And of course, both holidays cannot be done without balloons. But it’s commonplace that hanging them around the room is not always the right decision. But creating compositional figures or images from balloons is both beautiful and interesting. Moreover, such compositions will always attract the attention of guests and leave a pleasant mark on the memory of the holiday.
But ordering such beautiful decorations is not always affordable or not possible due to the territorial location of the venue. In this case, you should not push ideas with a similar design to the far corner. Since it will not be difficult to assemble decorations of any size and complexity yourself.
There are many options for assembling balloon shapes. Some of them are relatively not simple, but there are also those that a child can do. As a rule, to make any figure, a frame is required, which, in turn, can be made from a variety of materials.
Assembling, for example, a heart from balloons for a wedding or anniversary will take no more than two hours. And in the case of choosing a frameless connection, even less.
Heart made of balls with a wire frame
Assembling such a composition yourself will not be difficult. And this thing can be used in completely different ways. For a wedding or an anniversary, for a declaration of love or as a gift - this beautiful design will fit anywhere. Moreover, since the base will consist of wire, the shapes of this decoration are not limited in any way. The result of such work will be a durable figure, which will be designed to be installed on the floor and, if necessary, can be moved to any place.
A heart made of balloons, assembled in this way, is usually used to decorate festive halls. For example, if a wedding celebration is being decorated, then this form can be placed at the head of the table for the newlyweds or at the table with gifts.
The versatility of this type of decoration is unambiguous. Since the item will ultimately have a certain weight, it can even be installed outdoors. Without fear that the composition will be blown away by the wind.

To assemble such a structure, you will not need many materials and tools:
- Medium hard wire
- Balloons (five inches)
- Scotch
- Scissors
- Rope
The wire should be of a type that would hold its shape well, but at the same time not be difficult to bend to give it. You can find such material in high-voltage cables. As a rule, one cable core, approximately three to three and a half meters long, is enough. However, it can be any material that can be bent and does not lose its shape.
You will need a lot of balloons. Five-inch ones are most often ideal for this type of assembly. On average, for three meters of wire, you need about two hundred balls. The quantity, of course, will depend on the degree of their inflation, but as practice shows, more than 250 (including damage) is enough.
You will need wide tape. Color and transparency do not matter, since it will not be visible when assembling the composition. Any scissors will also be required. Paper ones will also work. They will be needed for cutting tape and rope.
A rope will be needed if the structure needs to be secured. For example, outdoors or above the floor surface. The length and type of rope should be selected depending on the needs for its use.
It is best to choose a type of wire so that it cannot bend, for example, if accidentally touched or caused by a gust of wind. And also, it is worth paying attention to its oxidation. It will not be pleasant if, when transferring the composition, your hands get dirty, not to mention your festive clothes.
Assembling this figure is very simple. First, you need to give the wire a heart shape. But this should be done in a certain way. By connecting the ends of the future frame to each other, it is necessary to give the workpiece the shape of a circle. The ends of the wire should be fastened with an overlap and using tape. It is better not to waste scotch tape, since the future shape will depend on the strength of the connection.
Having stepped back a few centimeters from the gluing site, you need to bend the wire at an angle. This will be the base of the heart. When bending the upper part, you must remember that there should not be an acute angle between the halves of the heart, but an even gap of approximately ten fifteen centimeters. This is necessary for even attachment of the balls.
The balls themselves need to be connected in four pieces. The most convenient way to do this is to inflate them. The balls are tied not with thread, but with each other. First there are two balls, and later two more are attached to them. The balloons should be inflated in such a way that in a bunch of four pieces, they do not push each other out, but also tightly touch the edges.
On average, about forty such parts are needed. Sometimes more. After they are all ready, you should start putting them on the already finished wire. Dress it so that the frame wire passes through the center of the ball joint.
Once all the parts are put on the frame, the balls should be aligned so that the shape looks symmetrical, and if there is a pattern, it does not fall out of the overall picture.
Heart made of balloons with a ring in the center
This method is a little more complicated than the previous one. And it is designed more for balloons filled with some kind of gas. Since the figure itself turns out to be quite voluminous and not suitable for mounting on a wall or somewhere else.
