When choosing a Halloween costume, many people prefer the image of a mummy. And the whole point is that making a costume for an ancient and terrible mummy is quite simple and quick. AnyDayLife's collection of tips shares with you various ways that will help you make your own mummy costume We will not consider the option of making a mummy costume from toilet paper. Of course, the costs here are minimal, but you can still argue about the durability of this suit
, especially if you decide not to sit through the whole party on a chair without moving.
How to make your own mummy costume
The material for dressing up a mummy for Halloween can be old fabric and bandages, or regular toilet paper. True, in the latter version you won’t have to show off your carnival new clothes for long.
From toilet paper
This is the most budget option for a suit . Unless, of course, you use pipifax from the Japanese company Hanebisho as the material, costing up to $17 per roll. The suit is made in a matter of minutes, and, having played its role, also quickly becomes unusable. Another disadvantage of the fairy-tale outfit is that you should avoid getting water on it, otherwise, instead of the original outfit, you may end up with a pile of wet paper.
- As a base, we take 2-3 rolls of dull gray toilet paper . To prevent the material from unwinding and last at least a few minutes, you can prepare several paper clips.
- Making a mummy starts with the feet . We wrap the paper around the ankle several times and secure it at the bottom with a paper clip, which will prevent the paper from unwinding immediately. But you can do without improvised means.
- We shape both legs in turn, and then smoothly move to the torso .
- Hands are wrapped around the hands.
- Lastly, create a paper hat on your head..
Now you can show yourself to the guests. But you should walk slowly, trying to carefully bend your legs and arms. Squats are also excluded. Another disadvantage of such a quick suit is that after removing it, there are a lot of scraps of paper left behind. Therefore, you will have to arm yourself with a broom and dustpan to clean everything up.
From bandages
Regular medical gauze bandages are suitable for the suit . But first they should be given a dirty brown color, otherwise the mummy will more closely resemble a patient in the traumatology department.
Reference . To color, it will be enough to pour hot water into a basin and put a few tea bags or add thick tea leaves.
You can also use paints by dissolving them in water to obtain a gray liquid.
Rolls of bandages are placed in water, kept for several minutes and wrung out. The workpieces are dried on batteries.
The costume will require approximately 60 packs of bandages . Therefore, you can paint a ready-made suit. To do this, take a wide brush, dip it in the prepared gray or brown solution and apply it over the entire surface of the outfit.
The bandages are wrapped around the body in the same order as toilet paper, but more carefully and in several layers, leaving no gaps . Gauze rolls can simply be tied together, hiding the knots between the layers. In the classic version, the head is also bandaged, leaving a narrow gap for the eyes.
From fabric
The most labor-intensive process is creating a mummy costume from fabric and attaching it to a base. This outfit can be used more than once, striking others with its lifeless appearance.
Instead of bandages, use old sheets or duvet covers . In the absence of such, you will have to buy several meters of natural material.
These types of fabrics are suitable for work.
- Linen . Due to its weaving, the fabric looks like ancient bandages. It is better to buy undyed linen; it comes in gray or beige.
- Cotton . Basically, it is a denser and less expensive fabric. Can be painted well.
- Calico . Another type of dense natural fabric. Raw calico of a milky beige color works well as stripes for a suit.
The fabric is cut into strips 5–7 cm wide. It can also be torn by hand, then the edges will look more natural. If the selected material is white, it is worth getting it a little dirty. To do this, the prepared strips are placed in boiling water with a dye, which can be strong solutions of tea, coffee or onion peels.
A turtleneck, sweatpants, and thermal underwear are suitable as the basis for a suit..
Strips of fabric are sewn onto the base, starting from the bottom. Each subsequent layer is attached in such a way as to hide stitch marks with its bottom edge. The sleeves and trouser legs are trimmed in the same way.
The fabric can also be sewn on by hand.
Important ! It is not advisable to use safety pins to secure the strips.
They may open up. In this case, the suit will be ruined, but you can still get hurt.
Making a suit using a sewing machine
The most comfortable costume can be made by sewing fabric strips to old clothes, imitating the bandages that are wrapped around a mummy. Old light-colored bed linen or unwanted fabric is manually torn into separate strips, the width of which is approximately 5-8 cm. Don't worry about the stripes being uneven and having threads sticking out at the edges - these details will only add realism to the costume.
