A gift in a jar is truly something unique! I've made four pet food gift recipes below to show you what's possible, and hopefully it will give you a little inspiration. Candies and treats always look good, as you can see below. when placed in a fancy jar and decorated with ribbon, they make a nice gift, but if you're looking for something more unique, how about filling the jar with layer upon layer of contrasting dry ingredients that can be manipulated as needed, more on that below. Homemade Gifts for food allow people to make their own Christmas treats, at their leisure, and until then they have a cute homemade Christmas food gift to display on the counter or as part of a centerpiece. Plus, homemade gifts in a jar are easier on you than handing out trays of baked goods to your friends, family, and co-workers. Not only do you not have to bake the treats in the first place, but homemade gifts in a jar are much easier to transport than wobbly plates or bulky jars of cookies and other baked goods.
Gift in a jar 1 recipe:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Mix the above flour mixture ingredients together and set aside.
- Mason jars work great for these, but any appropriately sized jar will work well. Wash the jar and make sure to allow enough time for the jar to dry before you begin. Any moisture at any risk can damage your ingredients.
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder (the darker the better)
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans, 1 cup peanut butter, or 1 cup white chocolate
TEA LATTE FOR WINTER EVENINGS
You are probably familiar with this drink, which can be found in any trendy coffee shop today. Indian in origin, this tea has a very bright taste, warms well and generally goes well in cold weather. Making such a mixture at home couldn’t be easier; the main thing is a good coffee grinder and the right spices, which are usually easy to find in the right department.
Chai latte spice mix:
- ¼ cup ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground dry ginger
- 1 tbsp ground cloves (if the store doesn’t have ground cloves, buy pestles and grind them in a coffee grinder yourself)
- 1 tbsp ground cardamom
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 2/3 cup cane sugar
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and place in a hermetically sealed jar (this is mandatory, otherwise the spices will fizzle out very quickly).
Decorate the jar (you can add black tea bags, for example) and add instructions:
Warming tea latte with spices
For 1 serving of tea latte:
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup boiling water
- 1 bag of black tea
- 3 tbsp spice mixture
Heat the milk, brew black tea in a cup, add spices and milk, stir everything well, sprinkle ground cinnamon on top (optional) and drink with pleasure.
You can add a cup to this gift (for example, a simple white cup on which you write your personal wish with a ceramic marker) or wool socks - you will get a great home set!
The note
These recipes were made with measurements in mind, but since measurements and cup sizes may vary slightly around the world, you may find that your ingredients fall slightly short of the top of the jar for a comfortable fit. You can usually fix this by filling the gap with a piece of muslin or a slightly smaller gap you may need to crisp some kitchen paper, wrap the muslin around it and fill the gap. Making Gifts in a Jar
What should a poster with sweets look like in design?
The poster should be bright and colorful, regardless of the age of the recipient. After all, such a gift is a wonderful opportunity to remember the delights of a carefree childhood. Use all available materials. You don't have to be an artist to draw such a poster. Take photographs, clippings from magazines and newspapers, stickers, glitter, print text and pictures on a printer. A hand-made poster with chocolates and inscriptions must contain the name of the recipient. Large inscriptions such as “Congratulations” or “Happy Birthday” can be laid out with small candies.
Filling Your Jar
1.In your clean, dry jar, layer ingredients in a contrasting order, with light ingredients next to darker ones. Make sure your chocolate pecan chips, peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips are on top. One suggested layering order: sugar, cocoa, flour mixture, chocolate chips, additional ingredients.
2.Close the jar securely and make sure it is completely sealed. This will keep the brown mixture fresh for a long time if the recipients of your homemade gifts in a jar would prefer to wait a few months before they make the brownies.
3.Attach a tag or make a contrasting gift tag and card (see photo below) with the following instructions:
How to beat other gifts
- Chewing gum - “let your head be full of fresh solutions.”
- Pharmaceutical herb succession - from allergies to happiness.
- Pharmaceutical herb chamomile - to increase stress resistance.
- Instant pasta - “hunger is not a problem”!
- Anti-hangover pill - “there is never a good morning.”
- A bag of weak coffee - “the alarm should be soft but invigorating.”
- Juice “My Family” – even words are unnecessary here. Such gifts can simply be glued onto posters with chocolates and inscriptions for mom or dad.
Ingredients (makes 1 gift):
- 1 1 1/2 pint jars. Again, a small Mason jar of the appropriate size will work well, but so will any other glass jar with a lid that fits snugly.
- 1/3 cup bouillon granules (whatever flavor you prefer)
- 1/4 cup dry barley
- 1/2 cup lentils
- 1/2 cup dry cut peas
- 1/4 cup onion flakes
- 1/2 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1/2 cup pasta (such as alphabet pasta)
- 1-2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1-2 bay leaves making homemade gifts
Filling your jar:
1.Layer your ingredients in your jar. Your homemade food gifts will look better if you place contrasting colors next to each other. 2.If you live in a more humid climate, wrap the paste before adding it to your jar. 3.Attach a label or tag to the gift box with the following instructions:
Remove the paste from the jar and set it aside.
If desired, add 1 pound brown ground beef or turkey or equivalent amounts, cooked, shredded chicken to the soup pot. Add 1 diced tomato, 1 small tomato paste, 3 quarts water and the rest of the mixture. Boil, then reduce heat. Cover the soup pot and simmer for 45 minutes or until the lentils and split peas are tender. Add to the pasta, black pepper to taste and garlic to taste, restore the pot and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Homemade gift packaging in a jar
These homemade jar gifts can look amazing if you take a little time to add a gift tag or decorate the jar with some patterned card or wrapping paper.

Method:
1.Cut a strip of card or paper to fit about one-third the height of your jar.
2.You can usually pick up good quality cardstock from craft stores. But I've found that wallpaper works just as well, and if you're planning on making a lot of gifts in a jar, it might work out cheaper.
3.Wrapping paper is also a good option, but it needs to be folded for a few seconds to give it a little more ridge.
4.You can add a zig zag effect to the stripe using pinkish scissors to give the jar a nice decorative edge if you like before lowering it into the jar (I wouldn't recommend doing this if you're using wrapping paper).
5.Top off the jar with a contrasting homemade luggage label secured with ribbon.
HOMEMADE GRANOLA WITH MAPLE SYRUP AND NUTS
And here’s an idea for those who are pursuing a healthy lifestyle and for whom you can’t give Nutella and muffins - homemade granola, the best addition to natural yogurt for breakfast or a snack. I love this granola, so I always make more so that I can get it too - try it, it’s really delicious!
I add 2-3 tablespoons of granola to one yogurt, it has a bright taste and crunchy consistency, it works just fine with neutral yogurt.
- 180g plain oat flakes
- 100g almonds or almond chips
- ¼ cup maple syrup or honey
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (refined)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 30 g coconut flakes (optional)
- ½ cup raisins
Set the oven to preheat at 150 degrees. In a deep bowl, combine the oats, almonds, cheese, butter, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Mix everything thoroughly so that the butter and syrup are evenly distributed over the flakes and nuts.
Spread the mixture in an even layer on a baking sheet on a sheet of baking paper and place in the oven. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring the mixture every 10 minutes so that it does not set in a layer, but remains crumbly. Add coconut flakes and bake for another 10 minutes. The granola will turn golden brown as it bakes.
Remove, let cool, pour into a bowl, add raisins, stir and transfer to jars. Decorate them and write wishes for next year.