In order to make such a heart, you will also need five-inch balls, a plastic ring and threads. You may also need cardboard paper to make the core.
This design can be used at street celebrations or to release your heart into the air at the end of the evening. Also, if the size is not very large, the composition (or several pieces) can be fixed as a decoration for paths or improvised arches.
But this is about decoration. And in terms of a gift, such a heart is suitable for any celebration. And for the celebration of birth, and for the date of all lovers, and for a declaration of love. Even on a first date, such a beautifully decorated bouquet of balloons would be appropriate to surprise.
Decoration of cards can also be installed with such compositions. Not to mention decorating a carriage or other original vehicle.
To make such a heart from balls, you will need the following materials:
- Inflatable five-inch balloons
- Plastic ring
- Thin tape
- Scissors
- Threads
- Rope
- Gas
You will need balls similar to the first option. Same size and density. Only they need to be inflated with some kind of volatile gas (for example, helium), so that the entire composition stays in the air.
It is better to find a plastic ring, which will be the center of the entire structure, made of lightweight material. For example, one that holds curtains or from a children's toy. About five centimeters in diameter. It is possible to use the rim of a plastic bottle after cutting off the sharp fasteners. But only if the heart size is not expected to be large. Regular office tape will do. To complete the creation of the heart shape, they will attach the threads to the ring and, if necessary, fasten some balls together.
You will need threads that are dense and not torn. It is best to choose a color that matches the color of the balls and rings. So that there are no sharp contrasts. The rope is needed only to make a cord out of it for fastening or to hold the heart in your hands. A gas cylinder should be purchased specially for creating aero compositions. And calculate its volume by the number of balls in the mold.
Creating the composition itself should begin by inflating the balloons and tying a thread to them, long enough to secure the ball at a distance from the ring throughout the entire shape. The first balls, which will represent the base, should be attached as close to the ring as possible. It is better to keep the distance between the balls to a minimum, but at the same time it should be possible to tie the following rows to the ring. Thus, row by row, the balls should be secured to the ring, tying them with thread. To create the shape, you can use tape to hold the heats together. And also by adjusting the frequency of tying on one side or another.
Upon completion of formation, the ring should be tightly wrapped with tape to avoid untying the knots. And also attach a rope to it. If necessary, you can thread cardboard paper into the ring, to which, in turn, you can attach a postcard or any other core.
When forming a heart, calculate in advance the number of balls in all parts of the figure. In order to avoid uneven corners or irregular shapes.
Useful tips
- In the process of creating figures, it is important to control the size of the balloons - it must be the same, otherwise the symmetry will be broken. A calibrator is required for control. You can make it yourself by cutting a round hole of the required diameter in a cardboard box. When inflating, place the balloon in the hole: this way you won’t be able to overfill the product with air or make it too small.
- A hand pump is a useful thing, but only if we are not talking about inflating 250 products at a time. It will be difficult even if you don't work alone. It is better to purchase a special electric pump, especially if you plan to continue to get involved in balloon decorations.
- It is better to start with the simplest, monochromatic compositions. Especially if time to prepare for the celebration is limited. You may not come up with a complex figure the first or even the second time, this is normal. If you want to decorate an event with complex and original designs, it is better to turn to professional aero designers.
Heart shaped balls on a grid
This decoration is easier to make than previous options. But it is limited in the ways it can be used and applied. The shape formed in this way is most often used to decorate walls or curtains. Or any other flat surface. It doesn’t take much time to make such a decorative element. And there are not as many used parts in it as in other examples.
The finished composition is easy to use at any celebration. This decoration is attached to a wall or curtain using hooks or pins. And since the size of the heart is limited only by the number of balls, in addition to the heart itself, a drawing or pattern can be drawn on it. For example, numbers or the first letters of names. And from several such hearts you can easily make a word or a date.
The convenience of this design is that it is not picky about the bends and angles of the surface. And completely calmly, it can be installed both on the corner of the room and on the round surface of the column. When attached to a curtain, it will also take the shape of the curtain itself.
To make such a heart you will need:
- Standard five inch balls
- Mesh or its equivalent
- Threads
- Fastenings (hooks or pins)
- Scissors
When creating such a heart, it is best to inflate the balls more tightly for better volume. Since they will be mounted on the same plane, it is better to place them very close.
