How to make a vampire costume with your own hands. Children's and carnival vampire costume

The Halloween holiday came to us from the West relatively recently, but despite this, every year it is gaining more and more popularity among our compatriots. What would All Saints' Day be without a masquerade? Therefore, on the eve of this holiday, many of us begin to wonder what to wear to the party. One of the most successful and fashionable images can be safely called a vampire carnival costume. How to make it yourself will be discussed in our article.

Vampire costume for boy and man

Numerous films about bloodthirsty but charming vampires, constantly shown on television, have contributed to the fact that the image of these creatures has clearly formed in our minds. As for clothing, the indispensable attributes of a bloodsucker costume are black trousers, an exquisite silk shirt, a burgundy or bright red vest and gloves. You can complement the look with the help of a small accessory - a frill or a Celtic cross, which is easy to find on sale today.

Also, the appearance of a bloodsucker would be incomplete without a luxurious long black cloak. Since not every one of us is a jack of all trades, sewing is not necessary (the only exception is, perhaps, a children's vampire costume). You can look in your wardrobe or ask one of your friends or acquaintances for a dark-colored raincoat designed for the off-season. If you own such a thing or were able to get it somewhere, then to complete the look you need to raise the collar and not put your hands in the sleeves. A raincoat with a red lining will look especially impressive, but you can do without it.

For children

Not only adults, but also children love dressing up as vampires. Imagine how great a whole family of a vampire mom, dad and little ghoul son or daughter will look! In short, dressing up as bloodsuckers for children on Halloween is common and not prohibited by anyone.

To make the image of a child stylish and realistic, but without unnecessary mysticism and cruelty, think over the basis and attributes. Boys can be dressed in the same way as older guys: in a classic white blouse, vest and trousers. The girl wears an elegant dark-colored dress. The desired ambiance can be achieved with a floor-length cloak with a contrasting lining and cute fake bats or spiders frozen on the shoulders or cloak.

The look will be completed with cool face painting. Paint the cute children's faces white, line their eyes with red and black cosmetic pencils and be sure to come up with something to make the fangs out of. The final image should be fun and thoughtful, but not too scary. Remember about children's sensitivity, do not go too far in an effort to achieve maximum resemblance to a vampire from the most terrible horror films.

I hope I helped you decide on a plan of action for creating a vampire costume for Halloween. Share instructions and ideas with your friends and get ready for Halloween together! See you again!

Sincerely, Anastasia Skoracheva

Don't forget about makeup and hairstyle

In order to complete the image of a vampire, you need to take care of your hair. This is done very simply: apply hair gel to your hands and thoroughly ruffle the hair on your head. If you have long hair, you can also comb it back using gel, giving your hair shine and shine. If you are preparing a vampire costume for a child, then a suitable outfit and an appropriate hairstyle will be enough. If a teenager or an adult plans to participate in a masquerade, then you should not neglect the appropriate makeup.

The make-up of a bloodthirsty bloodsucker is not difficult to achieve. You just need to apply several layers of light powder on your face and line it with a black cosmetic pencil. You can also add purchased or home-made vampire fangs to the image and draw a thin stream of blood that seems to flow from the mouth.

Materials tools for work

Making a product such as a poncho requires the use of the following tools:

  • Textile. Selected in accordance with the future model.
  • Sewing needle.
  • Threads.
  • Soap or a special marker for applying cutting marks to fabric.
  • Sewing scissors.
  • Buttons. You can also prepare beads, ribbons, and other decorative ornaments if you want to make not a banal cape, but a fashion accessory.
  • Overlock. If there is no equipment, then use a special foot for a sewing machine, which acts as an overlocker. This is necessary for processing the edge of the product.
  • Iron. Will be used to smooth out individual parts.
  • Measuring tape. If there is none, then a ruler is used.
  • Sewing machine for connecting all parts into a single whole.

How to make a vampire costume for girls and women with your own hands

If in the case of a carnival outfit for men everything is quite simple, then the representatives of the fair half of humanity will have to, as they say, sweat a little over the image of a bloodsucker. In order to look like a real vampire, you need to take care of a long dress (preferably in a Gothic style), appropriate makeup, and a luxurious hairstyle.

You may need to fork out a little to buy an outfit or spend some time sewing it yourself. However, this is the highlight: you can be sure that there will be no two identical vampires at the holiday.

As for the length of the dress, young girls can give preference to short dresses, however, made in the same black and red tones.

In general, the principle of creating a suit for the fair sex is the same as for men: black main color interspersed with burgundy or bright red. However, it is possible to break such traditions a little by choosing for the carnival a dress that is already in your wardrobe in other colors, which can be tied to the vampire theme using various accessories: a cross, a corset, decorations with a bat, etc. In addition, do not forget about such important elements of the image as long gloves and a belt. And if your dress has long sleeves, you can sew improvised bat wings onto them, which will definitely make your outfit luxurious and memorable.

What to wear with a cape coat

A cape coat is great for autumn, and you can combine it not only with elegant looks, but also with jeans and thick leggings. To create a feminine look, the product can be combined with short dresses, skirts, boots and ankle boots.

Now you can sew a cape yourself and add a new item to your wardrobe that will make you more elegant and will last you for many years.

Makeup and hairstyle for a vampire costume

The base makeup for the female bloodsucker look is very pale powder combined with bright red lipstick and eyes with black eyeliner. At the same time, in order not to overload the image, you should focus either on the lips or on the eyes.

As for the hairstyle, it must be intricate. If you plan to appear at a party with your hair down, then give it a stylish disheveled look or curl it in large, beautiful curls. You can also create a luxurious updo by decorating it with some thematic elements.

