How to make an Easter basket with your own hands: top 10 Easter basket ideas with step-by-step photos

In the West, an indispensable attribute of Easter is a basket in which the Easter bunny hides eggs. But thanks to cartoons and movies, many Western traditions have penetrated into our country, and today our children willingly make Easter baskets with their own hands in the hope that some mythical character will put a colorful egg there.

What can be used as a basis for such a product?

How to make your own Easter basket

Wicker paper Easter basket

The easiest way, of course, is to make your own Easter baskets from paper. And disposable cups or popcorn buckets will help give them the desired shape and stability.

Craft materials

So, before you make an Easter basket, you need to cut the cup at the desired height with your own hands. In fact, we are only interested in the bottom, which will be used as a basis for further work.

Cutting the cup

To get a larger basket, we fasten several cups together - three or four. We use polymer transparent glue for this purpose.

Gluing the cups

Now the most painstaking part of the work begins: you will need to cut sheets of colored paper into strips of the same width.

Strips 1 cm wide

Armed with a ruler, we draw out each sheet and cut it.

Cut the sheet into strips

Now comes the interesting part: let’s start weaving! We create a base for weaving by gluing the ends of several strips onto a piece of paper. Between them we will weave shorter pieces.

Let's start weaving

When the weaving is finished, fix the edges of each fragment with glue.

Finished weaving one strip

We should have two solid pieces of paper.

We weave two stripes

We glue them together to get a canvas of sufficient length.

Glue the strips together

This fabric needs to be wrapped around our design of disposable cups. In our case, it will take the shape of a heart, because we fastened three cups together.

Wrap the cups with stripes

Let's trace this heart on a piece of cardboard.

Circle the heart

And cut out the resulting silhouette. We will get the bottom of the basket, which will need to be glued to its rightful place.

Cut and glue as the bottom

Now let's take double-sided cardboard and cut out a fairly wide strip from it.

Strip 3 cm wide

We will use it to make a handle for the basket - we will simply attach the ends of the cardboard strip to the opposite walls of the basket. You can use a stapler or regular office glue for this purpose.

Fixing the handle of the basket

Let's decorate our craft with a bow and fill it with Easter souvenirs.

Painted eggs and eggs with surprise toys will come in handy.

Easter egg compositions

The Easter red egg is a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was with “painted eggs” that the tradition of giving gifts on Easter began, so compositions made from eggs will be considered first.

Composition from a tray

To create such a composition, you will need:

  • egg tray;
  • paints and brushes;
  • glue;
  • eggs;
  • flowers.

Such a composition can be of two types - live and artificial. For a live composition, you can use boiled eggs and fresh flowers, and for an artificial one, decorative eggs and artificial flowers.

You need to select a clean tray and cut 4-6 holes. Paint the resulting box any color. This will be the basis of the entire composition. You can paint with regular children's gouache.

While the box is drying, you need to decide on the type of composition, whether it will be alive or not, and prepare the eggs accordingly. If alive, you should boil the eggs, you can immediately use dyes, or you can use pure white ones and decorate them with gouache. You need to focus on free time to create such a composition.

If you wish, you can make decorative ones from ordinary chicken eggs. To do this you will need a gypsy needle or awl. Make two pricks at the top and bottom of the egg, blow out the egg itself (you can use it for dough), wash the shell and dry it. The eggs are ready to be colored. You can draw flowers, or write the Easter letters XB.

Important! Since the shell is very fragile, there is no need to be zealous.

If the tray is already dry, it's time to glue the flowers. Here, too, everything depends on the riot of imagination. If the composition is artificial, then with careful storage it can be used next year.

This festive Easter composition can be used as a tabletop. It looks something like this:

Tray basket

Another option for an interesting Easter composition in baskets with decorative eggs is presented below.