Using tea bags, coffee or onion peels, the “bandages” need to be painted a dirty yellow or brown color. To do this, place a handful of dye in a large saucepan of boiling water and place strips of prepared fabric there. Depending on the desired shade, the “bandages” are painted for 30 to 60 minutes, after which the material is allowed to dry completely.
An old turtleneck can serve as the basis for the top of the suit. Starting from the bottom, strips of fabric are casually laid on it and sewn on using a sewing machine. You can leave the ends of the “bandages” free and be careless when laying the stitching – the mummy costume only benefits from this. The same steps are repeated with the back of the turtleneck and its sleeves.
The lower part of the suit is sewn on the basis of sports trousers or long johns. The trouser legs should not be very wide - this can spoil the image of the mummy. Strips of fabric are sewn on, starting from the bottom of the trouser legs to the place where the turtleneck will overlap the trousers.
As a finishing touch, you will need a ski mask that covers the head and almost the entire face - bandages are sewn on it in a mess and put on the head. If you don’t have a mask, you can simply wrap your head with strips of fabric, releasing strands of hair in several places and add appropriate makeup. If desired, the suit can be stained in some places with stains of paint or tomato paste, simulating blood.
Makeup and attributes
To prevent the mummy from looking too unrealistic, makeup can be applied to all exposed areas of the body. Foundation will also work.
Particular attention to the face . It should look pale gray and bloodless. To do this, the face is covered with white makeup.
It is advisable to highlight the cheekbones in a dark tone, which will create a thin and haggard look. The eyes are outlined with a black pencil, and dark or yellow-green shadows are applied around them, including the eyebrow area.
If the face remains open, then you can draw a small spider web on the cheek or forehead , using a black or silver pencil.
DIY hippie costume
If you don’t like ominous bloody heads, vampires and other evil spirits, and want to appear at a party in an unforgettable costume, bring the mood of rainbow harmony and hippie . Unlike ghosts, mummies, witches and vampires, there are never too many hippies on Halloween eve.
What will you need for the image? Colorful rags, beads, a ton of jewelry and baubles, baubles, baubles.
We take out all the colorful trash from closets, mezzanines and grandma’s chests and carefully select everything that may be needed to create the image. We'll do the cleaning at the same time! So, what do we choose from the pile of clothes for a hippie costume ?
Long wide skirts are suitable for girls . Monochromatic and dark ones are of no use here. Better - colorful, sunny shades, with numerous patterns. Men can wear trousers in bright colors - red, yellow, green.
Colorful shirts , blouses and vests will look harmonious on both girls and guys. They can be monochromatic (but certainly bright!) or multi-colored.
Pay special attention to accessories. Hippies wear retro sunglasses Put on your hands as many baubles, bracelets and other jewelry made of beads, leather and beads as possible. Complete the look with a few pairs of beads.
a ribbon bandage on the head . This applies to both women and men. Hippies usually wear long hair, so if necessary, use a wig, synthetic locks, or weave colored threads into your hair. a peace message on your body and clothes .
When choosing an outfit, make sure that it looks harmonious and complete. The components must fit together. There can be no strict requirements or restrictions here. The main thing is to convey the colorful hippie mood with your image!
Tips for making a costume
Even a new mummy costume, which is called “brand new”, should look as if it was sewn more than a century ago. Therefore, a few good tips will help bring your chosen image to perfection.
- When sewing strips of fabric, leave the long ends free and... This will create the appearance of shabby and dilapidated.
- Apply a few strokes of red paint to the suit . Our mummy is not only scary, but also bloodthirsty.
- For the female version of the mummy, you can only design a short tunic . White stained stockings will complement the suit.
DIY fried egg costume
The fried egg look became popular after No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani wore the costume at a Halloween party. A few days later, Katy Perry, deciding to be original, dressed up in a similar costume of a simple culinary creation. Kelly Osbourne then the fried egg costume And if the fried egg outfit is so popular in Hollywood, then at a friendly party dedicated to Halloween, you will certainly make a splash.
What do you need for a costume?
