Introduction. New Year means delicious food, favorite movies, meeting with beloved friends and relatives whom you have not seen for a long time. This is the smell of tangerines and pine needles, the shine of glass toys on the Christmas tree, disputes over who will decorate this Christmas tree. This is an excited mother trying to prepare a hundred dishes 3 hours before the guests arrive, spring cleaning and searching for that same sausage or peas half an hour before midnight. These are gifts, sparklers, tears of joy and the clink of glasses. And even if you want to escape from the guests, put on pajamas and turn on your favorite movie while eating delicious Olivier salad and salad with crab sticks, today we offer you to plunge into the real magic of the winter holidays and celebrate the New Year in a completely new way.

These days there are an unimaginable number of opportunities to organize an unusual holiday for yourself and your guests in a good and interesting way. It could be anything: exotic dishes prepared according to newfangled recipes, New Year's quests, games, unusual competitions, trips to other countries and much more. But for most people, New Year is a cozy and family holiday, when you just want to sit on the couch and not go anywhere. Well, even for us lazy people, there are plenty of ways to diversify the atmosphere and come up with interesting competitions and games. I’m not suggesting competing in the best home decoration (although one Austrian woman created a real winter fairy tale in her yard, decorating her home with 5 hundred lights) or who can jump further into a snowdrift (no, no, don’t even think about it). But I have a few ideas in store that will fit perfectly into the overall atmosphere and diversify the fun.

So, board games, plates with forks and glasses of juice aside - we begin!

Organize an unforgettable New Year's quest for your friends and family. If you don’t know how to entertain guests or your family, then the best way is to conduct a home quest, because a quest is an amazing entertainment that combines games, competitions, and even original gift-giving. Organizing such a quest is easy and simple. What needs to be done? 1. Prepare gifts or small New Year's surprises. 2. Prepare cards with fun New Year's logical tasks and puzzles, the solution of which will lead the participants to a secret cache where the next task will be. And so on until the participants find the main cache with gifts. 3. Place the task cards you have prepared in secret hiding places (for example, a TV, refrigerator, carpet, Christmas tree, etc.) If you like the idea of a holiday quest and you don’t want to waste time coming up with fun New Year’s tasks on your own, then use our collection of New Year's quests. competition “Pleasant little things (fortune cookies)”

New Year means saying goodbye to everything (or almost everything) that is old and looking forward to better things in the future. So why don't your guests check it out right now?

The ideal option is to prepare miniature fortune sheets. These could be your wishes, quotes from books and films, funny jokes or some fun tasks. You can hide them by preparing special cookies or in inflatable balloons. If you put some funny tasks in the cookies, then by completing such tasks each of your guests can, for example: - crow; - jump on one leg 30 times; - reach your upper lip to your nose; - kiss the neighbor on the right; - etc. - what do you have enough imagination for?

"Letter to Santa" competition

As children, many of us looked forward to the onset of the first cold weather so that we could quickly write a letter to our grandfather who lived at the North Pole, or to the one who appeared at every matinee and at school. Santa and Grandfather Frost tried their best, but they were old, so they often confused the puppy with a toy robot, and the Barbie house with a Rubik's cube. We were upset, but we believed that next year the wizard would definitely fulfill all the requests - until we saw Santa Claus's beard in my dad's closet. But even after grandpa’s exposure, we still continue to believe in miracles from time to time. So why not add a touch of magic to the upcoming holiday? As a competition, invite guests to write a short letter to Santa. This could be either a wish or a funny request to an old man. You can even scold him for the gifts that he never brought. Then read the letters one by one. Reward the author of the best, according to the majority, with a small symbolic gift from Santa (a magnet in the shape of Santa Claus or a Christmas tree, a small Christmas tree toy, or just a sweet, tasty tangerine).

competition "Best taster"

Sometimes it seems that the New Year celebration is a tasting festival. However, you can make everything much more interesting. If your culinary talents are at play, try holding such a competition. Try to choose the most unusual variations of products, exotic fruits, and so on. Moreover, in the winter season such original fruits will go out with a bang. One by one, blindfold the contestants and offer to try some of the positions you have prepared. The one who names the most correct answers will win.