For the composition you will need:

  • paper tray;
  • colored paper;
  • satin ribbons;
  • paints and brushes;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

The process will not take much time:

  1. First you need to prepare the tray by first cutting it into squares 2*2 cm or 3*3 cm.
  2. The next step is to paint the box. You can paint it one color, or you can draw something original.
  3. Next you need to prepare the handle. For greater durability, you can use colored cardboard rather than paper. Fold the sheet diagonally into a strip up to 1 cm wide. Next, wrap the handle in a spiral with a thin satin ribbon.
  4. All that remains is to secure the handle with glue or a stapler, and the basket is ready.

By placing decorative eggs in it, you can decorate the basket with artificial flowers or ribbon bows, or anything that can serve as decoration.

Advice! There is no need to use heavy objects (such as sweets) since the basket is made of paper.

Composition of a vase and eggs

Another type of beautiful Easter composition made from fresh flowers is a vase. Everything here is very easy and simple. You need to take a transparent glass vase (if you don’t have one, you can use a 2-3-liter jar) and place colored boiled eggs on the bottom. Be sure to check the integrity of the eggs to ensure there are no chips or cracks. Place colored eggs on two-thirds of the vase, fill the bottle with water up to the shoulders, and insert any fresh flowers on top.

Easter wreath on the door made of eggs

Decorations such as door wreaths are becoming increasingly popular. For the Easter theme, you can also create such a composition.

For this you will need:

  • decorative eggs;
  • vacuum stickers;
  • satin ribbons, brushes, paints;
  • thick cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

Cut a round or oval rim from cardboard. It will serve as the basis for the entire composition. Now you need to decorate the headband. You can wrap it with ribbons or simply paint it in any color. Next, prepare the eggs. You can seal them with vacuum stickers, decorate them with ribbons, or paint them beautifully, depending on your free time and patience. When the base and eggs are prepared, you can begin to create the composition. This will require glue, it is better to use hot glue from a gun. In addition to eggs, you can glue artificial flowers or twigs of live willow. You can glue the entire base, or you can only glue the lower semicircle. It is also important to make a loop so that there is something to hang the wreath on.

Wicker baskets

Willow twigs (vine) are suitable for weaving baskets. Willow is easy to find along the river bank, but it should only be cut in the fall and spring when the branches are flexible. The harvested branches must be soaked in water for two weeks, changing the water daily. Then remove the bark from them and dry them.

The bottom is woven from eight rods, with holes pierced in half of them with an awl to obtain a cross. Encircle four twigs with two branches. This is how two circles are woven. Next, all 16 rods are braided separately. At the very end, another rod is added. Then the racks are bent to form a right angle and continue to weave to the full height. The last row is braided. For the handle, take a thick branch and braid it in a spiral with thin ones. The basket should dry within 2-3 days.

With such crafts, you can go to the forest to pick mushrooms, berries and herbs, and put fruits and vegetables from the garden in them.

If the basket is made oval and larger, then you can even carry a newborn baby in it.

Easter basket for the little ones (drawing and applique)

This craft and the technique of its execution will delight even our youngest creators. To draw the eggs we will use potatoes cut in half. Using a knife, we cut out patterns on its cut - lines, zigzags and circles. Then we apply paint to the potatoes and make colored prints, which will be very similar in shape to testicles.

We cut out a small circle from felt, which will be the bottom of the future basket. Next, cut out a strip approximately 7 cm wide. The length of the strip should correspond to the circumference of the bottom. Measure and cut off the excess edge.

We cut out the grass from the strip and attach it to the circle. We make another layer of grass, wrap the product, fixing the part also to the bottom. Using openwork scissors, cut out a strip that will serve as the handle of the basket. We fasten it in appropriate places.

If desired, we decorate the product with decorated flowers.

DIY Easter basket made from pasta

An unusual DIY Easter basket can be made from pasta. As its basis we take pasta in the shape of horns and bows, and a balloon. During the work we use PVA glue and acrylic paints.

Craft materials

Inflate the ball. On one side of it, approximately in the center, draw a small circle.

Inflating the balloon

We fix the “nest” on the stand. In our case, its role is played by a roll of tape. We cover the entire surface of the ball around this circle with horns.