You will need a pure white sheet , yellow paint (or plain yellow fabric ), a needle, thread and scissors.
We fold the sheet in half, sew it on the sides, and make a hole for the head. If at this stage you change your mind about being a scrambled egg, you can transform the costume into the image of a ghost. For true connoisseurs of scrambled eggs, we recommend drawing a perfectly even circle on the front of the suit with yellow gouache and painting it over. It is better to first outline the circumference of the future yolk with a pencil.
The yolk can also be made in another way: cut an even circle from yellow fabric and sew it in the chest area on a sheet. Slender “fried eggs” are recommended to sew a suit not from a whole sheet, but from part of it.
You can decorate the costume with appliqué or a pattern in the form of greenery, bacon or lard. An original accessory will be hat decorated with vegetables.
Bon appetit! Well, or Halloween!
Feel free to go to the pharmacy!
Despite the fact that the mummy costumes look very similar to each other, they are radically different. It all depends on the materials, because if toilet paper can tear or deteriorate instantly when in contact with moisture, then bandages will help recreate the real image of an embalmed body.
To create a great outfit, we will need regular medical bandages, but it is best to use elastic ones. Buy bandages that are not sterile and are not of the best quality. This way you can make the mummy costume more believable.
Before you start creating the look, it is recommended to paint the white bandages gray or brown. To do this, you can use regular tea leaves or dissolved watercolor in water.
Why is an elastic bandage better? Because it will fit more tightly to the body than regular gauze. However, it costs many times more and is unlikely to be used for its intended purpose in the near future, and you don’t mind throwing away a cheap bandage after the holiday.
Witch costume
If you want a temptress witch , then there are plenty of options! The skirt can be either short or long; both lush and tight-fitting, with a seductive slit. The jacket can also be anything. You can also wear a long or cocktail dress. The main thing is that the color is monochromatic (black, blue, red) and rich.
A wide belt or corset that emphasizes the waist will decorate the look. Shoes should be with heels, stockings or tights should be seductive or striped (as they are used to seeing in American films).
Makeup and hairstyle - at your discretion! In this image there is no need for protruding hair and frogs, everything should seduce and beckon. A tall broom, a cap hat and a bright manicure will complement the look. The hat can be made according to the scheme described above. Manicure: Long nails in bright red or black. Broom: take a long mop handle or any long stick (about 120 cm), collect thin twigs from any tree the day before (two days before) and let them dry. And then we simply tie the branches to the stick with a tight rope.
Let's work a little
To make a mummy costume with your own hands, you need to take a plain fabric. It is not necessary to purchase new textiles, but simply use old unnecessary sheets or diapers. Even if you decide to buy fabric, ordinary calico costs no more than 100 rubles per meter.
To make bandages, you need to prepare scissors, a pot of water, a stove and dye. We cut the fabric into shreds, the width of which is no more than 10 centimeters. Place the pan on the fire and bring to a boil.
Now we need to dye the fabric and give it the look of old, withered bandages. For this you can use bagged tea or coffee. Add a few tea leaves to the pan until the water turns brown. Dip the white bandages in water and simmer for a few minutes. Then remove the fabric and lay it out to dry. Wrap the body with ready-made bandages and create the image of a mummy.
DIY Caesar costume
The image of Julius Caesar , which has become almost a classic for Halloween, is extremely popular at parties: either men really want to feel like courageous emperors, or the reason is much more prosaic - to create a Caesar costume you can get by with just a white sheet.
There are more than enough positive aspects to such a suit! The image of Julius Caesar is easily recognizable, simple to execute, inexpensive and universal in size.
A sheet is, of course, the simplest option. It seems that the costume of the great commander consisted not only of white fabric wrapped around the body, and therefore do not be lazy to complicate it a little: the emperor must look majestic!
In ancient Rome, a toga was used as outerwear for men - a piece of woolen fabric draped around the body in the shape of an ellipse. The toga was a universal thing: during the day it was worn over clothes, and at night it was used as a bed. They put it on in such a way that the right shoulder and part of the chest were slightly open. It was considered very important to drape the fabric beautifully.
Following the historical truth, we wrap ourselves in a sheet, red or golden cloth, leaving the right shoulder open. The material should not look like a cocoon; straighten the folds of the fabric beautifully.
