Party in Indian style: exotic Bharat at your home

Anniversary script in Indian style

India contains many mysteries and secrets; the Eastern worldview is permeated with hidden meaning and symbolism.
In addition, Hindus are famous for the art of developing the body, spirit and mind - yoga. Masters can take unimaginable poses and not feel pain when walking on nails or broken glass. Of course, you shouldn’t force the guests of your anniversary celebration to do the same, but it is quite possible to plunge headlong into the world of an oriental fairy tale. Give invitations to your guests in advance and discuss the theme of the anniversary so that each invitee has enough time to prepare. Of course, some will prefer a familiar suit, so make sure in advance that you have spare saris for girls and traditional high-collar suits for men. A photo shoot in Indian costumes will allow you to enjoy the memories long after the holiday.

Of course, preparing for such a large-scale event will take a lot of time and effort, but you shouldn’t sacrifice healthy sleep. Sleep for at least 8 hours on a firm, elastic mattress, and if you can buy bamboo bed linen, then a surge of energy in the morning will allow you to realize all your Indian anniversary ideas. The bamboo fibers from which bed linen is made are distinguished by their ability to perfectly absorb moisture and maintain warmth, so it is ideal for people of all ages and children.

So, the guests are gathered, the host invites everyone to the table and talks about the legends of India, anniversary traditions and offers to try Indian sweets.

In addition, you can place tables in the hall, at which experts will introduce everyone to Indian spices and the intricacies of their use, and everyone will be able to choose spices for themselves, as a souvenir from the hero of the day. In addition, you can invite an Indian carpet maker and introduce those present to this art. Indian body painting is an indispensable entertainment at such a celebration; let each of the guests preserve the memory of your anniversary, at least until the henna is washed off.

As prizes in competitions, you can present CDs with a yoga course, a set of oriental sweets, a bag of spices, or elephant figurines.

The most popular competition will be the dance competition, because Indian dances are refined and refined, and with the help of her fingers a girl can tell a whole story. The hero of the day can also participate in the competition or present a separate pre-prepared act.

Invite the girls to decorate the body of their chosen ones with temporary henna tattoos. The couple that can do it the fastest and create the most beautiful pattern on the skin becomes the winner.

Take a quiz on your knowledge of Indian films. Questions can be very diverse from the names of the main characters to their remarks.

For the hero of the day, men must weave a wreath; for this, prepare the required number of fresh or artificial flowers. The hero of the occasion will choose the winner herself, in whose wreath she will spend the rest of the evening.

At the end of the holiday, the hero of the day thanks the guests and invites them to the final Indian dance.

Decor

Start by determining your color scheme. The red spectrum is ideal for the background. But not flashy colors, but halftones - deep, warm and calming (brick, salmon, cherry). If the background is bright red, the design should contain a lot of wood and clay, brown decorations - they will smooth out the explosive effect of the scarlet color.

Relaxing beige, blue, green foliage colors, and purple shades are suitable as the main ones. highly desirable to have a golden color in compositions and any decorations.

The second step is choosing fabric, which should be a lot at an Indian themed party. Panels on the walls, curtains, canopies, drapery of furniture and ceiling - imitation of a tent. Or the tent itself, if the party is held outdoors. More often they use plain textiles of several overlapping shades, less often - two or three contrasting ones.

In some areas, gather the drapery with braided cords and elegant tassels. Textile tassels with beads and polysyllabic tops are found in almost every Indian's home.

Only now can you start decorating a house or cafe hall in the Indian style, “drawing” a recognizable colorful interior on the prepared background. We offer party ideas that are simple and not too expensive:

  • Indian wool carpets will add coziness to the atmosphere. Hang it on the wall, throw a few rugs on the floor. Persian ones are quite suitable - at first glance you can’t tell the difference. In nature, carpets are also needed - in the recreation area, the path in front of the tent and a large one inside. Striped woven/woven rugs will fit;

  • scatter bright pillows of different sizes and shapes , with ethnic patterns, across the floor/furniture. Suitable patchwork, Indian cucumbers. Some pillows can be decorated with beads, tassels, fringe, patchwork appliqués;
  • decorate the space with flower garlands (peonies, chrysanthemums, and other “fluffies”). Instead of fresh flowers, you can make paper pompoms and buds - bright, airy. Use the petals in compositions - put them in water with candles, sprinkle them on the edges of dishes, scatter them on the floor. Draw or print an image of a red lotus - the symbol of India;

  • at an Indian-style party there should be quite a lot of candles - everywhere, in groups of 3-5 pieces. Decorate jars, bottles and other containers for them with stained glass paints/outlines. It is very easy! Repeat an ethnic pattern found on the Internet. Or outline it by placing a piece of paper with a printout inside the jar (then the jar is painted from the inside after creating the pattern);

Scented candles, lamps and sticks will be needed to create an ambiance. But use them without going overboard - not all party guests will be happy with a thick, rich smell, even a pleasant one.

