In modern cooking there is no concept of “baby salad”. Of course, many sources offer their readers sections with this name, but for the most part, the snacks presented there are simply funny designed, which, of course, attracts the attention of the younger generation, but does not make them favorite. That is why it is worth discussing, and then preparing, salads that children will like and at the same time will be beneficial for the growing body. And the most important thing is that the children eat them with pleasure, without adding gray hair to their parents by whining: “I don’t want it, it’s not tasty, I don’t like it...”. By the way, here’s an idea for you on how to feed your children healthy foods (in this canapé, before you get to the sausage, you need to eat the healthy stuff :-)
Carrot salad for children
The simplest and most delicious (according to children) salad can be prepared from ordinary carrots. You can serve it both for lunch/dinner and for breakfast. We will need:
- carrot - 1 root vegetable;
- any crushed nuts – 50 g;
- honey – 1 teaspoon.
Grate the carrots on a fine grater and mix with liquid honey. Sprinkle nuts on top. Ready.
Vegetable and cheese salad
Children do not eat vegetable snacks very readily. The exception, perhaps, is options with tomatoes. Well, to make such snacks even tastier and bring more benefits, you can add a little cheese to them. Ingredients:
- red and yellow bell peppers – 0.5 pcs.;
- fresh tomatoes – 2 pcs.;
- feta cheese or feta – 100 g;
- sour cream – 1 tablespoon;
- chopped greens – 1 teaspoon.
Cut the cheese and vegetables into small cubes, mix, add herbs, add salt to taste and season with sour cream.
You can add either feta cheese or feta cheese, depending on the child’s preferences and your own.
Briefly important tips for preparing children's salads
- The healthiest salads for children are prepared from fresh vegetables and fruits. If the gifts from gardens and vegetable gardens require heat treatment, then they should be boiled in lightly salted water and then cooled.
- Most baby recipes contain 2-3 main ingredients. A wide variety of products can be added to them: cheese, eggs, cottage cheese. But spices, with the exception of salt, should not be added to children's salads.
- Seasoning with mayonnaise is highly undesirable. It is better to use vegetable oil, sour cream or yogurt. For fruit options, you can use natural honey as a dressing.
- Children's salads should be prepared immediately before serving, a maximum of 10-15 minutes, if the dish needs to steep. There is no point in leaving “until next time.” It's better to cook fresh.
- The brighter and more interesting you decorate the dish, the more willingly the children will gobble it up. See design options.

For example, vegetable dishes will look advantageous if they are laid out in layers. The dressing can be placed nearby in a separate sauce boat or coated on top and sides of the formed dish. Use not only mayonnaise for this; sour cream and unsweetened yogurt are also great.
On top the composition can be completed with almonds, hazelnuts or pine nuts.
If nuts don’t suit your dish at all, then pomegranate seeds are an excellent substitute.
Or you can do without them by adding carved flowers from vegetables to the dish or laying out an edible design. Using parsley sprigs, radishes and chopped olives, you can create a fish and penguin, as in the following photo.
You can also experiment with volumetric molding. For example, winter dishes can be served in the form of forest cones, and seafood in the form of fish.