Cutting the product

To sew a cape, the pattern must be made strictly according to the measurements taken. When making a model with a hood, you will need to know the length and size of the head. The pattern is made on fabric with the following dimensions:

  • The width is usually taken from 1.2 to 1.5 meters.
  • The length is measured from the shoulder to the required hem level.

The hood is made of two squares, the sides of which correspond to half the size of the head. In this case, overlaps are made within five centimeters on the seams.

But the work doesn't end there. For ease of wearing, the hood should be rounded at the top of the head. Closer to the neck, the side of each square decreases by five centimeters. In this case, the front part of the hood is made longer than the back by three centimeters.

After carrying out these steps, the cape pattern is laid out on the fabric to obtain individual elements. If thick fabric is used for the product, it would not hurt to make hidden tucks. This means that recesses are made in the neck area, which ultimately shortens the length of the cut. When the product is made of light fabric, it is not necessary to make darts.

Making vampire fangs from soft plastic

Today you can find a large number of different sets for children's creativity on sale. You should purchase one that includes modeling accessories. Take white plastic and, through trial and error, try to sculpt fangs of the shape and size that suits you. Don't forget to try on your new teeth and imagine how you will look at the holiday, as they say, in all your glory. If the craft is a success, dry it in the oven until completely hardened. You can adapt the fangs to your own teeth using nail glue. However, once you enter the image, do not try to bite off a piece of meat or an apple, otherwise all your work will go down the drain.

How to sew Dracula's cloak

First, find a white shirt, black trousers, tie and vest in your wardrobe. Almost every man has such a set. After this, proceed to creating the most important element of the Dark Hero - the cloak. For this you will need red and black crepe satin, ribbon, and interlining.

Once you have sewn both parts of the cape together, the back should look slightly lower than the front as the red background gives this outfit a robe effect.

So, take 2 multi-colored pieces of fabric, fold them together and make a pattern in the shape of a half-sun. Make the ties 15 centimeters each and sew them between the black and red fabric. Remember that the red fabric should be on the inside and the black on the outside. Sew the braid to the hem of the cloak, thereby covering any possible unevenness in the cut.

Making bloodsucker fangs using cotton wool

This method is simple and at the same time very unreliable. In order to make fangs, take an ordinary cotton swab and remove the tips (the cotton components themselves) from it. You need to drop a little nail polish on each tip, press it to your teeth and hold it for a short time. At the same time, you should not count on a long-lasting effect from vampire fangs, since if you keep your mouth closed, the cotton wool will very quickly soften and lose its appearance. Therefore, we recommend resorting to this method only as a last resort.

How to sew a Count Dracula collar

Next, move on to the most difficult part of the Count Dracula costume - the collar, which should be high and stand-up. Take black and red fabric of a stiff texture, fold the canvases together, turn the front side inward. Pre-measure the neck circumference and add another 5 cm to this value in reserve. This will be the lower part of the collar, mark it as measurement “A”.

Draw a trapezoid on thick paper (cardboard), its short base should be equal to “A”, and its long base should be twice as large. Cut out the pattern and place it on two multi-colored pieces of fabric and non-woven fabric. Next, cut out three identical pieces. After this, place the non-woven fabric with the glue side on the black fabric, cover with thick paper and iron with steam.

In total, you will spend about 4 hours and a maximum of 1000 rubles on creating the Count Dracula costume.

Then fold the interlining (it should be on the outside), black and red fabric together. Sew the interlining along the edge and turn the collar inside out. Carefully iron the finished collar, paying special attention to the corners, as they should be sharp and even.

The last step will be sewing the collar to the cloak. It is better to sew the collar with the black side inward. When it is raised, the red fabric on the outside will be visible to others. Finally, sew a large button on one side of the collar and a loop on the other.

Once the costume is ready, don't forget about the main vampire accessory: fangs. And, of course, vampire make-up: blue under the eyes, pale face and bright red lipstick. Creative success to you!

Main features of the image

To make a vampire costume for Halloween, you need to think about what you want the character to look like. Main features of the image:

What should a ghoul's clothing be like? Photos of various vampire costumes for Halloween are more reminiscent of Victorian era clothing. Let's not forget that ghouls can exist for many hundreds of years (of course, if they don't meet a hero armed with a pistol with silver bullets or an aspen stake on their way). Therefore, it is not surprising that many vampires prefer the fashion of their time.

A vampire can look quite natural in modern clothes (remember the Twilight saga), but you cannot deny his elegance.

Making the image scary

To make a vampire look like a bloodsucker, it is necessary to attach artificial fangs. Buying special overlays for teeth is not a problem today, but you can make artificial fangs yourself. To do this, cut an arc from the cylindrical part of a plastic bottle. We process the edges well so that they are not sharp and cannot damage the gums. The fangs themselves can be cut out of white plastic (it’s convenient to use artificial nails, but you can take a white plastic bottle from household chemicals). We attach the cut out “clicks” to the cut out arc with tape or any other convenient method. We insert the plate into the mouth.

All that remains is to stain your lips with artificial blood, you can replace it with bright red liquid lipstick.

Our costume is ready, but to make the image even more impressive, it’s worth doing the appropriate makeup.

The shocking image of a vampire is a win-win option for a successful outfit for Halloween or another costume party. It has long since become a beloved “classic of the genre.” A pale face, bright makeup and the spectacular appearance of the prince of darkness will not go out of fashion for a long time.

Where can I get such a suit? One option is to order it from an online store. However, you can also make it yourself. How to do this will be discussed in this article.
