fabric will look interesting.

As for the details, decorations and small details of the interior, this is where your imagination can run wild. But we will help you a little. Black vase with white flowers (roses, callas, chrysanthemums, lilies, tulips, carnations). You can display multiple flowers by placing them in a clear vase with silica gel beads (which expand in water). You can make a lush bouquet, for example, of carnations, low flowers, about 15 cm, and place it in a low vase, like a glass. Some buds, placed in water, in a low black and white vase, will look original standing on the table. Napkins with black and white print. the original folded ones will come in handy. Candles in glasses, matching colors, mirrors, paintings. Black and white confetti in small bags will turn out to be a fun fireworks display at the end of the holiday. As a "decoration" you can run an old black and white film on the projector. The picture should be cheerful, so as not to depress guests and acquaintances, so that guests are not distracted when they see the picture for the first time.
