Every child’s dream is to vividly transform into non-existent characters. Some people like cute princesses, some like wild animals from cartoons, some imagine themselves as fairies and sorcerers.
We propose to plunge into the gloomy atmosphere of the zombie apocalypse for one evening. There is chaos all around, wild zombies are wandering around the world, hungry and creepy-looking. There are bloody marks on the walls, and remains of bones on the ground... My heart beats faster with every step.
With this approach, unforgettable impressions and intense emotions from a horror party are guaranteed.
A party in this style is suitable for children aged 10 years and older. You can celebrate Halloween, graduation, New Year or birthday in the style of a zombie apocalypse.
Read on in the article to find out how to decorate a room, what to wear to scare people around, and how to have apocalyptic fun.
Where to spend it?
Everyone knows where cruel and bloodthirsty zombies live. In cemeteries. However, this does not mean at all that this is where you should go in order to have a lot of fun. Agree, it will be at least strange...
Therefore, it is quite possible to limit yourself to some transformations of your apartment and create in it the necessary atmosphere of chilling horror (within reasonable limits, of course, you are still going to have fun!).
To organize a party, you can also rent a banquet hall or a small cafe, gather with friends at the dacha, or even organize a similar celebration in your office.
How to decorate a zombie themed party room?
The theme of this event involves the use of quite specific and unusual decorations and accessories, some of which can be purchased in souvenir shops, and some parts can be made independently.
Be sure to use the following decorative elements to decorate the room:
- Toy web. When combined with appropriate lighting, it will create a truly gloomy and eerie atmosphere in your apartment.
- Posters and posters depicting zombies, vampires and other monsters; as well as landscapes with a cemetery theme.
- Skeletons, toy brains and other “cute” things that children love to scare each other with. In this case, the darker and more unusual the toys are, the better.
- Candles. An unusual shape is best.
- Voodoo dolls, toy heads, etc. All these attributes can be bought in souvenir shops.
But the main decoration of the party will, of course, be its main characters - the invited zombies! Terrible, but cute...
DIY Halloween
This holiday has an ancient history; the ancient Celts began to celebrate it. According to legend, on the night of October 31 to November 1, the spirits of dead people appear on earth. They need to be appeased so that they do not cause misfortune. So, gradually the legend grew into a cheerful holiday, for which it is customary to dress up in scary costumes depicting spirits and monsters, go from house to house and ask for sweets - to receive “appeasement” for the spirits.
In Russia, house-to-house visits are not accepted, but the love of dressing up and having fun is in the order of things, and therefore the holiday pleases both children and adults. In 2021, Halloween is celebrated on October 31, but in other years the date may fall on the 28th, 29th, or 30th.
Organizing Halloween for kids or teenagers is no more difficult than for adults. The holiday can be celebrated at home, in a cafe, in a kindergarten, at school, in a camp. Organizing a children's party goes through the following stages:
- Drawing up a guest list and issuing invitations to the holiday.
- Script writing.
- Preparing costumes.
- Hall decoration.
- Table preparation.
At all stages it is important to show Halloween symbols:
- An orange pumpkin with a face carved on it.
- Witch.
- Jack Pumpkinhead.
- Black cat, etc.
Stick to black, orange and white colors that are traditional for the holiday.
What to treat?
Another well-known fact about zombies: they absolutely adore human brains. Therefore, the main course of the evening should resemble something similar. A universal means for creating such specific dishes is the well-known jelly or jellied meat, which can be given the appropriate shape.
You can also make a variety of baked goods in the shape of parts of the human body, and from boiled eggs and olives you can create something similar to a human eye. In general, feel free to experiment, and your monstrous gluttonous guests will appreciate it!
Surely they will like the original and tasty snack “Cheese Mummies”, especially since it is prepared very quickly and easily.
For it you will need: a loaf or white bread, cut into cubes, string cheese (it is better to take unsmoked). You also need to take any vegetables and ketchup for decoration.
Fry the sticks of loaf or bread in a frying pan until crispy. Separate the cheese braids into individual fibers. Wrap the not yet cooled blocks with cheese fibers so that they resemble a mummy; leave slits for the eyes. Place the finished “mummies” in a salad bowl along with vegetables. Serve with sauce. Bread can also be replaced with puff pastry sticks.
And there can be a lot of such ideas, the main thing is to use your imagination and not be afraid of bold experiments! And also, keep in mind that such “guests” must certainly leave the holiday well-fed, because otherwise they may attack you...
Build a monster
In this competition, the winner will be the team (and the team does not yet know that it is a team) that will assemble the monster faster than the rest. So, in advance for the competition you need to print out pictures of various Halloween characters, for example, Freddy Krueger, the Mummy, Dracula, Zombie, the Ghost of the Bride and so on. Cut all the pictures into equal parts (about 6 parts). All party guests stand in a circle and close their eyes with one hand extended forward. The presenter uses tape in a chaotic order to attach different parts of the pictures to the hands of the guests (one part - one hand). As soon as all the pictures are distributed, cheerful “afterlife” music starts. And the guests must assemble their hero. Whoever succeeds the fastest will become a real team, and will also receive a prize.
What to drink?
Unlike other representatives of the “dark world” - vampires, for example - zombies are not very big drinkers. Although they are unlikely to refuse warm, seething human blood. Brr...