Contents of the kit

  • instructions for the leader on preparing and conducting the quest (pdf file, 2 pages)
  • postcard to start the game (jpg file)
  • assignments (pdf file, 10 pages)
  • answers (pdf file, 10 pages)
  • two ready-made versions of the decoder and two layouts of tasks - for conducting a quest indoors and in the courtyard of a private house (pdf and doc files with the ability to edit the text in Microsoft Word)

The kit is offered in electronic form - you need to print everything you need yourself on a color printer (the postcard and tasks look great on regular office paper).

competition "Musical crocodile"

This game is kind of a classic. But sometimes you can get tired of constant pantomimes showing a rabbit or a harmful boss. How about playing an unusual, more melodic variation? Before the celebration, find and download as many popular songs as possible - preferably New Year's songs. Divide the guests into two or three teams and choose captains. One by one, call them over, put on your headphones, and let them listen to part of the song. The captain must show this composition using gestures. The team that guesses the most songs wins.

Set design

All quest materials are beautifully and efficiently designed in a New Year's style. A special postcard with the first task inserted into the core will help you start the game.

Registration of assignments

Thanks to a special decoder, hints and a prize for completing the quest can be hidden in any convenient place by editing, if necessary, just one page in the template.

competition "A little handicraft"

But it’s not true that only children love various crafts - otherwise how can you explain the children’s ideal work for the art of labor and the expectation of appreciation for their efforts? We, adults, know how and can. And why not show off your talents right on New Year's Eve? Invite your guests to make snowflakes, which you can then decorate the whole house with. If you are an expert in making crafts, you can demonstrate your skills and help the competitors. But even if needlework is not your thing, it doesn’t matter. Cutting out snowflakes with your friends will be even more fun! And, of course, there is a small prize for the best one.

For whom and for what occasion

The table quest is designed for adults and children over 13 years old. The tasks are easy and of medium difficulty. Some you'll have to think about carefully.

The recommended number of participants is from 1 to 8 people.

Preparation time is no more than an hour. The passage takes on average 40-80 minutes.

By solving puzzles, participants will be able to find out the testimony of each resident. Gradually, a picture of the crime will emerge, like a puzzle. In the end, players will need to figure out who the criminal is who is planning to ruin the fun New Year holiday.

It's a table game - you don't need to look for anything. You can go on your own or with a group. Suitable for both a party at home and a corporate event in the office.

competition “A Little Pushkin”

It seems to me that all writing talents come to life in the New Year. We write letters to Santa Claus, suffer over beautiful congratulations to family and friends, and children generally have to remember poems in order to lure a legitimate gift from Grandfather Frost. So a literary competition won't hurt you. Select famous poems and leave only the first lines. You can print them on regular sheets or make cards. Then mix them up and distribute them at random to the contestants. They must come up with a funny continuation, not necessarily with a rhyme, but on a New Year's theme. For example: “I remember a wonderful moment - they put a salad on the table.” Or: “God sent a piece of cheese to a crow somewhere - let her have a banquet for the New Year.” The author of the best creation will be chosen by the majority. If you have a large number of guests, you can even create a jury that will objectively (or subjectively) choose the winner. This role is readily taken on by introverts who often ignore competitions, or shy people who are embarrassed to express themselves. Thus, no one will be bored for sure.

Description of the quest

In total, the quest contains 9 puzzles:

  • open the combination lock to get into the Drunkard's house - you need to select 4 numbers;
  • save the Confectioner - a task for attentiveness and logic;
  • fixing the bridge is a geometric riddle;
  • make a sobering cocktail - thematic anagrams;
  • free the advertising agent - an original task for attentiveness;
  • find and free the director of the gift factory - a task of intelligence, based on knowledge of famous people (Michael Jordan, Bill Gates, Madonna, Ksenia Sobchak and others);
  • dealing with mail is a cool task for attentiveness, logic and associations;
  • an alphabetic code, the solution of which is necessary to open the safe;
  • detective puzzle riddle.