  • transform chandeliers and other lamps by replacing ordinary lampshades with beaded lampshades. This is also easy and does not require special skills. You can simply gather the beads into long threads and hang them vertically on a wire frame (kind of like a curtain). Look for ideas for color combinations on the Internet - the effect produced by the “Indian style” depends more on the correct selection of shades than on the complexity of the weave/pattern;

  • use figurines, images, prints of Buddha and Hindu deities. Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, etc. – bright, fantastic, very colorful. Hang paintings, antique drawings, photos of attractions, temples on the walls. If you are having an Indian movie themed party, print out photos of actors and stills from popular films;
  • borrow Indian style brass/copper utensils from friends. Similar souvenirs are brought from Turkey and other eastern countries - without special knowledge it is impossible to distinguish. “Gilded” or “silver” trays, Turks and teapots, glasses and mugs, elongated jugs. Indian ceramics are very beautiful, especially painted dishes. Use what is simpler for presentation, place the most luxurious items in a visible place (a sign of wealth);

  • “invite” Indian animals and birds to the party . Elephants, cows, tigers, cobras, peacocks and herons, rhesus macaques. All of them are revered in India, are recognizable symbols of the country - they will add ambience to the design. Drawings, photos, images on scenery, figurines – whatever. For example, many friends probably have figurines of elephants with their trunks raised for good luck.

If you don’t find anything suitable, print out backgrounds for FS in Indian style (textures) and animal silhouettes. Attach the silhouette, cut it out - you will get colorful figures for decorating dishes, textiles, garlands, compositions.

You can create a jungle in nature. Place cardboard peacocks, tigers and elephants here and there, put monkeys in the trees, hide snakes in the bushes. Hang paper vines, place artificial palm trees and huge palm leaves.

Of course, it is not necessary to implement all of the listed ideas, especially if the party is for children. But for the Indian style to be clearly visible in the design, the decor should be colorful, rich and even a little excessive.

Comic dramatization “Eternal Love”

(the texts of the roles, printed in LARGE FONT, are distributed to the “actors”, and everything else is the presenter and voice-over text; five minutes of preparation of the “actors behind the scenes” is required)

Leading. “Kapoor Entertainment” in collaboration with Raj-Indiana-Puns presents a two-part feature film “Eternal Love”. Characters and performers:

- Rich and famous, but very evil Indian Raja - ___________________ (artist name) Kapoor;

- young, gentle, dreamy and delightful beauty - daughter of the Indian Raja - _________________ Kapoor;

— Poor and very kind Indian Mother — _______________ Kapoor;

- Poor and ragged, but very beautiful Son of a Poor Indian Mother - __________________ Kapoor.

First episode. Early Bombay morning. On the porch of her poor Indian ramshackle hut, the Poor Indian Mother and her handsome, ragamuffin son meet.

Mother. Good morning, son! Eat, you haven't eaten all night!

Son. Good morning, Mom! Who's my dad?

Mother. Oh, he was very rich and helped the poor!

Son. Oh mom, were we rich?

Mother. Yes, son. But one day there was a strong fire in which everything died, and only you and I remained alive.

Son. I swear, MOM, we will be rich!

Leading. End of the first episode. The audience is crying!

“Kapoor Entertainment” in collaboration with Raj-Indiana-Puns presents a two-part feature film “Eternal Love”. Second series. Early beautiful Bombay morning. Along a beautiful Bombay street, along and across which beautiful and well-fed sacred cows are lying here and there (men voice), and from the beautiful bamboo windows of beautiful bamboo dwellings beautiful Indian talking parrots peep out here and there, slowly walking, dancing and chanting, a beautiful Indian girl smiles affectionately at every cow she meets, every elephant and parrot. An equally handsome, but very ragged young man walks towards a beautiful girl, just as slowly, chanting and dancing and smiling for no reason at everything that surrounds him. They see each other and immediately fall in love, very beautifully, in an Indian way. And then the young man, unable to contain his beautiful Indian feelings, begins to dance and sing very beautifully in Indian style (in the dubbing, a song from an Indian film).

“Love me as I love you, with your blue eyes!

Love me as I love you, but don’t go out with others!” - the young man sings and dances. Five years have passed. The girl in love also cannot contain her feelings and also sings and dances:

“You are like the sun to me!

You are like the wind to me!

You are for me, my love,

There’s only one like this in the world!”

Another ten years have passed. Finally, they understand that singing and dancing for fifteen years in a row, even for an Indian and a Hindu, is bad manners (clinic!) and then HE addresses HER in his beautiful Indian voice:

Son. I've been looking for you for so long!