You should choose a dense mesh for attaching the balls. A large fisherman would be best. But such a network is not cheap and therefore there may be its analogues. The sizes depend on the desired size of the future heart. It is best to choose nylon and thick threads. This way it will be as convenient as possible to attach the balls to the canvas. Moreover, such a thread better retains air inside the ball.
Depending on the future location of the figure, fasteners should be chosen from wall hooks or regular pins. In the case of placing the heart on the wall, hooks are best suited. And on the curtain, it is certainly more convenient to attach with pins.
Absolutely any scissors will do, the main thing is that they can be used to cut the thread and, if necessary, trim the mesh.
Avoid using plastic mesh as they tend to curl up and sometimes have sharp edges. Which can cut the thread or pierce the ball itself. And also, such a mesh is much more difficult to secure.
The production of such a composition should begin by cutting out a shape from the mesh. This way it will be easier to determine the number of balls and check the attachment location in advance. After the mesh is ready, you should inflate several balls and, approximately, set the required number. Then start attaching it to the mesh itself.
You should start fastening from the edges, using a thread, directing lines to the base of the form. The balls should be very close, but at such a distance that they are vertical from the surface of the net. In the case of drawing a pattern, you should calculate the pattern of the pattern in advance and attach the balls according to it.
The outer balls, so that they do not fall apart, can be secured with double-sided tape to the rest, or you can attach an additional row around the circumference.
We inflate the lincoloon balloons and tie each one.
Linkoloons are ordinary round balls, only they have a tail (a neck through which the ball is inflated and on the opposite side there is a tail, thanks to this, complex figures can be modeled from them). So that the balls last longer and do not burst while we are spinning them, it is advisable inflate them 2 times. The first time we inflate and immediately deflate the balloon. We inflate and tie it a second time. We definitely use a calibrator. This is necessary so that the balls are inflated equally, then the figure made from such balls looks beautiful. You can choose the color of the balls according to your taste.
Heart shaped balloons using double sided tape
This method is so simple to use that it will take a minimum of time. But this design is not suitable everywhere and, most often, is used as part of a stationary composition. Moreover, such a composition should be located exclusively indoors, not exposed to the sun and not heated. This is due to the properties of the fastening material, namely double-sided tape. Which tends to come apart when the temperature rises.
A similar design, not only from the heart, can be used when decorating halls for celebrations, cafes or restaurants. And also, quite often, store departments are decorated in this way at the time of any promotions or holidays. This type of decoration is often used at home. Since, if necessary, the figure can actually be disassembled.
Also, the use of this type of assembly can be useful when preparing various kinds of competitions or quizzes, where it is necessary to separate parts of the figure one by one.
To prepare such an installation, you must:
- Regular size balls
- Double sided tape
- Scissors
It is worth buying medium-sized balloons for a faster and stronger construction. It is also worth paying attention to the density of the rubber in the products to be sure that there is no damage during fastening. The tape should be thin and colorless, but double-sided. You should not buy cheap products, as most likely they will not bring the desired result. Any scissors will do. Their task will be to cut the tape into equal parts.
Choose tape by brand. The more famous the manufacturer, the better the product. In our case, the entire durability of the structure depends on it and it will play a fundamental role in manufacturing.
First of all, you should inflate a sufficient number of balloons. To calculate the required number, we can draw a diagram of the future heart on paper. Moreover, in this way it will be clearer and easier to assemble the figure.
Collecting the heart should start from the middle, on a horizontal surface. Balls must be placed with nipples inside the figure. If two layers are planned, for example, a front and a back wall, then the nipple must be directed exactly to the middle of the structure being constructed. We tightly glue a small piece of tape to the ball, with the second surface not peeled off. This is necessary in order to better press the tape. Next, remove the film and attach the second ball to it.
Thus, from the middle we move in a circle, attaching the balls in all directions to each other. If a second wall of the figure is planned, then the nipple can be tied with thread for a stronger grip. The second wall can be assembled separately in the same way and attached to the first in the same way, but using larger pieces of tape.