Do not wear a toga on a naked body; a turtleneck or a shirt without buttons will look best under it. The fabric is secured to the shoulder. Stick to “royal” colors: red and gold will look most impressive in combination with a white sheet (read: toga). You can buy a thin gold ribbon at the store and use it to edge the edges of the suit.
a laurel wreath on the head . To do this, you can wrap your head in artificial flowers. Complete the look with shoes: the emperor's feet should be sandals , Julius Caesar should under no circumstances be wearing sneakers or shoes! However, regular summer sandals will do just fine! Or, as a last resort, barefoot. You can buy a sword and shield .
The Julius Caesar costume is perfect for representatives of the stronger sex who do not like the images of mummies, bloody doctors or vampires and other evil spirits. Dilute the dark forces with history!
It seems like a clownish game to dress yourself in a geek outfit and scare passers-by all day long, but in reality it’s not so simple. By putting on clothes that imitate a certain creature, a person’s personality goes through...
Which fabric to choose?
If you nevertheless decide to purchase fabric in a textile store, then you will need a universal reminder that will allow you to choose the right material at an inexpensive price:
- Linen. Perhaps the most successful material for creating a mummy costume. Firstly, in appearance the fabric resembles ancient bandages that were used to wrap an embalmed body. Secondly, natural linen has a grayish-brown color, which is why there is no need to dye the fabric for a suit;
- Cotton. Thicker fabric compared to linen knitwear. Inexpensive, durable and strong. Can be purchased in any color, ideal for painting.
- Calico. A distant relative of cotton. It is a dense fabric with clearly visible weaves. Inexpensive calico quickly loses its quality, especially after repeated washing. But this is exactly what we need, because the mummy costume should look as if the fabric was soaked in dust, human skin and embalming substances.
DIY vampire costume
The image of a vampire can rightfully be considered a Halloween classic. And even if you are not the only one at a party wearing such a costume, no one will dare to blame you for being unoriginal!
So, what does it take to create the perfect vampire look?
Long cloak. Without it you will never become a vampire! Recommended colors: black, red. A black cloak with a bright scarlet lining looks most impressive.
Sewing a cape for a vampire is not difficult: we take a rectangular piece of black or red fabric, sew it along the edges or hand-sew it, gather it around the neck and sew on matching ties. If you want to decorate the raincoat with a stand-up collar, you need to gather the fabric 5-10 cm lower, sealing the collar with adhesive interlining (can be purchased at any sewing department). For thick fabric, it is not necessary to seal the collar.
Sharp fangs. We all know that vampires feed on blood while biting people with their fangs. Therefore, if you have already decided to be a vampire, take care of your fangs to complete the image of a bloodsucker.
Fangs can be purchased in specialized stores, or you can make them yourself. To do this you will need a plastic fork. It is necessary to separate the lower part and break out the middle teeth from it. The edges must be sanded to avoid injury. We attach the remaining part to the upper gum. It turns out very scary!
Makeup. Halloween is an amazing day when men sometimes wear more makeup than women.
The image of a vampire requires very pale skin, and therefore, when creating the image, do not skimp on light powder, talc or theatrical makeup. A vampire must certainly be pale!
Lips can be lined with red or black, with a dark pencil. The eye line is emphasized with dark eyeliner or shadows. Gray shadows can add blue under the eyes.
So, men, feel like women on this day and check out the contents of your friends’ cosmetic bags!
Cane. A cane is not a necessary attribute of a vampire, but it can make your image much more sophisticated and interesting. Although it is possible that at a party she will only disturb you.
Snow-white shirt, trousers and vest. No “buts”: a vampire should look elegant! You can take your favorite three-piece suit, replacing the jacket with a raincoat, or you can find a red vest to match the lining of the raincoat. Be sure to add some red tones to your look!
Now try it all on and look at yourself in the mirror. Scary? Then you did everything right!
One man sat and banged on the pipe in his apartment. That's how he called the plumber.
When you celebrate Halloween, I wonder who you call...
Useful tips
If you don't want to wrap your body in numerous bandages, you can create an imitation mummy. To do this, take a gray or white turtleneck and tights of the same color. Cut small pieces of fabric and sew them onto the clothing evenly so that it looks like you are wrapped in a bandage.