By the way, tomato juice may well play its role at your holiday. You can also treat your guests to an unusual cocktail of the same name, “Bloody Eye.” Maybe then they will leave you and your brains alone?..
- 60 ml gin or vodka;
- 15 ml vermouth;
- olive;
- large radish
Peel the radishes so that there are red pieces of the skin resembling veins left on it, cut a hole in it and place the olive there. Place the vegetables prepared in this way into ice trays, add water and freeze.
Before serving, mix vodka and vermouth and place ice cubes with frozen radishes stuffed with olives in a glass.
How to have fun at a zombie party?
Since your guests will have to work hard on their creepy costumes, you should definitely reward their efforts by organizing a competition for the scariest, cutest, charming or funny zombie. The winners in each category receive prizes in the form of various horror souvenirs.
Among the active entertainments, you can perform a joint “Dance of the Little Zombies”, by analogy with the “Dance of the Little Ducklings” familiar from childhood, only in this case the “walking dead” will dance. Moreover, the tempo of the music should constantly increase. The one who loses the rhythm is eliminated. The winner will be the most persistent and standing zombie.
In addition, you can invite your guests to compete in creating dark and terrible compositions and figures from pumpkins or other suitable vegetables.
Dancing to music, stories and stories in the “black, black room” style, as well as watching your favorite horror films will perfectly complement the party and make it more interesting.
Apocalypse Costumes
After decorating the room, it's time to move on to zombie outfits. They should be made dark enough, but at the same time bright, so that the children have fun. We offer several costume options for a zombie apocalypse themed party.
You can make some of them yourself at home. If desired, costumes can be rented or purchased.
For boys
Gloomy Mummy
The mummy costume is very simple to make; it is not difficult to construct from scrap materials. At the same time, it conveys an eerie post-apocalyptic state.
You will need: many scraps of white fabric. First, take a sheet or other fabric. Make small cuts, 5-7 cm wide. And then tear them apart with your hands.
To slightly change the color of the fabric, place it in a boiling container with 3-4 black tea bags for about half an hour.
Then take out the fabric and dry it.
The next stage: you need to cover any tight clothing with these scraps of fabric. Long sleeve golf socks and old leggings will do. It will be more convenient to do this with a sewing machine. The more careless the better.
If you don't have a sewing machine, you can wrap the garment in fabric and secure it with strong knots. It is important to secure it tightly so that nothing falls off. More material may be needed.
The costume is ready! For greater effect, wrap your face with a dressing, leaving only the eyes. And go ahead and scare others!
Mad Doctor
What's a zombie apocalypse without a crazed surgeon? To transform you will need: a medical gown, a mask, a hat and a lot of bloody traces.
You can wear jeans and a sweater or T-shirt under the robe. Select medical clothing by size, shorten if necessary.
Bloody trails can be made using red paint.
Excellent complementary accessories would be: a bloody collar, a decorative nail in a finger, an ax on a hoop.
Place some eyes and cut off fingers in your pocket.
Using special “tubes of blood” and red makeup, “decorate” the doctor and his clothes. You can use floor stickers in the form of bloody footprints. So that guests know for sure, there is a mad doctor here.
Office Zombie
Probably one of the creepiest fantasies about the apocalypse is zombie bites. And then ordinary people, peaceful office workers, turn into feral creatures.
This transformation does not require special efforts or unusual outfits.
You can wear comfortable trousers/jeans and a shirt/jacket/T-shirt. Don’t take things that are too new, because they will have to be “modified.”
Make cuts on your jeans and decorate your shirt with bloody marks.
Be sure to apply makeup to the skin of your face, neck and hands: a pale green color will do. Moreover, you can do this not very carefully, so that there are also traces of paint on the collar and sleeves.
Suitable accessories include a bolt or a knife on a hoop, a pendant in the shape of a leg or a hand. A tray with a hand inside, instead of the usual food, is perfect for an office employee.
Overall, have fun.
For girls
Zombie Schoolgirl
She seems to be a sweet girl, in a plaid miniskirt, a neat blouse and white shoes... But if you take a closer look, she’s a real zombie.
There are fangs in his mouth, his face is green, there are bloody marks on his neck, and he is holding someone’s leg in his hand.
Something like this transformation would be suitable for a zombie party.
Do not take clothes that are too valuable or new. An old school uniform will do.
You can braid your hair into two braids or two high ponytails.
Pale green makeup is required. You can create dark circles around your eyes. Hang a pendant with a skull around your neck and put rings on your hands.
Learn the zombie gait: limp, body skew, arms and legs in different directions. This will have a stunning effect.
Ghost
White translucent dress, white tights, dark shoes. Sew three black spots on the dress in the form of eyes and a mouth. Let your hair down, put a white mask on your face, and apply white makeup.
You can also use a darker version - a costume that is put on the head, with holes for the eyes and mouth. A more total transformation.
For effect, you can walk and make strange sounds, scaring people from behind. In general, have fun like any ghost.
walking skeleton
Another transformation option is into a skeleton. Wear a black outfit with bones on it. You can throw a black cloak with a hood on top. Draw bloody marks on your hands.
It will be great if the “bones” on the clothes are fluorescent and glow. This is especially scary.
Apply white makeup to your face and tie your hair in a ponytail.
