Today we will talk about what competitions can be organized and held for Mother’s Day in kindergarten and school. After all, Mother's Day has been celebrated quite actively in recent years.
Being a mother is a great joy, and difficult, important work. Let the hugs of children's hands give you the strength to live.
You can add more emotions and positivity to the holiday and diversify its scenario with the help of fun competitions. Games and competitions for Mother's Day not only provide entertainment, they also promote unity and improve relationships between children and their mothers. This is especially true for various competitions in which not only children, but also mothers themselves participate.
As a rule, drawing and poetry reading competitions are held on this day. But, for festive events, active, funny, cheerful, amusing and intellectual competitions are no less relevant.
We bring to your attention a selection of interesting and positive competitions for Mother’s Day, which are suitable for both kindergarten and school. Mothers, children and entire teams can take part in them.
Games and competitions for Mother's Day in kindergarten
Competition "Guess the riddle"
Mothers and children form teams. The presenter reads out the riddles, and the teams guess according to the principle of “who is faster.”
Examples of riddles:
This warm word warms the heart, And without this word there is no life. Morning, noon and evening I stubbornly repeat this eternal, affectionate word - ... (mother)
They sparkle in mom’s ears and play with the colors of the rainbow. Drops and crumbs of jewelry turn silver... (Earrings)
Mom will cook this dish for everyone for lunch. And the ladle is right there - He will pour it into plates... (Soup)
To be a beautiful mother, you need to take mascara and blush. And you need to paint your lips with Pearlescent... (Lipstick)
I walk along the path, but my legs are tired. Jump over the pit Who will help? I know -... (Mom)
During the day she works, In the evening she is a wife, If there is a holiday, she is a lady, Who is this? My mom)
Competition "This is my mother"
Mothers taking part in the competition sit down on chairs arranged in a row. Their children take turns being blindfolded. Each child should recognize his mother by touch, touching the face, hair, shoulders and hands of women. After the baby tries to guess, the mothers change places.
Competition "This is my baby"
This competition is similar to the previous one. Only now mothers guess their children. The children stand in a row. Mothers are blindfolded one by one and must find their child by touch. When the participant changes, the children change places. You can recognize your child by touching his face, haircut, clothes.
Competition "Mom's Basketball"
We form teams of mother plus her child. The mother stands opposite the child at a distance of 1.5-2 meters and folds her hands in the shape of a basketball hoop. The kid throws balloons into this ring. Mom is allowed to help by moving her hands. But it is forbidden to leave the place. The winner is the team in which the child throws the most balls.
Competition "Portrait of a Mother"
The children are given an “interview” in advance, in which they answer questions about their mothers. The teacher writes down the answers. Example questions: what does mom do in her free time, what does mom like most, what color are her eyes, etc. Then, based on children’s descriptions, moms must guess themselves.
Competition "Shopping"
Two couples take part (mother plus child). They stand at one end of the hall. On the opposite side there is a table where food (fruits and vegetables) and household goods (dishes, sponges, soap, toothpaste, shampoo cans) are stored - this is a “store”. Adults are given “shopping lists”, which contain 7-10 items from those that are in the “store”. The mother names one object to the child, who runs to the table, takes it and comes back. Then he names the second item - the baby runs to the “store” again. Whichever team collects everything on the list faster wins.
Concert or holiday?
So, of course, the concert also takes place. But in this case it is desirable that several groups can be combined. It is difficult to prepare a full-fledged concert of at least 30-40 minutes with one group. But I know that not every kindergarten has the opportunity to seat parents from two groups as spectators, and in most cases grandmothers also come to see their grandchildren.
Alternatively, in this case, you can show a short skit, give the children not participating in the skit the opportunity to read poetry, as well as sing a song and show a dance. It is quite possible to prepare such a mini-concert for 20 minutes. And then organize a joint tea party. It will be very nice.
If you still decide to prepare a holiday, then I will not give you a specific holiday scenario from start to finish. There are plenty of such scenarios on the Internet. If you want, you can find anything you want. For example, I never use ready-made scripts. Yes, they can be used as a basis, but I have never once approached a single script from start to finish. Either the song is inappropriate, or the competitions are somehow primitive, or something else. Therefore, I give you numerous ideas, and you arrange them depending on what suits you and make candy out of it.
First of all, the scenario needs to be built depending on the age of the children. For the younger ones there are more music competitions and songs. Seniors themselves can participate in the script, playing small and simple roles.
Competitions for Mother's Day at school
Competition “Congratulate Mom”
For this competition you need to prepare cards for Mother's Day in advance. Each child should have his own postcard, he must sign it with his own hand. We lay out the postcards on the table. Each mother, in turn, must find from among all the postcards the one prepared specifically by her child. You can recognize your child's work by handwriting or style.