Another useful tip: do not forget that a real mummy, rising from the tomb, looks special. Her body is withered, the bandages have loosened in parts and hang chaotically from her body, her skin is brown, and all her limbs have literally turned into bare bones.
To create a believable costume, it is important to apply makeup to the skin. You can use foundation, touching all light areas (arms, neck, face, feet), and the bandages should slide off the body, exposing the colored areas.
The cheapest and most disposable costume
Do you want to amuse your family, friends or guests? Use the cheapest toilet paper, the cost of which does not exceed 10 rubles per roll. Thanks to the gray color you will create a unique mummy costume. The main thing here is not beauty, but shabbyness and a terrifying appearance. After all, how can mummies be beautiful if they have lain in a tomb for thousands of years?
Attention! No need to tear off the toilet paper! Try to wrap the body so that it is like a single thread.
We recommend starting to create the image of a mummy from the feet. Secure the toilet paper and carefully wrap it around your limbs so as not to tear it. Cover the left leg with a layer, then move on to the right, and then proceed to design the torso. Leave the hands and head for last.
Don't forget what a mummy costume looks like. You can look at the photo above: there should be small gaps on the body, as if bandages on a withered body practically do not stick. Leave only the eyes, palms and feet visible.
How to make a mummy costume with your own hands: preparing bandages and creating an image
Halloween is a holiday of horrors, when, according to tradition, all evil spirits come out into the world and gather together. So why not make the most suitable outfit for this evening, which fully conveys the atmosphere of this celebration. Moreover, it is very easy to make a mummy costume with your own hands, and most importantly, the available materials will be quite sufficient for this. But how to make a mummy costume? There are only a few simple steps to follow.
Stage 1
First you need to prepare the basis for the costume - bandages. They are easy to cut from a regular old sheet, but in a pinch any other material will do. You can buy it at a fabric store or visit a second-hand store.
As a rule, one sheet is not enough - it is better to buy two at once. If there is not enough material, then the mummy will not be wrapped tightly enough, but even so the costume looks quite good.
The fabric must be carefully laid out on a flat surface, and then, armed with scissors, cut it into equal strips. The width should vary from 5 to 7.5 cm. It is worth considering that accuracy in this case is not only not beneficial, but also harmful. After all, the mummy should look slightly asymmetrical and neat - after all, this is the role of the dead man who left the tomb. Therefore, a ruler is not required - the tapes may well be of different sizes.
You can even make several cuts and then simply tear the fabric. Then the image will be completely flawless - the frayed edges will perfectly complement it. Again, if the strip suddenly “goes” to the side, do not worry - just use scissors to set the direction of the cut, and then continue to tear the material.
Painting material
Snow-white fabric is an excellent base, but a real mummy simply cannot look like that. This means that the stripes will have to be painted in such a way that they look dirty. And regular tea bags are best suited for this purpose.
Making your own mummy costume is quite easy. Initially, you need to prepare a large-volume pan, then fill it no more than 2/3 with water. The container is placed on the fire - at the moment when the liquid reaches a boil, tea bags are thrown into it. Their number depends on the volume of material. If we are talking about making a mummy costume for a child, then only 3-4 pieces will be enough, if for an adult, then a dozen.
You can use not only tea, but also coffee, but in the first case there will be a more suitable shade. After the tea bags are brewed, you need to throw the ribbons into the pan and leave them for about half an hour.
After this period, the tapes are carefully straightened on a flat surface until completely dry. When the fabric is no longer damp, you can apply several random stripes of black paint - this will only complement the chosen image.
Children's Halloween party: how to organize
If you decide to throw a children's Halloween, first of all think about the guest list. The holiday will be especially successful if children of similar ages gather together.
Actively involve your child in preparing for the party. It won't be boring - neither you nor him!
Invitations and gifts
Create an atmosphere of a mysterious holiday even before the party begins: send themed invitations to your guests. You can buy them in a store or make them yourself. There are many options for invitations made with your own hands: figurines of owls, skeletons, pumpkins, bats. Mention in your letter that the party will be a costume party.