Easter basket made of felt “Chicken”

One of the cutest baskets is the “Hen and Chicken” made from felt. For this craft, cut out the blanks based on the photo.

Blanks for crafts

Between the white parts we sew a comb, beak and beard. Sew on the eye and wing. Leave the upper part of the chicken (back) unsewn.

Sew on the details of the craft

We sew another piece of felt into the lower part, which will allow the chicken to stand.

Lower part of the chicken

To make a chicken we need two felt ovals. We sew the nose onto one of the ovals in advance. Do not sew both ovals at once, leave a small hole through which you will stuff the craft, and also do not forget to “grab” the tuft when sewing. We put the testicles into the hole on the back.

Laying the eggs

You can place a yellow felt chicken on top of the testicles.

Easter basket, expert opinion

We talked to two experts about the Easter basket. Nadezhda Belkova-Bertash, wife of a priest - Father Alexander, Archpriest of the Berlin-German Diocese: “Eggs and Easter cake are obligatory in the Easter basket. It’s beautiful if the basket is decorated with Easter cottage cheese and complemented by a red textile napkin, willow branches, flowers and a candle. I personally do not add sausage, wine and other products. I believe that this may cause temptation among other people who came to the consecration of the meal and do not have enough expensive products. The Easter basket itself on our holiday table sanctifies our meal and is a sign of participation in the Easter joy.”

Erastov Viktor Sergeevich, head of the Museum of the History of Religions and Nationalities of the Kama Region:

“Recently, the Easter basket contains not only eggs, Easter cakes and Easter cottage cheese, but also wine, cold cuts and cheese. Some advice: firstly, there is no need to bring the entire Easter festive table to the blessing; secondly, arrange the basket in such a way that half can be left in the temple without fuss or special trouble for the poor, sick, imprisoned or orphans; thirdly, do not forget about the general rules for Christians regarding abstaining from eating “strangled meat and blood” (Bible, Acts of the Apostles 15:20).”

Easter baskets - ideas from the Internet

These two wonderful Easter crafts were made in kindergarten especially for the Easter exhibition. One can only be amazed at the imagination and hard work of parents and children. The first basket is made from a box with a paper pen. It is located on a stand made of a box, which was previously covered with green paper. The eggs are wrapped in foil and decorated with a mesh of thread. The nest is made of green sisal, and the eggs and chicks were purchased from an Easter goods stall.

Many people will like this basket. It is made of felt, which was cut into teeth and pasted over a cardboard base. Plastic eggs are wrapped with ribbon and decorated with beads.

Easter egg basket made from a plastic cup and knitted yarn

Of course, when it comes to crafts, various available materials are used. And I found a wonderful master class on making our present from an ordinary plastic cup. This kind of work is easy to do and takes little time. And instead of knitted yarn, you can use regular thick threads.

We will need: a plastic cup, twine (or thick threads, yarn), Titan glue, a hot gun, a piece of plastic packaging tape used to wrap furniture, any ribbons, braid, beads and other decorations.

Work process:

1. Take the twine and glue the end to the bottom of the glass. Wrap the threads in a circle, having previously coated the bottom with glue.

2. Next, lubricate the walls of the glass with glue and, using simple winding movements, glue the twine, and beautifully round the tail and also secure it with glue.

3. Cut off unnecessary plastic.

4. Take a piece of packing tape of the required length for the handle. Decorate it with braid using a glue gun.

5. Attach the finished handle.

6. Take beads and other decorative elements and decorate the product.

This is such a miracle thing that happens!!

It would be great to do this kind of work for a competition in a kindergarten or school.

You can also take a colored plastic glass, cut the walls into strips and screw them to the base. Makes an excellent egg stand.

Or you can use a large glass, which is wrapped with adhesive colored paper, and decorated plastic spoons are glued on top, then everything is tied with a ribbon. It turns out to be a basket-vase.

This is how you can do extraordinary things simply and brightly.