Daughter. Yes, but father will not allow us to be together, because you are very poor...

Leading. At this time, the Evil Indian Raja suddenly appears from the beautiful Indian bushes.

Rajah. Oh, criminal daughter! What is this ragamuffin doing next to you?

Menu, serving

Decide which format is closer to you. Ideally, this is a meal on the floor - a large blanket, bright pillows. You can place a low table on the blanket. If you want to sit at a familiar table, move the sofa next to it and arrange the chairs. Be sure to drape the furniture if it does not fit into the style. Make covers for the backs of chairs or decorate them with flower ribbons.

In India, carved furniture, with ornaments and designs, decorated with stones and mosaics, is highly valued. If the tablecloth is long, with beautiful folds, ethnic.

We have already mentioned brass and earthenware. If this is not enough, buy the cheapest clear bowls, dishes, mugs, etc. Print out patterns in Indian style, apply to glass and paint with stained glass paints/acrylics. Like the cans mentioned above, but only on the outside so that the paint does not come into contact with the food.

Traditional Indian cuisine is rich in vegetable dishes (stews, salads), rice, wheat, and beans. Any meat except beef. Spices are best spicy and fragrant (not too hot). Any fish and seafood. Instead of bread, it is better to bake flatbreads.

For dessert - exotic fruits. Those with a sweet tooth will surely appreciate jalebi, burfi, malpuri, rassagolu - they are literally finger-licking good! The recipes are elementary. Thematic drinks include Indian tea prepared according to a traditional recipe. Or lassi - a fluffy yoghurt drink with fruit. Strong alcohol (gin, rum), beer, wine is appropriate.

How to entertain guests?

When everything is prepared for the holiday, all that remains is to relax and celebrate. Entertainment must be accompanied by Indian themed music. She herself is very energetic and cheerful, so she won’t get bored at the party. Themed dances can also decorate the holiday. You can, for example, organize a competition to teach belly dancing or group dance. For women, painting with henna on the body will be a very exciting activity. This is a long-standing Indian tradition, which is now borrowed by many women of other nationalities to create their external image.

You can perfectly add your own competitions to the stylistic Indian holiday that will amuse the people. You can remember some historical events in India and reproduce them in a skit. Or, for example, try to create a movie plot. This can not only strengthen your general knowledge of Indian culture but also help you have a good time. You can arrange a meditation and bring the Indian style closer to Buddhism. In this case, you can get closer to the guests and create a warm atmosphere.

Cloth

Of course, the most beautiful girls at an Indian party will be, because the traditional clothing of this country - choli - is the height of elegance, beauty and femininity. First, you need to put on a short top and a long skirt, and throw a fabric on top, which will serve as the rest of the costume. While the skirt and top can be plain and simple, the top fabric should be bright, embellished with embroidery and sequins!

There is also clothing that is more traditional for us - a sari (fabric, 4 to 9 meters long), which we wrap around the waist, draping it beautifully, and then throw it over the shoulder, securing it with a beautiful brooch, hairpin or pins.

A beautiful multi-layered skirt will be an excellent solution for girls.

If you are indifferent to a sari and want to wear trousers, then we advise you to opt for harem pants or leggings, which will create a beautiful ensemble with the salwar kameez - a traditional Indian dress worn by both men and women! An important feminine attribute in this ensemble is a long silk scarf – dupatta.

For men, there is a very beautiful clothing - a sherwani, which is like a long jacket that reaches the knee or mid-calf. Sherwanis are worn with churidars - loose at the hips and tapering trousers at the bottom.

An excellent solution would be the salwar kameez, a dress worn with trousers that Indian women and men wear.

The most striking element of a man’s costume can be the dastar or as it is called pheta - a turban worn by certain religious communities in India.

Registration and preparation

The best option for an Indian wedding is a tent, inside which guests will sit on colorful pillows, smoking a hookah. The atmosphere of relaxation will become especially important after a busy first wedding day. A prerequisite is a large amount of fresh fruit placed in vases and baskets around the perimeter, and flower garlands decorating the tent or gazebo.

The dress code for guests is saris for women and turbans for men. To recreate the Indian atmosphere as fully as possible, invite a mehendi artist who will decorate everyone with symbolic patterns using henna. It is advisable to stock up on tracks of incendiary Indian disco, the tunes of which not a single person can sit through.

Stages of the holiday

The second day of the wedding is marked by a meeting of guests, the scenario of which is a mix of Indian motifs and Russian traditions. At the entrance to the tent, everyone is greeted by Fakir with a rubber snake and Zita and Gita, dressed in national costumes.

For a small amount of rupees, Fakir treats guests to a strong banana liqueur, and gives those who do not want to pay a pipe and makes them play for his cobra. For those who pass the test, Zita and Gita draw a symbolic dot on the forehead and decorate it with a flower garland.