Give guests small gifts. Children of any age will be delighted by gummy worms or themed souvenirs.
Jewelry and crafts
Get your home ready for the party with crafts and decorations that are associated only with Halloween. The obligatory symbol of the holiday is a pumpkin with a carved face. The pumpkin can be depicted as good or evil; if your guests are preschoolers, choose a smiling pumpkin. The craft is simple to make: draw a face on a thin-skinned pumpkin and carefully cut it out with a knife.
Other Halloween Crafts and Decorations:
- stickers on windows similar to New Year's snowflakes; you can stick figures of ghosts, bats, black cats;
- pickled brain for older children - put cauliflower in a jar of tea and teenagers will be delighted;
- little ghosts - put pieces of white fabric on white helium balloons and draw funny faces for the ghosts;
- crafts made from autumn leaves - any kind, not just scary ones: animals, fairy-tale characters.
How to Make a Simple Mummy Costume for Halloween
Idea 1 “Mummy costume made from elastic bandages”
To make such a costume, you will need: black or white tight-fitting clothes, which we will use as a base, and elastic bandages for the mummy costume.
We carefully but loosely wrap all parts of the body with bandages around the base so that the outfit does not turn out to be narrow. You can ruin the party if a tight outfit prevents you from breathing.
We fasten the bandages together with knots. Using ketchup or red gouache we draw frightening bleeding wounds.
Idea 2 “Glamorous mummy costume made of ribbon lace”
One of the variants of the first idea, but instead of elastic bandages we use wide ribbon lace. By the way, some people replace lace with a more budget-friendly option - toilet paper. We wear tight-fitting white clothes as a base. A top and white shorts are perfect. You will also need a needle and white thread.
We wrap the body tightly with openwork ribbons, carefully sewing the ends together with threads.
Light-colored shoes and spooky makeup will complete your Halloween look.
Idea 3 “How to sew a mummy costume from bandages”
To sew a mummy costume, you will need a large number of bandages, but you can also use gauze. You will also need white clothes and threads for the base. It should look like pants and a shirt.
We casually cover the base of the costume with bandages: a T-shirt, trousers or leggings.
This work does not require special sewing skills. Vice versa! The more carelessly the outfit is sewn, the more real it will look.
For a girl, you can add a white skirt to the base of the suit and sew bandages to it vertically or horizontally. If you sew the bandages vertically, they will hang down, creating sloppy rags. To make the mummy neat and diligent, by sewing bandages horizontally, you can create ruffles, but with this option you will have to work harder.
That's all. All that remains is to do a few finishing touches:
First, you need to cover your nails with black polish. After all, after lying for several centuries, the mummy will not be able to boast of a neat manicure.
Secondly, pay special attention to your makeup. The mummy should not be rosy-cheeked, so the makeup should be made extremely gloomy. In order for the bandage to take on a yellowish tint, it must be moistened in advance in tea leaves. This outfit will look extremely realistic!

Fallen Angel
What is the main element of an angel? That's right, wings. These are the ones we will create today.
Prepare feathers, thick cardboard, a glue gun, white paint, a wide satin ribbon, newspapers, scissors and a brush.
The manufacturing process is described in detail in this video.
And here is the second way!
All you need to do is draw and cut out a suitable blank from cardboard (it should consist of two parts). Then glue some newspaper on top to make the wings more natural.
Next, paint the base and glue the feathers in rows. The base can also be reinforced at the folds with cardboard inserts, but this is not necessary.
Once both pieces are finished, glue them together and wrap with tape. From the ribbon, make fastenings that can be tied (the master class with photos also shows the possible arrangement of the ribbons).
These wings can be worn with any white dress, and it will become a full-fledged angel costume.
Witch
For the witch you will need a couple of old t-shirts, scissors, thread, a small plastic cone, black felt and assorted decorative items as desired.
Cut the black T-shirt according to the photo. But from green in combination with black, sew a decorative strip, make cuts on it.
Sew the center wedge back. Trim the sleeves and make numerous cuts on them. Sew the updated sleeves to the old T-shirt. Decorate with ties. All!
For the hat, cut a felt circle with a hole in the center. Then make a cone (roll part of the circle) and attach it on top. Decorate as desired.