Burning Heart
According to tradition, a wedding event often ends with some beautiful spectacle. For example, I release Chinese lanterns into the sky, or set off fireworks. The most original couples choose a fiery heart to conclude the holiday.
Burning hearts accompanied by romantic music will impress any guests and will definitely be remembered for a long time. And a photographer can capture a young couple in a fiery frame.
Such entertainment does not cost exorbitant amounts of money; the price starts from about one and a half thousand rubles. It all depends on what size the figure will be and how long it will burn. Heart made of balloons on a paper basis
This method of collecting heart shapes from balloons is somewhat reminiscent of attaching balloons to a net. But this option has its advantages. Since, on paper, you can give a fixed shape, and it is much more stable than a grid.
As for the complexity of the assembly, there are no particular difficulties in it. Except, probably, finding the right paper size. But for this option, a regular thick Whatman paper will do very well.
This figure can be used for any celebration and anywhere. The main and only limitation is the lack of moisture. That is, it is better not to endure such a heart outside in rainy weather.
But for decorating halls and cafes, it is much better suited. Moreover, due to the ease of assembly, this option is good to use at home, when, as always, there is not enough time for decorations.
To make such a heart, you will need:
- Medium size balls
- Thick Whatman paper (or several)
- Threads
- Scotch
- Scissors
Balls for such a structure are best purchased of medium size and medium density. Such balls are not very heavy and will not tear the paper if it is not too thick. The balloons should be inflated volumetrically for better contact with each other. Whatman paper, which will serve as the basis for the heart, is worth buying the densest one. Depending on the size of the heart, you may need several pieces. But you shouldn’t overdo it, since whatman paper tends to curl up. Also, before forming a figure out of it, you should let it rest for some time under a load to obtain a flat surface.
Threads should be used as thick as possible so that they do not cut the paper. But at the same time, make sure that they fix the air well in the ball itself. Scotch tape can be useful in this case if whatman paper needs to be given some form other than flat. Or for fixing balls, on the other hand. Scissors need to be sharp. In this version of the heart assembly they will play a big role. From making paper figures to cutting thread and tape.
If whatman paper is folded, but there is no time to straighten it, you can use a second one of the same kind and stick its back side to the back side of the first. In this way they compensate for each other's folding. Pay attention to the structure of the glue when gluing. The thicker it is, the more firmly the sheet will hold on.
To make such a heart, you should start by preparing a figure from whatman paper or other thick paper. Before preparing, let the paper rest for a while to take a flat shape. The base of the heart blank should not be made very pointed, so that this part does not stand out against the background of the balloons.
The next step is to prepare the balls. It is worth inflating them to the end and fixing the valve, both with the balls themselves and with a thread. Leaving at the same time most of it for fastening with other balls. You should start attaching the balls on one side, having calculated their approximate number. This is necessary so that there is not enough space on the prepared figure.
Make a small hole in the paper and pass a thread through it. And use it to pull out the valve of the ball with the knot from the back of the Whatman paper. After securing the second ball in this way, tie the first thread to the valve of the second. Do this with everyone.
When securing the balls, make sure that they do not bend from tension and are vertical from the Whatman paper. For a more stable shape, the first two rows along the perimeter should be secured more closely. Since the first balls, as a rule, open up like petals. The finished heart can be mounted on a wall or curtain, as well as on any flat surface.
Inflate three-inch round latex balloons.
First, inflate 3-inch balloons. This is important because it is more convenient to attach them first to the frame of the heart shape. We attach them to the joints on a chain (in the diagram there is a chain of red balls, photo 2). We connect the balls in pairs, resulting in clusters of twos. We pull the first ball of the cluster under the joint on the chain and bring it to the inside, correct and twist the two balls of this cluster half a turn to fix it. Combined method
The combined method of creating a heart from balloons is needed more for a decorative installation and creating not only the heart itself, but also an entire composition next to it.
For example, having chosen the option of fastening with wire and making the heart itself from black and white balls, next to it you can use the option with whatman paper to make some kind of swan bodies. So that in the compartment they would look like two swans looking at each other.
Or, choosing the same method with wire, the center of the heart can be filled by attaching a mesh with balls to it. There are no restrictions in the choice of combinations and only the imagination of the installation author can serve as a framework.
