Development of mechanical engineering in Russia

Mechanical engineering was first identified as a separate branch of industry back in the 18th century. Although in fact it has always existed. Indeed, the manufacture of any production tool, even a stone ax, is also actually mechanical engineering. And what can we say about the times when more precise instruments and instruments appeared, for example, sundials or hourglasses, not to mention mechanical watches? Man has always sought to make his work and his life easier with the help of various devices, and in fact, this was also mechanical engineering. But it was in the 18th century that “machines for making machines” began to be produced in England, which brought mechanical engineering to a completely different level. It was the development of mechanical engineering that gave impetus to the emergence of industrial capitalism, which completely restructured all social and production relations.

Unfortunately, in Russia in the 18th century, mechanical engineering was rather weakly expressed; it was very dependent on imported equipment and was worked mainly by foreign specialists. Russian mechanical engineering was focused mainly on agriculture; it produced simple equipment for it. And in terms of its technical level, until the beginning of the 20th century, Russian mechanical engineering was much inferior to its Western competitors. A small number of cars and metal-cutting machines were produced in Russia, and any more complex equipment had to be imported from abroad.

Nowadays, in 2021, the engineering industry of Russia is a basic element of the country's economy; it is in close interaction with other industries - fuel and energy, military-industrial and agro-industrial complex, transport, communications, construction. If we talk about the structure of industrial production, mechanical engineering in Russia is in second place after the fuel and energy complex and occupies more than 20% in its share. This is not surprising, since not only the volume of the gross domestic product of any country, but also its defense capability depends on the development of mechanical engineering. Therefore, the development of mechanical engineering in 2021 remains one of the main and priority areas in the socio-economic policy pursued by the President and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The three main segments of Russian mechanical engineering - transport, electronics and the heavy industry segment are not entirely in an equal position. The situation is most favorable in transport engineering, which combines automotive, shipbuilding and aerospace industries. Although it must be said that the Russian automotive industry is now mainly engaged in assembling cars of Western brands. But heavy engineering is experiencing a serious crisis: the machine tool and tool industries are in an almost dying state, although factories and enterprises focused on the raw materials, energy or metallurgical industries can still exist normally.

Car Parade An arbitrary number of players take part in the competition. The presenter names any make of car, after which the participants, in turn, must name manufacturers that have not yet been mentioned. The main condition is that the new word begins with the last letter of the previous word. Anyone who fails to answer is eliminated from the game. The competition continues until one participant remains, who becomes the winner.

Draw a car Before the competition begins, participants are blindfolded with a tight bandage. Each player is given a sheet of paper and a felt-tip pen, and is given the task of drawing a car: a car or truck, trolleybus, bulldozer, crane, etc. After the participants complete the task, they remove the blindfold and show their work to the audience. The audience chooses the winner.

Assemble the logo Before holding the competition, you must print the company logo on thick cardboard. The image should be cut into small pieces to make a puzzle. About the profession of mechanical engineer

The path to the profession begins after graduation from a secondary specialized or higher educational institution. Specialists are employed in the metallurgical, oil and gas, chemical, and construction sectors. Thanks to their work, electronic devices and equipment for agriculture, food, automotive, and light industry are created.

The profession of a mechanical engineer is classified as hazardous to health and life-threatening. Workers are entitled to social protection in the form of visits to sanatorium-resort institutions and an increased pension in proportion to their length of service.

History and traditions of the holiday

Let's first define what mechanical engineering actually is. However, the answer to this question is already contained in the very name of this industry. Mechanical engineering is a branch of heavy industry that produces all kinds of machines, tools, instruments, as well as consumer goods and defense products.

But, since mechanical engineering is an extremely capacious and broad concept, it, in turn, is also usually divided into separate groups: general medium, heavy, precision engineering, repair of machines and equipment, as well as the production of metal products and blanks.

But that's not all. Each group related to mechanical engineering is also divided into various subgroups. General mechanical engineering includes the following types of mechanical engineering:

transport - railway, aviation, shipbuilding, rockets and spaceships;
agricultural;
chemical;
timber industry
construction and utilities;
production of technological equipment.

Heavy engineering includes:

Demonstrations of models and photographs of engineering products are opening in cultural institutions. Museums also host thematic exhibitions with samples of complex equipment, working devices and other exhibits. As a rule, entrance to such establishments during the holiday is open to everyone.

It is customary to celebrate Mechanical Engineer's Day on a grand scale in the cities and towns of the country where enterprises from the relevant area are concentrated. In some cases, these are city-forming organizations, so the event is citywide. It hosts ceremonial celebration programs, open concerts with free attendance, car competitions, competitions and other events.

Most enterprises hold a formal part, then corporate parties. There are also Open Days so that employees can come to the plant or factory with their children and other family members. Students and schoolchildren who are curious to see with their own eyes what workers face every day are allowed in.

There are a number of machine-building enterprises operating in Russia, including automobile factories. Of course, in such places the holiday is celebrated on a grand scale. So, traditionally it is celebrated in Togliatti, Samara region, at AvtoVAZ. Here, without exaggeration, this is a triumph of urban significance, since over half of the population is in one way or another connected with the production of cars.

Every year, holiday programs are organized in Tolyatti and artists are invited to hold concerts. In parks and squares there are entertainment events, automobile exhibitions, etc. In addition, an autocross is held here every year. Factory workers with their families and friends come to watch the race, and hundreds of city guests also try to see the spectacle.

Another car plant celebrates the celebrations in its own way. At the GAZ enterprise in Nizhny Novgorod, this holiday is no less significant. The brand is known in the Russian Federation and abroad. Every year here the day begins with a parade of equipment to the site in front of the plant. In the House of Culture, ceremonial events are held with employees being awarded honorary titles.

Of course, the geography of the celebrations is not limited to this. In dozens of regions of the country, the day is also important. For example, in Cheboksary and other cities of Chuvashia, mechanical engineering enterprises employ over 40 thousand people. But Russia also has something to see abroad.
