To give it volume, we draw vertical strokes - edges and a circle at the end of the tail, showing its thickness.After this, we add another oval from each side, also “hiding” them by one third behind the neighboring ones. How to add thickness to "slots"
Since pumpkins have thick walls that are visible through the slot, we need to depict this. We remember how we drew a parallelepiped at school - the side part was drawn only on one side. We do the same with the eyes, duplicating the lower corner of the triangle on one side.
You can draw a cut on the left side of each eye, or on opposite sides. For the sections of the nose, we duplicate the triangle inside it, but make the lower indent wider than the side ones. The mouth also needs volume, but it is visible only on the lower part of the smile, which we duplicate by retreating inward and emphasizing the edges of the only tooth.
When we are done with “carving” the pumpkin, we can add relief to it by drawing oval segments on it. Using hatching we work out the boundaries of the segments, the tail and internal sections.
If we draw with colored pencils, then we can color the slits in yellow, as if light is coming from the pumpkin, because a candle is burning in it, or we can draw a candle flame in the slits of the eyes.
If you want to give the pumpkin a more sinister look, draw a different eye shape - teardrop-shaped, tapering towards the bridge of the nose, tiny nostrils and a thin mouth slit with lots of teeth.