Most tasks are based on logic, associative and non-standard thinking, and attentiveness. There are also those that require certain knowledge, but not specific ones. So the cheerful New Year's company will be able to cope with them together.

There are two options: regular and role-playing.

In the role-playing game, each participant is given a secret mission - they get the role of one of the inhabitants of a magical village. Warn participants that no one should know (see) what their mission is. You can assign roles yourself or draw lots.

Examples of secret missions:

  • Find the letters of the LEADER in the quest locations;
  • Be the first to propose the correct solution to at least two tasks;
  • Write your name on the board near the bar;
  • Pretend to be hungover or speak slurred;
  • After each solved task (puzzle), say: “Olivier in my beard! We're the smart ones."

The main mission is for the one who turns out to be the one who steals Santa Claus' alarm clock.

This table adventure begins with this introduction.

Have you ever wondered what Santa Claus does during the year? How does he manage to read all the children’s letters and where does he buy gifts? (no, not on Amazon).

Do you want to know? Then welcome to the village of Santaville. This is the most magical village in the world. Its inhabitants:

The postman is the one who not only reads children’s letters every year, but also fights mail spam.

Barber , who is also a dry cleaning worker, knocks the soot out of Santa's jacket and trims his beard.

The confectioner is a sweet lady whose factory produces sweets for all the children on the planet.

The director of the gift factory - someone must make sure that Klaus does not fly empty-handed to the kids for the holiday.

Reindeer herder - takes care of cattle. Because Santa Claus's transport is the most environmentally friendly in the world.

Tavern Keeper - The villagers need somewhere to hang out, especially during the New Year holidays.

Drunkard - because even in a good fairy-tale village there must be an asocial type.

A visiting advertising agent flew to the village to persuade Santa Claus to become the face of the Coca-Poilo brand.

And, of course, Santa Claus! This is where a kind, bearded old man lives, giving gifts to obedient children. Every year on the morning of December 31st the alarm clock rings and Santa wakes up. He cuts his beard, dresses in a red outfit, throws gifts into the sleigh and goes to work on a trip around the world. And only when the last present has found his child, Klaus returns to the village. The festivities continue here for seven days. Then Santa sets his alarm and goes to bed until the next December 31st.

But this year something went wrong...

On the morning of December 31, Barber slowly got dressed, took his hairdressing tools and, whistling a Christmas song, left the house. The square was somehow suspiciously quiet. Not a single soul. But the worst thing was different. There was nothing on the post where the alarm clock always hangs. Only bare hinges. Barber rushed to Santa Claus's house. It turned out to be locked. Looking out the window, Barber saw a gray-haired old man sleeping.

Screams, knocking and stones on the windows did not help. He knew well that this was a magical “smart” house. And it turns on (wakes up) only from the alarm clock. Barber decides to go to Drunken for help, because in the distant past he was a police investigator.

The quest kit includes:

  1. PDF file with tasks on 11 pages.
  2. PDF file with answers on 4 pages.
  3. Instructions for conducting the quest on page 1. A must read!
  4. High resolution illustration of the village of Santaville.
  5. Introduction on page 1.
  6. PDF file with character testimonies on 4 pages.
  7. PDF file with secret missions.
  8. Two options for ending the New Year's quest depending on the final choice of the players.

This is what the tasks look like

Quests, illustration of the village, missions, character statements and endings must be printed on a printer. Preferably in color. But even when printing in black and white, participants will be able to cope with all the tasks. The colored version just looks more festive. Some sheets will need to be cut in straight lines.

competition “News, hot news!”

What happens on New Year’s Day instantly becomes the property of all media. Prepare cards with a chaotic set of words, for example: raspberry, Antarctica, herring, Johnny Depp. Guests must quickly come up with news for the “yellow press”, using all the words from the sheet. You can start first by telling your own news: “Johnny Depp was on vacation with his wife in Antarctica, but lost money and got a job picking raspberries with the locals. But since there is no money here, they paid him with herring.”