By the way, an original and unexpected accessory would go well with this look. For example, an unusual mask. Among all the witches, you will definitely be the most unusual with her.
A more playful and lighter option can be created using cardboard and corrugated paper. Use a headband or hair clips as a base.
Maleficent
The true story of this unfortunate fairy touched many. And the image invented by the authors inspires one to transform into this heroine.
Clownness
A flirty look for real ladies.
Little Red Riding Hood

- Now transfer the pattern in two mirror copies onto the faux fur and onto the fleece. Don't forget about seam allowances (about 0.5 - 1 cm)! Baste and then sew the ears using a sewing machine or by hand.
- Take the wire and attach it to the eye, cut it, focusing on the resulting length with a small margin, and wrap the remaining tip around the other. You will need about 40 - 45 cm.
- Turn the ears outward and insert the wire frame inside. Sew the edge with a blind stitch, folding the edges inward. Give the ears the desired shape.
- Sew a piece of long-haired fur on the inside as in the picture. Place a small amount of instant glue in the middle of the edges of the hairpins and quickly press them to the middle of the ears.
Collar
- Measure your neck circumference. From artificial leather, cut 2 pieces of size (2.5 cm x neck circumference in centimeters), and cut the same amount from decorative elastic. You don't have to use an elastic band.
- Cut two pieces of satin ribbon about 15 cm long, burn the edges so that they do not fray. Coat the elastic band and the edges of the tape well with glue on both sides and place it between two pieces of leatherette. Glue the rhinestones.
Paws
- Print out the patterns. I used crimson lines on the first pattern to mark the places where the pads would be sewn on. Transfer the templates to the fabric and cut them out, leaving 5 - 7 mm for an allowance.
- At the bottom of the paws you need to leave 1.5 - 2 cm for bending and inserting the elastic! This applies to both main parts and lining parts. After the parts are cut out, baste and then sew together two parts of the outer, fur layer, and the back, fleece layer for each foot.
- Now turn the backing layer for each foot inside out and put it on the main parts that have not yet been turned out and sew the edge with an overcast stitch by hand or with a zigzag on a sewing machine.
- Without turning the entire workpiece inside out, sweep the edge of the legs to prevent fraying. Fold the edges of the legs as shown in the picture and sew at a distance of 5 mm from the border. Make a small cut in one place on the side to insert an elastic band.
- Cut the elastic bands so that your wrist is comfortable + a small margin for stitching.
- Pass a pin through the cut piece of elastic and pull it through the hole left until the pin appears at the opposite end. Pull out the pin and sew the ends of the elastic together.
- Turn it inside out. Let's start with the pads: sew all the pads along the edge with a forward-needle stitch, and then pull them a little and stuff them with padding polyester. Secure them a little with a few stitches.
- Tighten the largest pad with a thread in two places. Sew the pads to the paws using a blind stitch so as not to catch the inner lining layer. All)
Tail
I made the tail length about 80 cm, but it can be shorter.
I don’t recommend making the tail too long, because turning it out will be a complete pain. To achieve the desired length, simply extend the pattern by continuing straight lines.
- Cut out the tail as shown below. (The side without a seam is the fold line.) Leave allowances.
- Now sew by folding it in half and leaving an opening for turning it inside out. Now slowly turn it inside out while stuffing the workpiece. Sew the opening closed or overcast.
- All that remains is to sew on the brooch mount and decorate the tail with a bow made from a ribbon with a bell (optional).
The whole costume is ready) I think you will appreciate it in the video at the end of the article
Other cats
An unusual idea would be a Maneki Neko or cat thief costume. Try on the image of a Cheshire cat.
For pregnant
Nevertheless, this wonderful female state imposes some difficulties when choosing a suit. On the other hand, you can pay attention to more daring and extravagant options.
How to Make a Ghost Costume for Halloween
We present you the simplest costume options.
Idea 1 “For the lazy”
- We put a white sheet over the head and cut two holes for the eyes.
- To complete the image, we show our imagination and draw a terrifying smile and bloody marks on the sheet with paints or felt-tip pens, and outline the eyes with a black marker.
Idea 2 “For those who cannot walk with their heads covered”
- We take a white sheet; a pillowcase is also suitable for a small child.