After the guests meet, the bride and groom appear in disguise. Their parents meet them and, according to the “Indian” custom, draw hearts pierced by arrows on the foreheads of the “newlyweds”. After this, their hands are washed with strong drink so that the family is stronger. Next, according to “tradition,” the “bride” must take off her shoes, step into the brown paint and walk along the canvas to her place, so that money will flow in the family. Beforehand, the host briefly introduces guests to the rituals of Indian weddings.

At the end of the event - after fun competitions, performances from Yogi and fiery dances, you can organize a festival of colors. For a colorful riot, be sure to buy natural herbal powder paints. They wash well, are safe if they come into contact with the eyes, and can improve your health.

Indian competition program

A cool scenario for the second day of a wedding in nature requires fun challenges for the guests and characters of the holiday. For example, newlyweds in disguise can be checked for “professional suitability” and compliance with the statuses of husband and wife:

  1. Kama Sutra exam. To the accompaniment of a languid Indian melody, the costumed bride and groom must jokingly recreate the poses whose names they pull out of a hat. These could be positions such as “Monkey Attack”, “Royal Throne”, “Sea Knot”, “Tiger Capture” or the modern version - “Electric Train”.
  2. Big Indian family. The presenter announces that every decent family is obliged to have at least 10 children, and it’s time to think about their names right now. The “newlyweds” are asked to take turns saying traditional Indian names, and the rest of the guests can offer suggestions.

Test-competitions on the second day of the wedding according to the script await the newly-made mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law:

  1. Prompters. The parents of the bride and groom exchange partners and compete in dubbing the most illogical fragments from Bollywood films. In this way, they prepare to resolve inevitable conflicts between their children.
  2. Yoga wisdom. Each parent randomly draws a photo from a hat depicting one of the simple yoga poses. The winner is the one who reproduces the pose as correctly or creatively as possible. This is how parents learn to channel their emotions in the right direction without splashing them out on their children.

The following competitions can be prepared for guests:

  1. Movie stars. 4-5 pairs compete by acting out famous scenes from Indian films. These could be action films, scenes of declaration of love or dances. The winners are determined by the loudness of the audience's applause.
  2. Dress the bride. Participants are divided into pairs: one plays the role of a mannequin, and the second wraps it in a sari, puts on other elements of the bride’s outfit and draws patterns on the arms and legs. The winner is the one who completes the preparation of the “bride” faster or creates the most interesting wedding image.

Makeup

Makeup is very important when it comes to looking like an Indian woman. It is unique and not characteristic of any other country; therefore, the poet needs to become familiar with the peculiarities of Indian aesthetics in order to maintain style in everything.

Surely everyone knows that Indian women almost always have a red dot on their forehead. It can be pasted or drawn, if desired. But just a dot will look very simplistic; to add richness to the look, use jewelry that is attached to the hair and decorates the forehead. Hair should be neatly collected or beautifully styled. Eye makeup is bright and rich. It is recommended to use pink, brown shadows and black eyeliner. Lipstick should not be provocative, but juicy.

You can organize a Mexican-style party.

Scenery

Jewelry plays a very important role in Indian culture. They not only satisfy people's aesthetic needs, but also symbolize a state of mind. In India, it is customary to decorate the walls of rooms with garlands of flowers. They create incredible comfort in the home, as well as a feeling of a joyful event, a holiday. Flowers, however, should be chosen bright: pink, red and yellow. These color combinations will help you create oriental comfort in your home.

And so that the Indian spirit really penetrates the room, you can buy incense sticks with scents of your own taste and place them throughout the room.

Candles are a very important element of the interior when it comes to Indian style. In addition to incense sticks, you can decorate themed vases. To do this you will need glass bowls, flower petals, and candles, preferably of different colors. Pour water into a bowl, decorate it with petals and place candles. The energy of water will combine with the light of fire and give life to the room.

Energy characteristics are also a very important part in Indian culture. Therefore, if you want to reproduce the Indian style at your holiday, then you need to place figurines of Indian deities in the room. Only then, in the house or other place where the holiday is to be held, will the spirit and traditions of the Indian people be felt. As for lighting, it should not be too bright. Candles will add their own light and you can add the light glow of lamps to it.

In general, especially for the New Year, you can use multi-colored light bulbs, which can become both a subject of lighting and at the same time a decoration for the room. And now the most important thing in the room is the festive table. For those familiar with Indian culture, it is no secret that people in this country sit on the floor to eat. Thus, you need to set a very low table, preferably a long one, but if there are few guests, then a square one can be used. Use pillows instead of chairs. The colors and small details of the decorations are determined by taste, but do not forget about warm oriental tones.