Competition “Songs about mothers”
We select several participants. These can be either mothers or children. Participants take turns calling out the names of songs about mothers. The one who remembers the most songs wins this competition.
Competition for Mother's Day "Getting ready for school"
School textbooks, notebooks, covers, pencil cases, folders for notebooks and various stationery are laid out on the table in several copies. We place 4-5 briefcases nearby (according to the number of participants). At the leader’s signal, mothers come to the table, take a briefcase and get the child ready for school according to the schedule of a specific school day. You just need to pack your briefcase carefully, so that the notebooks are covered and in a folder, all the stationery items are in the pencil case, and don’t forget to put a lunch box and a water bottle. The mother who packs the briefcase faster and more accurately wins.
Competition “I will always help my mother”
For the competition you will need several pots and the same number of sets of toy fruits and vegetables. We select participants. Everyone goes to their own pot. Competition task: cook borscht faster than your opponents. To do this, you need to select the ingredients necessary for this dish and put them in a pan. The participant who “cooked” the borscht the fastest wins.
Competition “I know my mother well”
Participants take a piece of paper and sit down so as not to see each other’s answers. The presenter reads out the questions, and the children and mothers simultaneously, but each answers them on their own sheet of paper. Then the answers are compared and the results are summed up.
Sample questions: What does mom do? How old is mom? What's your favorite movie? What is mom's favorite dish? What song does mom like? What is mom's favorite color? And so on.
Competition "Dance Assortment"
We invite mothers to dance a little to different styles. For example, you can make a cut from hits of the 80s and 90s, or add an excerpt from a tango or waltz. The most flexible participant wins.
Competition "Mom of all trades"
We form teams of mother plus her child. Each couple is given a set for creativity: needles and threads, several scraps of fabric, lace, and ribbons. The set also includes completely inappropriate materials, for example, disposable plates, glasses, a plastic bottle, and garbage bags. The task of each team is to make a carnival costume using this set. A creative approach to making outfits is assessed.
Cooking competitions for Mother's Day
The easiest tests for mothers to prepare: • You need to peel the potato so that you get the longest spiral of skin. • Write down the most dishes whose names begin with a certain letter. • Blindfolded, guess small kitchen utensils by touch: spoons, forks, whisk, mixer attachments, slotted spoon, etc.
Competition "Confused"
The teacher collects one thing from the children in advance that they need for school. For example, a diary, pencil case, pen, ruler, notebook. The collected accessories are placed in an opaque bag. The presenter takes out the items one by one and asks: “Who lost?” If the mother recognizes the child's item, she should raise her hand.
Competition "Breadwinners"
It is necessary to prepare 4-5 small opaque containers and the same number of clean spoons. Place some delicious food in a container: honey, jam, condensed milk, sour cream. We blindfold mothers. Children take a spoon in their hands and treat the contestants with what they have chosen (one dish for each participant). Mom must guess what her child treated her to.
These are the kind of competitions you can organize for Mother’s Day in kindergartens and schools. Have a nice, happy holiday!
How to prepare for the holiday?
Before you get ready for the holiday, decide whether you will organize a concert or whether it will be a music festival with competitions. Of course, the second option will be more interesting, because parents want not only to watch the performance, but also to participate in competitions with their children.
In addition, shortly before the holiday itself or before preparing for it, it is necessary to have a conversation in a group, show some cartoon about the warm relationship between children and parents. It could also be a cartoon about animals and their babies. Then, together with the students, discuss some points.
You can conduct an oral survey by asking children to choose answers from several options. For example, what kind of mother do they think they are, how they help their mother around the house, what they are willing to do to make sure their mother always smiles, how often they kiss their mother. The results of this survey can be posted in the group’s locker room before the party. Parents will be interested to know the average value in the group. Moreover, I think it is very funny to read and discuss.
You also need to prepare some handmade gifts for mothers in advance. These can be small painted pictures or a flower made in one of the modern techniques, or a postcard. I think you can find interesting crafts online.
Next, in the group, you can organize an exhibition of the works that the children completed during the last classes. Again, this is very important for communication between children and parents. They will tell you how they did it, what worked and what didn’t. After all, parents usually bring and pick up their children from kindergarten in a hurry, and they have no time for it. Perhaps you will be able to avoid the rush on the holiday.
You can also organize a photo exhibition for this day. Ask children and parents to bring photos of them together in advance. You can call the photo exhibition “My Beloved Mother.” You can choose other topics: “How I play with my mother on the street”, “How we spend time with my mother”, “One evening in our family” and other topics, play with your imagination.