- We cut a hole for the head on top.
- There are holes on the side for hands.
- We put on a white turtleneck and a suit on top.
- You can put a mask on your face or apply scary makeup.
The ghost costume is ready. Move silently in style and don't forget to carve the spooky Halloween pumpkin.
Carnival costumes for children (for girls and boys)
Children's costumes are often easier to create than those for teenagers or adults.
Bat
The most important thing about the mouse costume is the huge wings. Anyone can sew one of these themselves if you follow the instructions below.
And here’s another option: here they didn’t get by with a simple black T-shirt, but completely sewed the body of the mouse.
Children's Little Red Riding Hood
A red felt cape and a fluffy skirt are enough.
Young Joker
Stock up on green washable hair dye, makeup and signature accessories. Such a boy will look funny and cool, but very stylish.
Elf
Whatever you choose for the costume itself, do not forget about the pointed ears, which are attached with specialized glue.
Pumpkin
A real outfit made from scrap materials! A somewhat strange, but interesting costume for a baby in the shape of a pumpkin.
Forest fawn
You can take a brown T-shirt and a headband with ears for a more adult option.
Pineapple
Ballet tutu, yellow t-shirt and green top.
Makeup for a mummy costume - adding believability
You need to decide how you will bandage your face - completely, leaving slits for the eyes, or just the back of the head and part of the forehead. The mummy's makeup will depend on this.
The easiest way is to darken your eyes with black paint from a makeup kit. Outline the eyes in black, including the eyebrows and the area under the eyes so that the light areas are not visible from under the bandages. Lighten the mouth and area around the mouth with white paint. Apply black color to your lips or leave them white. A trickle of red blood in the corner of the lips will look especially scary.
If the face is not bandaged, then the “white background” will have to be applied to the entire exposed part.
The image is ready, you are almost ready to go out into the world, all that remains is to add individuality and realism.
Please note: you should do the makeup before you bandage your head, this way the look is more authentic.
Little things create an image, sometimes they are more important than a quality outfit.
If you follow these rules, you will be a terribly beautiful and believable monster. Have a terrible Halloween and bright holidays!
Source
The first stage is the preparation of dressing material.
The next step is to age the material.
A snow-white monster will cause laughter, and, as the great Stanislavsky said, the reaction: “I don’t believe it!”
The easiest and most famous way is to soak the fabric in tea. Place about 10 tea bags on a pan of boiling water and leave the cloth in it for a couple of hours. Then dry it, and the workpiece is in your hands. For greater authenticity, apply a little black paint in a random order - you were in a hurry for the holiday and crawled right out of the ground.
Stage two - assembly.
At this stage, you have to decide on the assembly method - either sew stripes onto clothes, or tie them directly on the body.
The first method is more labor-intensive, but the outfit will reward you with comfort, durability, it will not restrict movement or cause discomfort.
You will need the following:
Find clothes in your wardrobe that you don't mind throwing away, preferably light or flesh-colored. The ideal option is thermal underwear for flexibility, mobility and comfort.
We unravel the sleeves at the seams and begin sewing on the cuts.
Don’t think too much about neatness - the mummy doesn’t take good care of herself. Over the millennia, you have become pretty disheveled.
That's it - the main work is finished, all that remains are cosmetic additions and, of course, fitting. It will give you an understanding of whether the suit needs to be modified or not. All that remains is to bandage your hands and head.
The second method of creation is manual dressing. The method is suitable for those who do not have a sewing machine.
Several tapes are fastened with knots - the stronger the better.
Now wrap yourself, starting from your feet, crosswise. Protruding knots will not spoil the picture, but will only add negligence to the image; the more there are, the better.
But keep in mind that a bottom layer of clothing is necessary - the tighter it fits you, the better.
It is better not to wrap the crotch area - this will make it difficult to go to the toilet at a party and restrict movement when walking (well, although the mummy should not move quickly, right?). In this case, an elongated tunic will save you.
Once you've wrapped your legs, move on to your arms - you'll need help here. Shake your hands like boxers before a fight - passing the ribbons between your fingers and fixing your hands. The main rule is ease of movement, otherwise after an hour of celebration you will curse everything and return to a quiet “tomb”.
